    Ahrens, Derald H. "Bud", Appleton, 81, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center with his family by his side. Bud was born July 21, 1926, in the Town of Center, Wis., to the late Edwin Sr. and Hulda (Semrow) Ahrens. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1944 and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bud was an electrician at the Appleton Wire Works for the first half of his career and then the electrician for the Appleton Area Schools, retiring in June 1988. He was united in marriage to Shila Nagreen on February 6, 1965.
    Bud was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2778 and a volunteer at the Appleton Medical Center for many years. Bud also served two terms as Alderman for Appleton's 2nd ward in the 1960's. For many years Bud was a member of the Fox Valley Lutheran High School General Board.
    Bud is survived by his loving wife, Shila, sons; Dale Ahrens of Winneconne; Bruce (Ruth) Ahrens of Neenah; and Steve (Diane) Ahrens of Menasha; daughters, Deraldean Combs (special friend Jack) of Hortonville; and Deborah Ahrens (special friend Harry) of Winneconne. He is further survived by his sister, Joan Hoeper of Neenah; brothers, Robert Ahrens (special friend Simone) of Victoria, Texas; and Gary (Erlinda) of Menasha; sister-in-law, Janet Ahrens; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bud will also be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews.
    Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin Jr., James and Melvin, who died in infancy in 1924; a brother-in-law, Richard Hoeper; and sister-in-law Betty Ahrens.
    Funeral services for Bud will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton, with Pastor Waack officiating. Friends will be received at church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park at 2 p.m.
    The family would like to thank to the staff of 2 South and the Rehabilitation Unit at Theda Clark Hospital, the staff at Rennes Health Center, the staff of 2 South and 3 South of Appleton Medical Center with a special thank you to Dr. Amelia Al-Abbas.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

    Joan E. (Ahrens) Hoeper, age 74, Neenah, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Joan was born February 5, 1936, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Edwin and Hulda (Semrow) Ahrens. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1954, and was united in marriage to Richard Hoeper on May 26, 1956, in Appleton. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1993. The Hoepers were Neenah residents for many years; Joan was formerly employed with Neenah Park and Market grocery store for 20 years and worked for Kimberly-Clark for 21 years. Joan enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and friends. Joan and Richard together enjoyed camping in the Wautoma area.
    Survivors include her four daughters: Rebecca (Dennis) Noone, Cheryl (Michael) Sloan, Lori (Rick) Anderson, and Gayle Hoeper; six grandchildren: Kacey Noone, Nick Lodholz, Allison and Alex Springer, LeAnne Boetcher, and Lauren Anderson; her brothers: Robert Ahrens and Gary Ahrens; sisters-in-law: Shila Ahrens, Janet Ahrens, Marilyn Hoeper, and Robin Hoeper; brothers-in-law: Michael Hoeper and LaVohn Parker, and many nieces and nephews.
    Joan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her in-laws, three brothers: Edwin Ahrens, Jr., Derald Ahrens, and James Ahrens; a sister-in-law, Jean Parker; a brother-in-law, Jack Hoeper; and a special friend, Jerry Schneider.
    The Funeral Service for Joan will be Monday, April 19, 2010, 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Neenah, with the Rev. Stephen Dietzler officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Joan's name.

    Ron Ahrens, age 70, of Freedom passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at ThedaClark Hospital as a result of a stroke. He was born June 5, 1943 son of Myrtle Ahrens and the late Edwin Ahrens, Jr.
    He was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Center.
    Ron served in the US Air Force as a radar technician and worked in the communications industry before retiring from AT&T. Following retirement he also worked with NSP and ATC.
    On October 21, 1994he was united in marriage to Christine Francois.
    He was a hobbyist with classic cars, hotrods, and model trains. Ron was involved in the Fox Valley Street Rod Association. He was also known to fill up your email box, loved to start a project, play with and build pyrotechnics, and accept the challenge of a complicated puzzle. Ron was full of humor, practicing his skills on his friends, family, and even a store mannequin or two. You would often hear CCR and Duane Eddy playing any time you were around Ron.
    Ron took pride in the Cabin (Ron's Six-Pack Shack) and its construction. There are also many memories of the various construction injuries. He leaves behind a legacy of the moments spent with his son Randy "up north".
    Every child was dear to Ron. Ron's grandson Lucas, his best buddy, will miss the time he spent with "dad".
    Chris recently managed to get Ron to travel, visiting Washington DC, New York, and Savannah, Georgia.
    Ron is survived by his wife Chris; son, Randy (Kerry) Ahrens, Menasha; daughters: Rochelle "Shelley" Ahrens, Wauwatosa (the only person that could call him by his real name); Renee Hansen, Menasha; grandchildren: Lucas, Elyse, and Sydney; mother, Myrtle Ahrens, Appleton; sister; Bonnie (David) Bacon, Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Deborah Francois, Green Bay; nephew, Greg (Kendra) Bacon, Parker, CO; niece, Elizabeth (Ryan) Chreist, Boulder, CO. Ron is also survived by other relatives, friends, and granddog, Gomez.
    Ron was preceded in death by his father.
    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will continue at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Center, on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Jeffrey Suhr and Pastor Micah Martin will be officiating. The Freedom VFW Post will be conducting military honors at the church. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
