Obituary:
Leona A. Wohlrabe, age 93, of Fremont, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was born on December 29, 1913, in the Town of Wolf River, WI, the daughter of the late Henry and Pauline (Zander) Bartel. On January 6, 1937, Leona married Henry Wohlrabe at St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1992. Leona was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield, she cherished her religion and church life. Leona enjoyed growing and tending to her beautiful garden, baking and spending time with her family.
Leona is survived by two sons: Gerald (Carol), Neenah; Jim, Fremont; a daughter, Connie (Joe) Schindelholz, Burke, VA; 11 grandchildren: Jerry (Lori) Wohlrabe, Judy(Dean)Jenner, Joan (Dan) Wintheiser, John (Corine)Wohlrabe, Lori (Ron) Wilke, Mitzi (Eric)Omit, Jamie (Theresa) Wohlrabe, Dave (Dawn) Haertl, Dan (Jenny) Haertl, Joseph Schindelholz, Steven Schindelholz, Alicia Jenner and Alison Jenner; 22 great-grandchildren: Tara, Aaron, Joshua, Megan, Brett, Candy, Rick, Alisha, Justen, Heide, Tanya, Adam, Shanna, Aeryn, Randy, Mishca, Sarah, Rebeca, Tyler, Hannah, John and Rose; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Vernice Bartel, Neenah, and Edna Bartel, Fremont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, and six brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. Rev. Gerhard Schapekahm will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf River Cemetery in Fremont. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A Memorial fund has been established for St. John Lutheran Church.
Leona's family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Medical Center, Crystal River Nursing and Rehab Center, and Welcome Home as well as Pastor Schapekahm for all of their care and compassion during this time.
