    Ethel H. Schmahl, age 89, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Chilton, died on Mo nday, January 23, 2006, in Rockford. She was born on August 19, 1916, in K aukauna, daughter of the late John and Emma (Lockow) Helmke. She married H enry Schmahl on April 22, 1939 in Chilton, he preceded her in death on Apr il 19, 1990. She had worked for the Richardson Rod & Reel Co. in Chilton a nd the Central House in Chilton.
    Ethel was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and a memb er of the Ladies Aid.
    Survivors include her daughters: Joan (Ron) Raschke of Rockford, IL; Ru th (Paul) Ziegelbauer of Chilton; six grandchildren: Nancy (Eric) Raschke- Deitchsetter of Naperville; Paula (Rick) Lind of Rockford; Diane (Dr. Vinc e) Zammuto of Rockford; Greg (Donna) Raschke of Rockford; Jeff (Sandy) Zie gelbauer of Chilton; Ellen (Joe) Krebsbach of Chilton; 16 great-grandchild ren: Kurt, Kirsten, Kaley and Kim Deitchsetter, Monica and Anthony Lind, J ohn Szleszinski, Peter, Nicholas, and Samuel Zammuto, Anna and Karen Rasch ke, Kyle, Nicholas, and Kayla Krebsbach, Emily Ott; two sisters: Bev (Wayn e) Olson of Sherwood; Ruth (Elmer) Bebeau of Tempe, FL; six sisters-in-la w: Kay Kemerling of Lindstrom, MN; Emma Helmke of Grinnell, IA; Louise (Ro bert) Kleinschmidt of Saginaw, MI; Bev Schmahl of Srasota, FL; Margaret He lmke of Bangor ME; and Alma Schmahl of Fond du Lac.
    Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Wie ting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Way ne Huebner officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday in the Charlest own Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. on Fr iday until the time of services.
