    J. V. ROLLER DIES OF HEART AILMENT, Member of Fire and Police Commission, Succumbs at Home Following Visit Downtown
John V. Roller, a former alderman and at the time of his death a member of the fire and police commission, died at his home, 418 S. Spring street, at 11:15 o'clock Saturday morning. Mr. Roller went down town early Saturday morning and spent some time about the city hall as was his custom. Later he complained of feeling ill and was stricken in a local business establishment. He was at once removed to his home and physicians summoned, but he passed away a short time later. Mr. Roller had been suffering from a form of heart trouble for a number of years.
He was for many years engaged as a well driller and sank some of the larger wells in this city and vicinity during the time of his residence here.
He was born on a farm near Richwood and in this county, May 28, 1860, and received his education in the public schools of the township, at Richwood and in Watertown. Completing his education he engaged in farming with his father and later took up well digging, coming to this city in 1892 to continue his vocation here.
On June 24th, 1896, he was united in marriage with Miss Regina Weix of Leroy, who, with four children, Roman Roller of Chicago; Baldwin and Mrs. Robert Rosenmeier and Miss Lucile Roller of this city survive him. He was preceded in death by a son Arnold in 1921 and is also survived by a sister, Miss Minnie Roller, of Watertown.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter's church at nine o'clock Tuesday morning and were conducted by Rev. Budde, a nephew of the deceased. Burial was in St. Peter's cemetery.
