    Obituary:
IDENTIFY BODY OF MANITOWOC BOY OVERSEAS
Joseph Gosz, "Missing in Action," Killed in the Argonne
Reported "missing in action" the body of Joseph Gosz, Reedsville soldier boy who did not return with his comrades after the war, has been located, word having been sent his mother, Mrs. Christine Gosz, by the war department
saying that identification of the body of her son had been made absolute and that he was killed in the battle of the Argonne. The message was received by Mrs. Gosz last night.
Arrangements have been made for return of the remains and shipment will be made from abroad as soon as possible. The funeral will be held at Whitelaw and interment in the family lot at that place. The remains will lay in state at
Reedsville for one day in honor of the Legion post of that village, which has been named after the dead soldier, and then laid to rest with all military honor.
    ONE OF FIRST
Joseph gosz was one of the first of the Manitowoc county soldiers to go abroad and to get into action, being a member of the Two Rivers contingent, which departed early after the draft call. He fought with his division in the battles previous to the Argonne campaign and then lost his life in the latter battles.
His body was not found at the time and after reasonable length of time had elapsed the war department reported him missing in action. This was in November, 1918. The record of being classified as missing was entered as of October 15, 1918.
    MOTHER LOVE HAD HOPE
At first it was thought that Gosz had been taken prisoner and his mother clung to the hope that he would later turn up in some German prison camp as had so many other who were reported missing by the war department. With the lapse of the months following the signing of the armistice, however, this hope was dissipated and he was given up for dead. Knowing now that he was buried with military honors on the field of battle which had been bathed by his blood is great satisfaction to the family.
For months the efforts of the war department and the Red Cross were directed to locating Gosz or trying to get a record of his death or his whereabouts without
avail. In the letter received by the mother the tag number and mumber of his division and other marks correspond, leaving no doubt as to the positive identification. Mr. Gosz is a brother of Paul Gosz.
    PAY TRIBUTE TO HERO
Reedsville today is paying full military honor to Rudolph Reimer, one of her sons who made the supreme sacrifice and whose body was just been returned. A half holiday was declared in the village and it turned out en masse for the
funeral which was held under auspices of Joseph Gosz post, American Legion.

    Pocan, Delores M., Nee: Eskofski
Delores Mary Pocan, age 87, went home into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2012. She was born in Menasha on September 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Schwichtenberg) Bayer. Delores went to St. Mary School in Menasha. Helping and spending time with friends and family was a priority in Delores' life. She also loved playing cards and morning coffee clutches. Eating popcorn was a family tradition for her at any time of day. Delores was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. Her faith was extremely important to her. She was a devout Christian and Catholic who practiced her faith through prayer, attending Mass and lighting vigil lights.

Delores is preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Pocan; son, Michael Pocan; grand-daughter, Linda; brother, Robert Bayer and her sister, Jeanette Koester.
Delores' family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation for all their love, care and support for Delores.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Friends will be received for visitation at the church from 9:30am until the time of Mass.
We miss you Mom. You'll always have a special place in our hearts.

    Obituary:
Rose Ann (Voissem) (Geiger) (Bodine) Broadway, age 83 passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016. She unexpectedly passed after just being diagnosed with cancer. She was born on August 11, 1933 to the late Arthur and Marie Voissem of Menasha. She led an active and full life, being widowed 3 times. She married Robert Geiger on February 12, 1955. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1961. Rose is survived by her children: Scott (LuAnn) Geiger, Cindy (Joe) Bestor, David (Raquel) Geiger and Lori (Al) Flanders. On June 10, 1967 she married Stewart Bodine who immediately stepped into step-fatherhood with 4 young children. Stewart preceded Rose in death on December 12, 1983. She married Robert Broadway on June 13, 1987. They spent 16 years together, doubling the size of their families. Bob preceded Rose in death on December 24, 2004. Bob's children were shared and loved by Rose. Surviving her are Jeanne (John) Reynolds, Diana (Jeff) Hagman, Sue Broadway and Mike (Martha) Broadway. Rose is further survived by her grandchildren Amy Geiger, Ryan(Stephanie) Geiger and great-grandchildren Ayla and Talia; Joseph (Christina) Bestor, great grandson Elliot; Hannah(Josh) Fenske and great grandchildren Elijah, Adalie and Emeline; Maria, Rebecca and Samuel Geiger; Claudia and Ava Flanders. Rose is further survived by her step-grandchildren Adam, Casey and Karli Hagman; Bailey and Alex Reynolds; Caroline Boer; Katie, Clare and Matthew Broadway.
Rose is also survived by sisters Arlene (Roy) Stephenson and Geri (John) King and sister-in-law Carole Voissem. She is also survived by brother-in-law Gerry (Jodi) Geiger; sister-in-laws Sandi (Pat) Geiger Ryan and Paula (Jerry) Earl and many nieces and nephews. As a lifelong resident of Menasha, Rose had many close friends who were very important to her.
Rose was preceded by her brothers Richard (Whitey) Voissem (Lois), James (Jimmy) and Arthur (Billy) and sister Susie; father and mother- in-laws Joseph and Mary Geiger, brother-in-law John (Jack) Geiger (June) and sister-in-law Donna (Dick) Curtis.
After raising 4 children alone and later with Stewart, she went back to work at Marathon Engineering and then Valley Trust. She was always active and involved. She loved golfing and cross-country skiing in her earlier years. You had to be quiet during Packers games so she wouldn't miss anything. The Brewers and most sports were always a topic of conversation. Volunteering was always something she would try to help with such as Meals on Wheels and transporting World Relief refugees. She often sang at funerals and was a member of the Y-Nots (better known by her stage name of Secondhand Rose). She was a participant in many different bridge clubs. Rose enjoyed sitting in her outdoor patio watching the birds and squirrels while looking at her flower berm called Rose Garden Way. Reading, Crossword Puzzles and Words with Friends were a part of daily life and Rose was a stickler for grammatical accuracy.
Since her house was always full from her out of town children and relatives visiting the nickname for home was called the Broadway B&B. Regretfully the Broadway B&B will be officially closing. As a former co-worker and friend of Rose's told us, "Heaven and Earth will never be the same."
The funeral service for Rose will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 528 Second Street Menasha. There will be a visitation from 10:30-11:30 at the church before the service. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Wednesday, November 2 at Wichmann Funeral Home Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St Menasha.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the great care she received at both St. Elizabeth Hospital and Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, even though she was taken from us much sooner than anyone ever expected.
