    From jeanne Selig in Nov 2007 John & Nellie Willems farm was down the road from our house. When the twins Hilaria and Melania Williems were born in Dec. 31, 1911... one of them was acturally born on New Years Day..according to my mother. I think it was Henry Willems (a brother to the twins) that was blind and my dad said he could pick out a calf to buy better than my dad could with two good eyes. The Willems had a lot of blindness and cataracts in their families.

    Mrs. Rosella M. Gre en, age 85, died Tuesday February 18th, 1992 at Appleton Medical Cente r. She was born March 3rd, 1906 in Hollandtown, daughter of the late Jo hn and Nelli (VanLanen) Willems. She had it lived in Freedom all of her m arried life and was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Christi an Mother's, the Clippers, and a 50 years member of the Catholic Knight s. She is survived by three sons: Leonard B. (Elaine) Green, DePere; Ly le (Kathy) Green, Wrightstown; Vernon and friend, Patti Reitz, of Freedo m; a daughter and son-in-law: Geraldine (James) Pomeroy, of Kaukauna; 15 g randchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Melania (Dan) Baumgar t, Depere; Hilaria (Silverius) Schaefer, Hollandtown; three sisters in la w: Marcella (Erv)Tennessen, of Hollandtown, Nell Appleman, DePere; Margar et Willems, of Madison; her husband's sister, Martha Weyenberg, Appleto n. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W.; two sons: Dona ld and Harland, seven brothers: Aloysius, Henry, Leonard, John, Martin, Be rnard, and William. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Thursday at St. N icholas Catholic Church, Freedom with the Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. I nternment in the parish cemetery.

    Malenia Baumgart, 92, De Pere, passed away Monday, July 19, 2004, at a loc al nursing home. She was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Hollandtown, to the late J ohn and Petronella (Van Lanen) Willems. On Nov. 22, 1954, she was unit ed in marriage to Daniel Baumgart. Dan preceded her in death on June 3, 19 97. Malenia enjoyed spending time in her kitchen, whether it be cooking, b aking or canning. She also liked to play cards with her family and friend s. In their younger years Malenia and Dan liked to Square Dance. Malenia a nd Dan raised lambs at their home, “Little Bethlehem.” They especially enj oyed the visits from the nieces and nephews, the neighbor children, and t he school children who came to visit the lambs. Malenia worked for Eile rs Cheese for many years, and seasonally at Larsen Canning. She was the Pa st President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order Of The Purple H eart. She and Dan were very active in the Wayside-Morrison Lions Club, a nd active members of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church De Pere.
    Survivors include her sister-in-law, Angeline Baumgart, and numerous niec es and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; seven brothers, Martin, Hen ry, John, Bernard, Leonard, Aloysius, and William; three sisters, Alvir a, Rosella, and her twin, Hilaria. Members of Dan’s family further preced ed Malenia in death.

    Ronald A. Willems, 65, West Palm Beach, Fla., was called to join his Lord, May 3, 2012. Ron was born June 29, 1946, in Appleton, Wis. He married his loving wife, Cheryl (Grissman-Mitchler) on March 16, 2002. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1965. He proudly served in the Armed Forces from 1966 to 1968. Ron was employed by CH2MHill Engineering Firm as a Resident Project Representative. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of West Palm Beach Council 2075 as a Third Degree Knight. He was also a member of St. Juliana Catholic Church where he ushered. He joined the Cursillo Movement #53 over a year ago. Ron was a very caring, religious man whose friendly, smiling face will be missed by all.

    Lyle was a successful business man, having owned Lyle Green Trucking for many years, where he supported local farmers. He enjoyed working and driving his Nash Rambler, as well as travelling and going on cruises. Through his travels, he actively followed Anthony's ice hockey career.

    Family dispute KAUKAUNA AREA FATHER SHOT BY FORMER IN-LAW IN TEXAS BROWNWOOD, Texas - -
    A rural Freedom man was shot and killed here by his former father-in-law Wednesday afternoon when he attempted to pick up his children by a former marriage. Harland Green, 34, 10653 Vanden Bosch Road, Kaukauna, was killed instantly by a single shot from a 20-gauge shotgun. A warrant charging first-degree murder has been issued for Clarence Holland, 65 of rural Brownwood. According to Brown County, Texas, sheriff's deputies, Holland suffered an apparent heart attack after the shooting and is hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Brownwood hospital. They said the warrant would be served when Holland is released from the hospital. According to the Brown County deputies, Green and his present wife, Shirley, arrived at his former father-in-law's house about eight miles north of here about 11 A.M. to pick up the four children for the summer. An extended argument apparently ensued and Green was shot once in the chest from a distance of 8-10 feet. Sheriff's deputies found him slumped in a dining room chair about 3 P.M. They aid the shooting apparently occurred between 2 and 2:30 P.M. Holland reported the shooting himself, deputies said. They said that neither Green 's former wife nor his children were in the house at the time of the shooting. Brownwood is located about 100 miles south of Abilene in west-central Texas. Green was divorced from his first wife in October 1977, and she moved back to Texas about two years ago. He reportedly told friends before he left that he thought he might have difficulty in picking up the children for visitation. Green is survived by his wife, his mother, four children, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Monday at St Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, Wisconsin, Rev.     Anita Ann Smith, age 62, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home on November 30, 2008. Anita Ann was born on May 27, 1946, in Appleton, to Waunita (Koller) Willems and the late John Willems. She was a 1965 graduate of Stockbridge High School and later earned a degree in Child Care at Fox Valley Technical Institute. Anita Ann married John Smith on June 19, 1976, in New London. Her whole life was dedicated to caring for other people. This was best demonstrated in her more than 22 years of dedicated service at Little Angels Child Care Center.
    Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John; her mother, Wuanita Willems, Stockbridge; her children John R. (Kris) Smith, Combined Locks, and their children, Ryan, Jordan and Alaina; Roseann Smith, Green Bay; and William (Ashley) Smith, Appleton; her siblings, Lester Willems, Robert (Diane) Willems, Mary (Bruce) Pelkey and Mark (Debbie) Willems;. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her brother John, Jr.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and directly at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bear Creek. The family would like to thank all of Anita Ann's friends, family and neighbors for their prayers and kindness. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
