    Obituary:
    Edward E. Flanagan, age 88, of Bear Creek, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Ed was born on June 7, 1920, in Bear Creek, son of the late James and Helen (Huhn) Flanagan. On July 6, 1944, he married Delores Brault. She preceded him in death in 1992. Ed lived and farmed in the Bear Creek area his entire life. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of the Bear Creek School Board. Ed was an avid sportsmen; he loved to hunt and fish. In his youth he played baseball for the Appleton Foxes and the New London Merchants. Ed enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Pelican Lake and participating in the Wednesday night golf league.
    He is survived by his children: Kathleen (Bill) Klegin, New London; Michael (Nancy) Flanagan, Weyauwega; Patricia (Michael) Balke, Oshkosh; Edward (Linda) Flanagan, Mabelvale, AR; Kevin (Jane) Flanagan, Stevens Point; Maureen (Wayne) Bicknase, Tucson, AZ; Hugh (Sherri) Flanagan, Bear Creek; William (Tracy) Flanagan, Bear Creek; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul (Mary) Flanagan, Bear Creek; sister, Helen Mares, Appleton. Ed is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and also a grandson, Andrew Heling.
    The Funeral Mass for Ed will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Sister Sandy Peterson Prayer Garden at St. Mary's in Bear Creek.
    The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the wonderful care they gave to Ed.
