    Biography:
    AUGUST WUNDROW, who has spent his entire life on the farm which he now operates, a tract of 127 acres situated on sections 26, 27 and 33, Buchanan township, has been prominently identified with the agricultural and public interests of this district for a number of years. Mr. Wundrow was born on this property, December 19, 1870, and is a son of Frederick and Johanna (Harp) Wundrow, natives of the Fatherland, who were married in Germany and came to America shortly thereafter, settling first in New York. They came to Wisconsin before the outbreak of the Civil War, Mr. Wundrow's first wife dying in Menasha, in which city he was again married. After his second marriage, Mr. Wundrow came to Outagamie county, and bought seventytwo acres of land, a part of the property that is now being operated by his son August, at that time all wild land. He had to cut down trees and hew logs to build his first log home, a structure 18x24 feet, and here he resided until his death, November 30, 1904, aged seventy-three years, at which time he had a farm of eighty acres in a high state of cultivation. Mrs. Wundrow died August 27, 1907, aged seventy-six years and both were buried in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. There were eight children born to Frederick and Johanna (Harp) Wundrow, and August was the seventh in order of birth. He has always resided on the home property, and after the death of his father purchased the interests of the other heirs. He was married November 18, 1896, to Miss Louisa Hupfauf, who was born February 24, 1878, the eldest of the four children of George and Julia (Roglar) Hupfauf, natives of Germany who came to America in early life and were married in Calumet county, where Mr. Hupfauf still resides. Mrs. Wundrow died December 25, 1902, and is buried at Riverside cemetery, having been the mother of three children: Arthur, Walter and Elsie, the latter of whom died in childhood. On July 13, 1904, Mr. Wundrow was married (second) to Miss Mary Gergs, born June 16, 1884, in Chicago, Illinois, the sixth of the eight children born to John and Matilda (Frause) Gergs, natives of Germany. They were married in the Fatherland and first emigrated to London, but after five years there came to the United States and located in Chicago. They came thence to Marshfield, Wisconsin, when Mrs. Wundrow was but a child, and they still reside at that place, Mr. Gergs being sixtythree years of age and his wife fifty-seven. Three children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Wundrow: Adela, Harvey and Elsie. Mr. Wundrow has all but five acres of his land under cultivation, and it is all fenced by barbed and woven wire. He carries on general farming and stock raising, markets dairy, products, cattle and some grain, and milks ten graded Short Horn and Guernsey cows. He keeps Poland-China hogs and breeds to Belgian horses, having an interest in the Belgian stud. His barn is 34x56 feet, and was built in 1875 and remodeled in 1911, when a basement was added and patent stanchions were put in. Another barn, 32x44 feet, was built in 1880, and the residence, a frame, two-story structure of nine rooms, in 1882. His water supply is secured from drilled wells. In politics, Mr. Wundrow is a Republican, and for four years he has been a member of the board of supervisors, as well as having been a member of the school board for six years. The family religious connection is with the Zion Lutheran Church of Appleton.

    Adela M. Heidemann, Appleton, age 102, died on Thursday, September 18, 2008, with her family by her side. Adela was born on December 1, 1905, in the Town of Buchanan, daughter of the late August and Mary (Gergs) Wundrow. She married Bernard Heidemann on November 21, 1933. They were married for 66 years before Bernard died in 1999. Adela was a charter member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Riverside Cemetery in Appleton. Church was very important to Adela. One of her favorite hobbies was playing the organ by ear for members of her family.
    Adela is survived by her brother, Clarence (Ethel) Wundrow, Town of Buchanan; her sister, Hazel Norman, Appleton; and her sister-in-law, Myrtle Wundrow, Little Chute. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, Adela was preceded in death by her brothers: Harvey, Elmer, Ray, Arthur, Walter and Leonard Wundrow and an infant brother Robert. She was also preceded by her brother-in-law, Lawrence Norman.
    Funeral services for Adela will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008, at OUR SAVIOUR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade Street, Appleton, with Rev. Beth Macha officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Appleton Health Care Center and Heartland Hospice for all the care given to Adela.

    Clarence H. Wundrow, age 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday April 6, 2013 at St. Paul Villa. Clarence was born January 28, 1918 in the Town of Buchanan, Outagamie County, State of Wisconsin, the 3rd son of the late August and Mary (Gergs) Wundrow. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Church in Appleton. Clarence married Ethel Hickinbotham on June 1, 1941, enjoying 70 years of marriage. They lived in the Town of Buchanan their entire married lives until retiring to the St. Paul Villa in Kaukauna in 2008. Clarence joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 1937, and was inducted into the US Army in 1940. Clarence was a full time dairy farmer until 1967. He then worked at Badger Northland in Kaukauna, retiring in 1980. Clarence was an intelligent and talented man, possessing wonderful people skills and he used all of these gifts during his lifetime in a variety of activities. He was a sub-mail carrier in Route #4 of Appleton, serving in this until 1968, after 32 years. He was elected Town Clerk of Buchanan in 1957, serving for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was assessor for the Town of Buchanan for 6 years and Commissioner of the Darboy Joint Sanitary District for 25 years, retiring in 1997. Clarence was a charter member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Kimberly from 1937, serving in many capacities of the congregation.
    He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Briggs (Larry Stanton) and Kay (Horst) Klemm and his three sons, Ken (Debi Shepherd-Wundrow), Keith (Ann) and Kevin (Cindy); his sister, Hazel Norman; a sister-in-law, Janet Milbauer; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Ethel; a son, Karl; his half-brothers and sister, Arthur (Gladys), Walter (Irene) and Elsie; his brothers and sisters, Adela (Ben) Heideman, Harvey (Hilda), Elsie (Harry)Warren, Ray (Della), Elmer (Harriet), Robert and Leonard (Myrtle).
    Clarence will be remembered as a man who loved to talk with everyone and always had a story to share. He loved his pond at the house, spending many hours keeping it in order. But he enjoyed the fruits of that labor with a catch or two for lunch. His family, though, was the joy of his life. He loved the visits and phone calls, keeping him entertained with the stories of their lives. He will also be remembered as a man who lovingly took care of his wife during the last years of her life.
    Funeral services for Clarence will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday April 20, 2013 at Mt Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, N8728 Coop Rd., Menasha with Pastor Jesse Johnston officiating.     Lawrence Jandrey, age 87, of Kaukauna, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Cherry Meadows. He was born on July 30, 1926 in the Town of Rantoul, the son of the late Charles and Minnie (Wunrow) Jandrey. On June 19, 1976, Larry married Lucina (Hartjes) Kerkhoff at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Kaukauna. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Johnston-Blessman Post #38 American Legion. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a steamfitter and pipefitter at many businesses in the area. Larry belonged to the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
    Larry is survived by his wife Lucina; children: Larry Jr. Jandrey, Ron (Kaye) Jandrey, Tim (Janine) Jandrey, Major Bruce Jandrey USAF, retired, Nancy (Daniel) Appleton, Roger (Kathie) Kerkhoff, and Gary (Ginger) Kerkhoff; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Lorraine Dickert (Larry's twin sister), Donald (Muriel) Jandrey, Doris Jandrey, and William (Cheryle) Jandrey; and sisters-in-law: Janice, Shirley, and Sophia Jandrey. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his first wife Audrey, brothers Glenroy, Charles, and Eugene Jandrey; and brother-in-law Willard Dickert.
    The funeral service for Larry will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 28, 2014 at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2220 E. College Avenue in Appleton. Rev. Martin E. Koeller and Rev. Timothy Seabaugh will be officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service.     Rose Marie Weyenberg, 90, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, January 23, 2015. She was born on August 12, 1924, daughter of John and Henrietta (Jennerjahn) Verhagen. On August 28, 1942, Rose was united in marriage to Raymond Weyenberg. She was a sweet, simple lady, who will be truly missed.
    Rose is survived by her daughter, Carol Feldkamp; her sons: Bill and Dan Weyenberg; grandchildren: Christopher Feldkamp, Cassandra (Mark) David and Carrie (Robert) Stangler; two great-grandsons: Wesley and Grayson; and a sister-in-law, Darleen Verhagen. Also of mention should be some incredibly special nieces and nephews .
    Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; a brother James Verhagen; brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Helen) Weyenberg, Frank (Harriet) Weyenberg, Martin (Frances) Weyenberg, Marie (Jake) Lamers and Cecilia (Norm) Vander Heyden.

    WAUSAUKEE, Wis. - Robert Leonard Jahnke, 80, of Wausaukee, Wis., died Thursday, Dec. 4, in De Pere, Wis., under hospice care.
    The son of Mr. and Mrs. William (Minnie Wundrow) Jahnke was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Appleton, Wis. On June 4, 1949, he married the former Beverly Hardin in Appleton and in 1972 they moved to Wausaukee. He was self-employed as a master plumber.
    He is survived by his wife; four sons, Don (Jennifer) of LuVerne, Minn., Doug (Jacqueline) of Warren, R.I., Daniel (Lisa) of Marquette, Mich., and David (Jennifer) of Suring, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Pam (Steve) Hines of Oconto Falls, Wis.; four grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Hines, Brittney Jahnke and Danielle Jahnke; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Caden. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Arthur, Helmuth and Frederick.
    Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Kingdom Hall in Wausaukee. Messar Funeral Home of Wausaukee served the family.

    Salmer H. "Sam" Pingel, age 91, of the Land O'Lakes area since 1965 and formerly of Chilton, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on June 19, 1918, in Chilton to William and Linda (Teege) Pingel. Sam was a truck driver for Foremost Dairy. He was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Sam served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the European Theater.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Pingel; a sister-in-law, Renoma "Noni" Pingel, nee Busma; his wife, Eileen Hemauer-Pingel, and stepson, Michael Hemauer.

    Steiner, Caroline (Pingel) Caroline (Pingel) Steiner, age 80, of Chilton died on November 25, 2011. She was born June 21, 1931, daughter of the late Carl (Otto) and Laura (Wildenburg) Pingel. She graduated in 1950 from New Holstein High School. She married Melvin Steiner of New Holstein on June 19, 1951. Following her marriage, Caroline and her husband went into dairy & poultry operation, and she later worked at the Inter Parish Ministry for 17 years. Caroline and her husband began the St. Charles Parish Picnic in 1980 that continues to this day as the Good Shepherd Parish Picnic. Caroline knew that the youth of her community was an invaluable resource and volunteered 35 years by leading in 4-H Clubs and Catholic Tech Weekends. She was a member of the Daughters' of Isabella and Christian Mothers for many years. Her humble service to others and love for her family was unmatched. Caroline was always willing to help others while asking nothing in return.     Wiese, Ruth J. (Mrs. Donald) Ruth Wiese, 84, Appleton, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Brewster Village following a brief battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Appleton, daughter of the late Edward and Irma (Lemke) Schmaling. Following Edward's death when Ruth was only four years old, Irma married Art Schmaling, whom she looked on as her special loving father. She married Donald Wiese on April 12, 1947, sharing 59 years together before his death on Oct. 21, 2006.
    Ruth was employed by Zwicker Knitting Mills. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Along with her many volunteer activities in church, Ruth was involved with the Rachel Circle and Zion Knitters. She was an avid bowler and particularly enjoyed her Sunday afternoon card club with her many friends.
    Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Judy Wiese, Appleton; two grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Wiese, Appleton; Ryan Wiese, Minneapolis, Minn.; a great-grandson, Gavin Wiese (Little Punkin); three brothers-in-law, Vernon Wiese, Appleton; Lenard (Muriel) Wiese, Brownsville, Texas; Paul (Shirley) Wiese, Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Edna Wiese, Milwaukee; a cousin, Dave (Betty) Mueller, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Carl Wiese; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly Wiese and Verla Wiese.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., with the Rev. Alan Schaffmeyer officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
    A memorial fund had been established.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Brewster Village and to Heartland Hospice for making Ruth's final months comfortable and for being there for our family.

    Rohm, Glen O.: Glen O. Rohm, 70, Appleton, Wis., passed away at home early Saturday morning March 4, 2006, after a four year struggle with colon and liver cancer. Glen was born on March 28, 1935, in the Town of Osborn to the late Orray and Olga (Schmaling) Rohm. After attending Maple Grove School for eight years and graduating from Seymour High School in 1953, he entered the United States Army in September of that year. He was honorably discharged in the fall of 1955 and worked for a short time at Fox River Tractor Company. Glen gained employment at Miller Electric Mfg. Co. in Appleton in April of 1956. He continued working there for thirty seven years retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Miller's. Glen was a lifelong member of the Freedom Moravian Church serving on many boards and committees. He taught Sunday School for many years and was the Sunday School Superintendent for fifteen years. Over the years he built many items in the church and parsonage. Glen spent several years helping to build cabins for the Moravian camping center in Mt. Morris, Wisconsin. Glen enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a backyard bird watcher. He was an excellent carpenter and built many pieces of furniture, grandfather clocks and other wooden pieces for his family and friends. He also enjoyed volunteering at Appleton Medical Center and volunteered in the Appleton School District helping young people with reading. Glen married Janet Brown on August 31, 1957.

He was born on December 17, 1927 and farmed his entire life in the To wn of Center. On July 4, 1959, he married Jean L. Fischer at St. Edward 's Catholic Church, Mackville, WI. He was a past board member of the Wisco nsin Pork Producers Association. He was a past board member and farm jud ge for the A.S.C.S. Bob was an avid bowler before he became ill. He wi ll be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brothe r. He was honest, caring, hard working and humble.Survivors include his wife, Jean; four children: Gregory (Karon), Brenda ( Dave) De Groot, Bradley (Kathy), and Philip (special friend Ann), all in t he town of Center; two beloved grandchildren: Jessica and Jacob De Groot w hom he babysat since they were six weeks old; three beloved step grandchil dren: Jeff (Sara) Karweick of Theresa, WI, Jill Karweick of Center, and Sa mantha Mayville of Center; one step great-grandson, Kole Karweick. He is f urther survived by three sisters: Shirley Anderson of Appleton, Donna (Ji m) Seidl of Appleton, Betty (Norbert) Kussow of De Pere; four brothers: Do nald (Caroline) of Land O Lakes, Arnold of Appleton and Ronald (Mary) of C enter, and Rheinold of Appleton. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Mil an (Vergean) Fischer of Manitowoc; his step father-in-law, Leonard (Pet e) Hermes and a special friend, Jean; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Irma Nettekoven, an in fant sibling; his mother-in-law, Verna Fischer Hermes; a brother-in-law, K enneth Fischer; and a brother-in-law, Dave Anderson.The family is very grateful to Dr. Steven Price and his staff, Dr. Timot hy Wycoff and staff for their loving concern and help. The family is al so grateful for Theda Care at Home Hospice for their professional loving c are and help.     Nichols - Donald A. Nettekoven, 89, of Nichols, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 19, 1929, son of the late Arnold and Irma (Schmaling) Nettekoven.
    On August 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Caroline John. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2014.
    Don farmed for many years before starting a career at Appleton Papers. Following retirement Don and Caroline moved to Land O'Lakes prior to moving to Nichols in 2005.
    He is survived by his children: Jeff (Margie) Nettekoven, Seymour; Alan (Kim) Nettekoven, Appleton; Debbie (John) Meulemans, Nichols; eight grandchildren: Mike, Tammy, Andrew (Amanda), Alex (Becca), Zachary and Jared (Chelsea) Nettekoven, Jason (Becky) and Peter (Amanda) Meulemans; nine great-grandchildren: Brandon, Drew Ann, Tynne, Dylan, Brianna, Finleigh, Kashton, Mackenzie, and Hailey; brothers and sisters: Arnold Nettekoven, Ronald (Mary Ann) Nettekoven, Reinhold Nettekoven, Shirley Anderson, Betty (Norb) Kussow, and Donna (Jim) Seidl; sisters-in-law: Jean Nettekoven, Margaret (Jerome) Wichman, Lucille Wichman, and Rosemary John; special god child Eva Nettekoven; numerous nieces and nephews.
    Donald was preceded in death by a son, Michal; brother, Robert; and an infant brother.

    Kristine Marie (Kussow) Meulemans, 44, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at her home following a courageous 8 year battle with cancer. She was born April 3, 1971 in Green Bay, daughter to Norbert and Elizabeth "Betty" (Nettekoven) Kussow. She graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1989 and received her Associate Degree from NWTC. Kris worked at Humana for 15 years. She was well-known for being Brown County Dairy Promotions Coordinator and was known as the "Dairy Lady" or "Miss Moo". She had a goal to present to more than 10,000 kids in one year, a goal she took great pride in achieving.
    Kris enjoyed walking, running (she ran a 10K with her kids while she was in treatment), and home projects. One of the many ways she left the world a more beautiful place was how she took care of her garden and yard. Her yard was the "unofficial" Wrightstown Beautification Project. She also loved traveling, especially to the beach. The sun helped her feel better and made her smile.
    Kris brought joy to everyone. Her smile and love for others was contagious and everybody loved being around her. Kris always looked for opportunities to help others, even until the end. Kris' greatest joy was being a Mom. She loved her children and cherished spending time with them.
    She will be deeply missed by her parents, Norbert and Betty Kussow; her wonderful children: Jason Meulemans, Tori Meulemans, Jon Meulemans, and Nicole Meulemans, all at home; the father her children, Terry Meulemans; her loving siblings: Kevin Kussow, Rod (Maria) Kussow, Julie (Rob) Peterson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends; and close, dear friends: Jill, Tina, Kamie, and Jenny.
    Family and friends may visit Alleluia Lutheran Church, 6725 Elmro Road, Wrightstown, on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Aaron Hutton officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.     Andy Melzer, age 45 of Hortonville, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 4, 2015, due to complications resulting from an aneurysm. Andy was born in Neenah, on April 2, 1970, the son of Keith and Beverly (Jahnke) Melzer. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 1989, and married his loving wife and best friend on May 28, 1999. Andy was a member of the Laborers Local #330 and later became a member of Carpenters Local #955. Over his 25+ year career, he worked for CR Meyer, Immel, and Miron Construction companies.
    Andy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and was most happy when Carrie out-fished him. He always had a story to share (sometimes they were tall tales). Andy was always there to help anyone in need, and will forever be remembered as everyone's "favorite uncle Andy".
    He is survived by his wife: Carrie Melzer of Hortonville; his parents: Keith (Beverly) Melzer of Appleton; two brothers: Tim (Sheila) Melzer of New York and Jeff Melzer of Appleton; two sisters: Rebecca Pastore of Connecticut and Sarah (Eli) Lane of South Carolina; his nieces and nephews: Shannon Melzer of Ripon, Joshua and Matthew Pastore of Connecticut, and Eric Jacobs and Lindsey Loucks of New York; and his mother-in-law: Eileen Rees. Andy is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his extended family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father-in-law, and two uncles.
    A memorial service for Andy will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha. Rev. Martin Ruge, the pastor who married Andy and Carrie, will conduct the service. Following the service, friends and family are invited to remain at the funeral home for a reception which will conclude at 8:00 PM.
    Carrie and the entire family would like to offer their deepest thanks to the ICU nurses and staff members at Theda Clark who took such amazing care of Andy and helped them through this very difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
