    Joshua T. Verbeten, of Kaukauna, age 23, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 11, 2008. A Memorial Service is tentatively set for Sunday at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna. A full obituary will appear in Saturday's paper. 920-766-2099
    TOWN OF VANDENBROEK - A man killed early Thursday in a one-vehicle crash near Claribel and Green Bay roads has been identified as Joshua Verbeten, 23, of Kaukauna.
    Outagamie County Coroner Ruth Wulgaert said Verbeten died of multiple blunt-force trauma.
    The Outagamie County Sheriff's Department said Verbeten's vehicle was headed east on State 96 when it entered a ditch, struck a tree, driveway culvert and power pole.
    He was thrown from the vehicle and pinned underneath, and his vehicle caught fire after the crash.
    Police said speed, alcohol and not wearing a seat belt were factors in the 2:10 a.m. crash.
    Verbeten's death is the ninth traffic fatality in Outagamie County this year, according to Wulgaert.

    Joshua P. "Josh" Verbeten, of Kaukauna, age 23, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 11, 2008. He was born May 28, 1985, in Appleton, son of Thomas Verbeten and Darlene (VerVoort) Price. Josh was a graduate of Kaukauna High School in 2003. He enjoyed shooting pool, golfing, and spending time outdoors. Hanging out with his friends and siblings was how he spent most of his time.
    He is survived by his father, Thomas J. (Cathy) Verbeten, Kaukauna; and mother, Darlene (Bob) Price, Kaukauna. He is loved and missed by his twin brother, Jon Verbeten; his sisters: Lora (Jeff) Moericke, Katie (Gio) Lange, and Jesse (Dan) Verbeten; nieces, Madysen and Hailey Moericke; also by his best friends: Nick Bouressa, Joe Fischer, Brett Fiestandt, Luke Hartzheim, Eric Huss, Jay Randerson, and many other close friends. Josh is further survived by his paternal grandmother, Rosella Verbeten; his paternal aunts and uncles: Diane (Jim) Behm, Karen (Tom) Verbeten, Donna George) Ottie, Debbie (Ken) Vander Heiden, Tim (Barb) Verbeten, Terry (Lisa) Verbeten, Shari (Al) Johnson, Sheila Verbeten, Joe (Kate) Verbeten, and John Verbeten; his maternal aunts and uncles: Fran (Judy) VerVoort, Rosemary (Dale) Van Elsen, Kay (Bill) Roskom, Gary (Karen) VerVoort, Dan (special friend Jane) VerVoort, and Bill (special friend Marcia) VerVoort. Josh will also be remembered and missed by his many close cousins.
    Josh will be remembered most for his easy going nature and his sense of humor. He was the kind of guy who would talk to anyone and everyone, and his smile will be missed by all who knew him.
    A Memorial Service for Joshua will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Friends may call on Sunday at the Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a charitable memorial fund will be established in Josh's name.
