    Alice E. Hamilton of Appleton, age 89, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at her home. She was born June 5, 1915, in Maple Creek, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Gustave and Edith (Mansfield) Affeldt. The Hamiltons were longtime residents of North Appleton Street. Alice was employed by the City of Appleton, working as a crossing guard at Columbus School. For many years, she really enjoyed the school children.
    Survivors include her children: Carol (Ron) Barr, of Appleton, William (Sue) Hamilton, of Madison, Harlene Miller of California, Nancy Spindler of Neenah, and Jim (Pat) Hamilton of Maryland; there are 19 grandchildren: Rhonda Barr-Schmoll, Renee Barr, Mike Barr, Shelly Sprinkman, Kristin Hamilton, Jeanette Miller, Jennifer Blizzard, David Hamilton, Richard Hamilton, David Hamilton, Steve Hamilton, Susan Hamilton, Sharon Baum, Kathy Hahlbeck, Dorothy Andrew, Darlene Hamilton, Debra Hamilton, Linda Ballard, and Karen St. Pierre; there are 35 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson; two brothers: Alvin Affeldt, of Florida, and Arnie (Gordis) Dalum, of Menasha; three sisters: Anita Stake and Ada Chase, of Wisconsin, and Ardis (John) Christensen, of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Helen Affeldt, and a brother-in-law, Leon Zitske, both of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
    Alice was preceded in death by her husbands: Harvey Uecker, in May 1940, and William Hamilton, in January 1975; two brothers: Arthur Affeldt and Alton (Vivian) Affeldt; a sister, Arbutus Zitske; and two sons: Richard Hamilton and John (Shirley) Hamilton.
    Funeral services for Alice will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 South Allen Street, Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Interment will take place in Appleton Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services directly at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, 54911.

    BEAR CREEK Youth Killed In 1-Car Crash
    Albert Affeldt Dies When Auto Slams Into Bridge Railing
    A Bear Creek youth who died early Sunday was one of 14 persons killed on Wisconsin highways over the weekend. Albert E. Affeldt, 19. died at New London Community Hospital about 12:15 am Sunday,nearly two hours after the car in which he was a passenger, slammed into a bridge railing on State 76 near Outagamie County Trunk W, eight miles southeast of Bear Creek. Coroner Bernard H. Kemps said Affeldt died of severe head injuries. Three other young people were hospitalized as a result of thecrash. They were Thomas McGinty, 22, Bear Creek, driver of the car, suffered face cuts and a fractured left ankle; his brother, Leo, 20, also of Bear Creek, and Darrell DM Zitzke, 21, route 1, Bear Creek, who suffered a fractured nose and minor cuts to the forehead and legs. Zitzke was released from the hospital Leo McGinty remains in New London Community Hospital and Thomas McGinty is in satisfactory condition at Theda Clark Memorial Hospital, Neenah. Left Road Outagamie County police said the McGinty car was southbound on State 76 when it left the roadway on the south side, on a curve. The car traveled 691 feet, crossed the roadway and struck a bridge railing on the north side of the highway. The 1966 auto was demolished. Authorities said Affeldt was riding in the front seat of the auto. Affeldt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Affeldt, was a 1968 graduate of Bear Creek High School. He was a student at Fox Valley Institute, Appleton, and worked part-time at Neenah Foundry. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Clintonville. Burial will be in Danish Cemetery, Bear Creek. Friends may call at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, after 2 p.m. today.
