    Obituary:
Anton "Joe" Hinkens, age 80, of Shawano passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Fox River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Appleton. Joe was born to the late Henry and Contessia (Erb) Hinkens on May 31, 1934. Joe went on to join the United States Air Force in 1954. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force base in Texas before being transferred to California where he was stationed until his honorable discharge in 1958. On June 30, 1962 Joe married Phyllis Lamine at Ishpeming, MI. On August 17, 1977 they were united again at St. Joseph Church in Appleton. Joe worked in the drywall business and together with Richard Gamroth owned and operated Fox River Dry Wall until retiring in 1996. In his free time Joe enjoyed deer hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers as well as NASCAR Racing, especially Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed his many years living on Washington Lake. Joe had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and was well liked. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back. He would always stop what he was doing to visit with people or to give someone a helping hand.
Joe is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Phyllis; two daughters, Linda (Bill) Meyer and Joliene (Mike) Meyer; a son Christopher (Marilyn) Hinkens; six grandchildren, Jaclyn (fiance Zach) Chavlovich, Madison, Reese, and Fletcher Meyer, Samuel and Lauren Hinkens; two sisters, Helen (Ralph) Maas and Delores Lindsey; two brothers Cliff Hinkens and Glen (Sue) Hinkens; a sister-in-law, Lindy Hinkens; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, John and Richard Hinkens; and one sister, MaryAnn Hermes.
A funeral mass for Joe will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from Noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Kaukauna in the spring. A memorial fund has been established, and donations will be forwarded to Alzheimer's research. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shawn Hermes for the countless hours spent visiting with his Uncle Joe.

Anton married Lamine, Phyliss (daughter of Lamine, William J. and Brice, Mabel) [Group Sheet]
