    Obituary:
    J. C. Kimberly Is Dead at 90 Son of One of Four Founders Of Kimberly-Clark Dies at His Home NEENAH — James Cheney] Kimberly, 90, father of John K. Kimberly, chairman of the board of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, died Tuesday afternoon at his home, 416 E. Wisconsin Ave. Kimberly, son of one of the four founders of Kimberly-Clark, was himself associated with the company for more than 50 years. He started his career in the paper business during summer vacations from school and after his graduation from college, began work at the Kimberly-Clark mill in Kimberly. There he learned the paper business from the woodroom to manufacturing to office management. He was, in the early years, the company's only salesman. Retired in 1928 Kimberly served the company as vice president from 1907 until 1923 when he retired, and as director from 1907 until 1945. He also was actively associated with the Neenah Paper Co., now a division of Kimberly-Clark. He was elected a director in 1398 and served as president from July 9, 1928, until Jan. 15. 1941,when he was named chairman of the board. He retired as board chairman and director during September of 1951. Kimberly, in 1932, provided the funds for construction of a library at the Institute of Paper Chemistry and provided for the library's perpetual endowment. At the dedication, it was said the new buildings, erected during the world's greatest economic crisis, shall always be a monument to J. C. Kimberly's courage and far-seeing ideals...stand- ing as an inspiration to those who are going to benefit by it and all who are interested in higher education and in the welfare of the pulp and paper industry. Was Given Degree Twenty-five years later, in 1957, Lawrence College presented Kimberly with an honorary degree of doctor of laws. The citation read: "We are a country in some ways mad with publicity, mad for the passing moment, the passing sensation." The folly of this is apparent if we consider a truly distinguished life...its devotion to family honor and public good, its love of those things which endure as human custom, a way of life. We do not want to embarrass you, and we say only that in honoring you we honor the best of responsible life in industry, in civic concern, in education philanthropy." Mr. Kimberly gave the Kimberly homestead in Neenah to the Visiting Nurse Association of Neenah and Menasha, and with members of his family, he set up an endownment for its maintenance. His other philanthropic activities are many and varied. Founded Yacht Club He founded the Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club and served as its commodore for many years, and was active in organizing the Inland Lakes Yachting Association. Only recently, Kimberly wrote and published a book about the history of inland lakes yachting and Nodaway Club in particular. Born Nov. 30, 1870, in Neenah, Kimberly studied at Philips Andover Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He Ill., on June 29, 1897. He is survived by his wife; two sons. John R., chairman of the board of Kimberly-Clark, and James II., of Neenah and Chicago, and one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Carpenter, of Minneapolis.

    Obituary:
SUTTER, SUSAN KIMBERLY. Born on June 20, 1922 in Neenah, Wisconsin, Susan died there, at home, on August 10, 2013 at the age of 91. Daughter of Alfred Knox Kimberly and Helen Harmon and great-grand daughter of John Alfred and Helen Cheney Kimberly, she was raised in Neenah, went to college in Missouri and then at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh where she met Walter F. Sutter. They were married in Milwaukee on July 19, 1941. They were living in Niagara Falls, New York on December 7, 1941 and the next year Walter enlisted in the United States Navy. After stops in Boston, Princeton, Washington D.C. and New York City, they were stationed in San Francisco for the duration of World War II. Their first child, Helen Mary, was born in Oshkosh on July 11, 1944. After the war Susan and Walter returned to Neenah. Soon followed daughter Ann Elizabeth (1947), sons Thomas Henry (1949) and David Knox (1950) and daughter Susan Kate (1952). In 1953 the family moved to Redlands, California and lived there until August 1964. In Redlands, daughters Margaret Louise (1955) and Kimberly Jean (1957) were born. Upon returning to Neenah Susan lived nearly half of her life at her present residence. Walter passed away on December 26, 2004. Susan tried many forms of artwork over the years from stitching to quilting to mosaics and stained glass but was best known for her jewelry and lapidary work. She was also known for her poetry and her Lady Bug stories. Those who knew her were most amazed at the life-long friendships she cultivated with her school-age friends Donna (Danke) Miller, Ruth "Poofie" (Cannon) Valenzuela and Edna (Swentner) Palmer. Susan and Walter were blessed with thirteen grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. Susan met life as it was and made the best of it. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Susan is survived by: Helen and Dale Fridley and their two sons, David and his wife Tracey Fridley and their children Tyler, Brianna, Ethan, Kaden, Asher and Rylan; Jason and his wife Tricia Fridley and their daughter Lucy; Ann and Matthew Marks and their three sons, Jeff Marks; Jon and his wife Jackie Marks and their children Kylee and Connor; Ben and his wife Melanie Marks; Thomas and Janet Sutter and sons Steve and his wife Sara Sutter and Stuart Sutter; daughter-in-law Doreen Sutter and her daughter Jessie and her husband Ken Sutter and their children Xavier and Rose; Susan Kate Sutter; Margaret Peterson and her four children Ryan Peterson, Blake Peterson, Jennifer Peterson and Scott Peterson; Kimberly and Steve Schueffner and their daughter Amy Schueffner. She is also survived by nieces and nephews on both hers and Walter's side of the family. In addition to Walter, Susan was also preceded in death by her son David, son-in-law Kenneth Peterson and her brothers John A. Kimberly III and William K. Kimberly.
Susan took pride in the fact that her Kimberly and Washburn ancestors had come to North America in the 1630's and to Wisconsin in the 1840's.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the wonderful care givers from Home Helpers who patiently, kindly and with good cheer helped Susan along on her final journey here on earth. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 beginning at 1 pm at Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah, Wisconsin.
