    Obituary:
Sylvester "Mouse" Mauthe, age 87, passed away after a lingering illness on Monday morning, April 23, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mouse was born in Appleton on July 3, 1924, son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Beringer) Mauthe. He attended Appleton High School, served in the United States Army for two years, and married Maurine Van Weele at St. Joseph Catholic Church on September 3, 1949. The couple has shared over sixty-two wonderful years together. For over forty years, Mouse worked at Kimberly - Clark's Lakeview plant, where he maintained nearly perfect attendance. In his younger years, he loved to play softball and volleyball, as well as hunting and fishing up north. For many years he drove a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mouse also loved to dance. Many times he was overheard saying that he would rather dance than eat! His grandchildren were the apples of his eye - he never missed an athletic or musical event.
Survivors include his wife: Maurine Mauthe of Appleton; four children: Barbara Mauthe of Appleton; David (Annette) Mauthe of Appleton; Kathy (Greg) Gilmour of Kimberly; and Janet (John) Smith of Green Bay; twelve grandchildren: Emily and Kevin Mauthe; Meghan, Michael, and Molly Gilmour; Daniel (Rachael) Smith; and Jessica, Peter, John, Mary, Lizzy, and Anna Smith; a sister-in-law: Mary Jane (Robert) Rechner of Tomahawk; a brother-in-law: Bill Van Weele of Appleton; and a former son-in-law: Larry Keuler of Kiel. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Mouse was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Lynn Keuler, and a sister Virginia (Melvin) Plamann.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
