    Marie Jansen, 85, De Pere, passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2009. Marie was born Jan. 26, 1923, to the late Bernard and Clara (Gevers) Kempen in De Pere. She attended Nicolet High School and graduated in 1940. She married Norbert Jansen on Feb. 8, 1947, at St. Boniface Church in De Pere, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1979.
    Marie was a loving homemaker, raising her seven children. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and past president, a former member of Christian Mothers at St. Boniface. She very much enjoyed her time bowling, golfing, card playing, traveling and singing and yodeling with all of her family. She also loved to teach the family how to cook Booyah. Marie also enjoyed her time at their cottage on the bay.
    She is survived by her seven children, Ronald, De Pere; Marilyn (Tom) Knuth, De Pere; David (Sue) Jansen, Hobart; Jeanne (John) Valentine, De Pere; Gary (Mary Ann) Jansen, De Pere; Jeffrey Jansen, Suamico; Carol (Fred) Mindermann, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Rev. Gerald Kempen, O. Praem., Bernard Kempen, Jr., Bernice Gevaert, Roseanne (Dan) Polley.
    Marie was preceded in death by her infant son, Peter; her loving husband; brothers, Marvin, Norman, Albert, Gilbert, Adrian and Raphael Kempen; and her sisters, Johanna Kempen and Elaine Deacon.
    Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with Ladies Auxiliary and Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Suburban and Lourdes Ave., De Pere, until time of service at 10:30 a.m. with Father Tim Shillcox, O.     Father Gerald Bernard Kempen, O. Praem., 85, a member of the Norbertine Community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, Wis., passed into God's eternal kingdom on Sept., 17, 2011.
    Father Kempen was born on July 23, 1926, in De Pere, Wis., to Bernard and Clara (Gevers) Kempen. His home parish was St. Boniface Parish, De Pere, Wis.
    In 1944, Father Kempen graduated from St. Norbert High School, De Pere, Wis., and in 1948, from St. Norbert College. He received an MA in American History/European History in 1956 and an MA in Education/Drama in 1958 from Villanova University, Villanova, Penn.
    Upon entering St. Norbert Abbey, he was vested as a novice on Aug. 28, 1944. He professed Simple Vows on Aug. 28, 1946, Solemn Vows on Aug. 28, 1949 and was ordained to the Priesthood on May 19, 1951.
    During "a full and wonderful Life" as a Norbertine, Father Kempen taught from 1948 to 1970 at
    St. Norbert High School, De Pere, Southeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia, Penn., and Abbot Pennings High School, De Pere, where he served as Vice-Principal for six years. Father served as Pastor at St. Louis Parish (Dyckesville), Luxemburg, Wis., St. Boniface Parish, De Pere, St. Margaret Parish, Cut Bank, Mont., Holy Cross Parish (Bay Settlement) Green Bay, and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, (Tisch Mills) Denmark, Wis.
    Other positions held by Father Kempen include Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus and Vicar-Vicariate VII of the Diocese of Green Bay.
    Father Kempen is survived by the Norbertine Community; one brother, Bernard (Patricia); two sisters, Bernice Gevaert, Rose Ann (Don) Polley; nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Marvin, Albert, Gilbert, Adrian, Raphael and Norman; three sisters, Johanna Kempen, Marie Jansen and Elaine Deacon.
    The Reception of the Body/Vespers of the Dead will be held at St. Norbert Abbey Church on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at 7 p.m. Visitation will follow until 8:30 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Abbey Church at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011. Rt. Rev. Gary J. Neville, O. Praem., Abbot of St. Norbert Abbey, will preside at the funeral liturgy. Please fo to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.     Gary P. Jansen, 61, of De Pere, passed away on Saturday October 11, 2014 at a local hospital. The son of the late Norbert and Marie (Kempen) Jansen was born March 17, 1953 in Green Bay. He was a graduate of Abbot Pennings High School and Fox Valley Vocational School. He married the former Mary Ann Mennen in De Pere on April 15, 1978.
    Gary loved the outdoors, fishing, snowmobiling, and his time at the family cottage on the Bay. Gary considered nature as his Cathedral. He and Mary Ann loved to travel and he especially loved his time vacationing in the Rocky Mountains. He loved to "putter" and wanted to spend his time "puttering in the shed". Gary was employed at Stock Lumber and was currently employed at Wood Port Doors. Gary had a deep love of music and shared that interest with many.
    Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, siblings Ron Jansen, Marilyn (Tom) Knuth, Dave Jansen, Jeanne (John) Valentine, Jeff (Dee) Jansen and Carol Mindermann, brothers-in-law, Peter (Angie) Mennen and Paul Mennen, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Marie (Kempen) Jansen and his brother, Peter Jansen.
