    Marvin W. Pennings, age 79, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was born on April 8, 1931 in Freedom, WI to the late Albert and Gertrude (Diedrich) Pennings. Marv attended St. Nicholas Grade School and Freedom High School. He married Jane Heimerl on June 15, 1955 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenleaf, WI. Marv was a farmer, working on his farms in Freedom and later in Appleton. He also worked for Meyer Services and then for the Town of Grand Chute, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed making wood working items for his family, spending time with Jane and his family at their cottage in Lakewood and also the times spent there with friends trout fishing and hunting. Marv was past President of the Outagamie 4-H Leaders Association and served as a leader of the B-Square 4-H Club. He was a volunteer for the Grand Chute Fire Dept. for 10 years and was an usher at St. Pius X Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Pennings, Appleton; sons, Daniel (Mary Kay) Pennings, Sommerset and Bruce (Lori) Pennings, Appleton; daughters, Mary (Tom) Pritzl, Appleton and Julie (Bill) Novak, Clintonville; grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Dahl, Neenah, Ben (Jill) Pennings, Champlain, MN, Heather (Jon) Otto, Greenville, Travis Pennings, Emily and George Pritzl, all of Appleton and Amanda Novak, Clintonville; great-grandchildren, Annie and Lucy Pennings, MN and Makenna and Jackson Otto, Greenville; brothers, Clarence (Ruth) Pennings and Donald (Geraldine) Pennings; sisters-in-law, Betty, Phyllis and Donna Heimerl; brother-in-law, Hugh (Bonnie) Heimerl; sister-in-law, Ann (Don) Ley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Harvey, Earl and Eugene Heimerl and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Heimerl. A Mass of Christian Burial for Marv will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Family and friends may visit at Valley Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held on Sunday at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
