    Today we mourn the passing of a great lady ñ our mother. Margaret Versteg en passed away peacefully in Michigan on Friday afternoon, September 21, 2 001 with her family at her side. She was 82 years old but lived a long, fr uitful and blessed life.Margaret was born on October 15, 1918 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, to Theod ore and Wilhelmenia (Minnie) Lamers. She was the second of six children.Margaret was educated at St. John's School and High School in Little Chut e, and the Appleton Business College in Appleton. After her marriage to Ge rald Verstegen on August 10, 1940, Margaret moved to Neenah with her new b eau, where they lived happily for the next 58 years. After her husband's d eath in 1998, Margaret moved to Michigan to be nearer to her eldest daught er, Marilyn, although Michigan was a place she never really called "home."Margaret was a longtime and devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Chur ch in Neenah. She was also a member of the Theda Clark Hospital Auxiliar y, the Menasha Club, the Tuesday Club, the YMCA of Neenah-Menasha, the Rid geway Country Club, and also a member of the W.N.E.G.A. (Women's Northeast ern Golf Association).Margaret and Gerald had four children, and Margaret's life centered on h er family. Her children provided her greatest pleasure. Mom always said h er happiest occasions were when her children, grandchildren and great-gran dchildren were born. She once said that "heaven" to her was being with h er children, so she looked forward to all family get-togethers. She was al so a good, competitive golfer and bridge player, giving that competitive s pirit to each of her children. Her morning routine of swimming 40 la ps at the "Y" or her morning walks of three to five miles hand in hand wi th her husband, were things to which she always looked forward. And, as so meone who loved to dance, her dance card at the Menasha Club was never emp ty. An avid bridge player, her children all vividly remember the many tim es when she'd come home with such happiness after she and her partner h ad made a "grand slam." Mom was also influential in running dad's real est ate business. Her business sense was good and it stuck with her. She stron gly believed in a good education, and encouraged her children to achieve t he highest education level possible. She believed "effort and persisten ce will prevail in achieving all goals." She also said "take each d ay as it comes and try to make some good and happiness in each of those da ys." These are a few of the truly memorable thoughts and events which wi ll remain with those of us who knew her, forever.Margaret is survived by her three daughters: Marilyn Keifer, Ann Arbor, Mi chigan; Deborah Verstegen, Charlottesville, Virginia; and Susan Versteg en Nolop, New York City; four grandchildren: Kathryn Silverman, Karolyn Ah ern and Michael and Nathan Nolop; three great-grandchildren: Matthew Barne s, and Emily and Zachery Ahern; and one brother, Paul Lamers, Little Chut e.     Paul Lamers 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Theda Care Hospice Residence, peacefully, with his family at his side. He was born June 6, 1922, in Little Chute, the son of the late Theodore G. and Minnie (DeBruin) Lamers. In 1942 he enlisted in the Navy and joined the WW 11 Navy Band as a trombonist. After the war he worked as a Mason with PG Miron. In 1948 he married Irene Baeten and raised three children with her. He later formed Master Masonry and Victorian Homes. His love of music continued, actively participating in the Little Chute Band for 74 years, as well as various other orchestras. He even formed his own Big Band , the Silver Threads for a few years.
    He overcame many hardships in his lifetime, including the loss of his son Teddy at age 8, his wife Irene at age 59, and his daughter Victoria at age 56. His love of music got him through. In 1992 he married his second wife, Joyce Arno.
    He is survived by his wife Joyce, her granddaughter Stacie, his daughter Paula (Russ) Gilson, granddaughter Jamie (Patrick) Gill, and two great-granddaughters Zoie and Paizley Gill, sister in laws Carol Lamers and Betty (the late Donald) Baeten., along with many nieces and nephews. He also has been blessed with many great friends.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Leo Lamers, Margaret (Jerry) Verstegan, Pearl (Florian "Chub") DeGroot, Irene (John "Toby") Elrick, Isabel (Orville)Romenesko,
    Family and friends may gather at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, on Friday, January 9, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Prayers with Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen, music, and memories, will be shared at 5:30 p.m. in celebration of his life.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial for a music scholarship is being established in Paul's name.
    The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Al Cherkasky and Dr. Whiteside, for their support and care, as well as the entire staff at Theda Care Hospice Residence, who gave him wonderful care, as well as loving attention to all involved

    Isabel (Lamers) Romenesko, "Issy" W1948 Va ndenberg Street FreedomShe was age 70, died on Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Appleton Medical Cente r. She was born on December 21, 1929, in Little Chute, the daughter of t he late Theodore G. and Minnie (De Bruin) Lamers. Issy was united in mar riage to Orville Romenesko on September 25, 1948, at St. John's Catholic C hurch in Little Chute. Issy was a secretary for 21 years at Freedom High S chool. She had many hobbies with some of her favorites being bird watchi ng, gardening, golfing, card playing, baking, and most of all, spendi ng time with her family and grandchildren. Issy is survived by her husba nd of 51 years, Orville Romenesko; her three sons, Bruce, Freedom; Ma rk (Diane), Darboy; Paul (Debbie), Appleton; four daughters, Becky (Do n) Green, Appleton; Kim Romenesko, Milwaukee; Ann (fiance, David Duquette ), Freedom; Amy (special friend, Cory Coleman), Milwaukee; 16 grandchildre n, Brian, Adam, Erin, Jonelle, Dana, Dawn, Elizabeth, Jessica, Dustin, N eil, Abby, Tony, Kayla Mae, David, Kayla Marie and Jon. The funeral liturgy will be at noon on Monday, June 19, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with t he Reverend Melvin Wierzbicki officiating. Interment will be in the pari sh cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7: 30 p.m., and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the cortege leaves for chur ch. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:30 p.m. on Su nday at the funeral home.Memorials to the American Lung Association for emphysema research wou ld be appreciated.     Lawrence T. Brockman, Black Creek, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born October 6, 1921, to the late Joseph and Minnie (Hietpas) Brockman. On September 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ethel Melcher at St. Mary's in Appleton. The couple celebrated 63 years together.
    Lawrence was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theaters in the Philippines, New Guinea and the Hawaiian Islands. He was a member of the Black Creek American Legion. He was a milk hauler, farmer and a milk inspector for many years. He served as town chairman for the Town of Black Creek and also served on the Outagamie County Board. Lawrence enjoyed life, going for rides, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and going up to his cottage.
    He is survived by his wife Ethel and their children: Ron (Betsy) Brockman, Black Creek; Dave Brockman, Black Creek; Jan (Steve) Vande Corput, Seymour; Joe (Pam) Brockman, Black Creek; Steve (Toni) Brockman, Black Creek; Nancy (Michael) Nagel, Black Creek; Karen (Ken) Coppens, Hortonville; Betty (Bob) Lehrer, Hortonville; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jerome (Marie) Brockman, Darboy; Vilas (Germaine) Brockman, Kaukauna; Maurice (Ethel) Brockman, Darboy.

    Jerome B. Brockman, of Darboy, age 88, had his prayers answered on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. He was born on June 25, 1924, in Little Chute, the son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Lamers) Brockman. On September 30, 1953, Jerome married Marie Van Mun at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. He retired from Oscar Boldt Construction. Jerome volunteered for years at the Kimberly Recreation Association. Jerome spent many hours helping make quilts for the Holy Spirit Missions. He was a Boy Scout Leader when his sons were growing up.
    Jerome is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie Brockman; daughter, Donna (Mark) Benotch; sons: Bob (Pam), Jim (Cheryl), and Dan Brockman; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Maurice (Ethel) Brockman; sisters-in-law: Ethel Brockman, Germaine Brockman, and Louise Albrecht. He is also survived by Marie's brothers: John (JoAnn), Mike (Joan), and Jim (Joan) Van Mun; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Jerome was preceded in death by his brothers: Les, Laurence, Vilas, and Gordon (Pat) Brockman; sister-in-law: Marilyn Brockman; brothers-in-law: Arnie Albrecht and Wally (Cebbie) Van Mun.
    The funeral liturgy for Jerome will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Holy Spirit/Holy Name Church, 620 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Little Chute. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of mass.     Vilas J. Brockman, age 84, of Kaukauna, formerly of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at St. Paul Villa with his family by his side. He was born on March 31, 1926, to the late Joseph and Minnie (Lamers) Brockman in Little Chute. On September 4, 1948, he married the former Germaine Brux at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. Vilas was employed at Kimberly-Clark and in 1958 the couple began farming together in the Town of Freedom. He was also a longtime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Vilas enjoyed going on trips with Germaine. He was proud of his time spent playing baseball and in his later years enjoyed golfing. Vilas was an avid card player and rarely missed playing with the Monday group.
    In addition to his wife Germaine, he is survived by six children: Dennis (Judy) Brockman, Advance; Don (Nancy) Brockman, Kaukauna; Duane (Pam) Brockman, Kaukauna; Susan (Steve) Peeters, De Pere; Marilee Cappaert, Freedom; Kevin (Jory) Brockman, Phelps. Also survived by 16 grandchildren: Kristy (Matt) Hesse, Robert (Brook) Brockman, Jodi (Darrin) Matthis, Jacki (Mike) Wegand, Joanne Brockman, Jane (Phil) VandeVoort, Jyl Brockman, and Jesse (Liz) Brockman, Katie (Rory) Hurst, Emily Brockman, Sara and Dominic Peeters, Chad Cappaert, Angela (fiance, Andy) Cappaert, Landin and Riley Brockman; and further survived by 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Jerome (Marie) Brockman, Darboy; and Maurice (Ethel) Brockman, Darboy; two sisters-in-law: Louise Allbrecht, Appleton; and Ethel Brockman, Black Creek.
    Preceding Vilas in death were three brothers: Lester, Lawrence and Gordon.

    Germaine R. Hietpas, Little Chute, age 93, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at St. Paul Home, where she has been very well taken care of for the last several years. She was born on June 7, 1923 to the late Peter and Marie (Vander Velden) Lamers. Germaine married Robert "Bob" Hietpas at St. John Church on February 5, 1946. Bob preceded her in death on January 9, 1995.
    Germaine enjoyed neighborhood gatherings on Van Buren Street when her children were young. Later, she looked forward to those sunny Sunday afternoons under a shade tree by the lake.
    Germaine is survived by her 6 children: Lynn (Dick) Strutz of Little Chute; Chera of Appleton; Tom "Chipper" (Sue) of Little Chute (who was very devoted to visiting his mother on Sunday mornings); Mark (Kim) of California; Ray (Becky) of Kaukauna; and Lee of Kimberly; grandchildren: Mark Strutz, Jill (Rob) Mesun, Lisa (Andy) Gilmore, Sara Vogels, Amy (Jeff) Kolasinski, David (Beth) Vander Velden, Troy (fiancée Erin) Krause, Trista Hietpas, Mark Hietpas Jr., Abby (Ben) Giffin and Ashley (Craig) Dillinger; and great grandchildren: Tyler, Madelyn, Sophia, Eli, Mallory, Morgan, Jackson, Mason, Savannah, Walter, Chance, Amelia, Addison, Beau, Foster and Truitt.

    Don was born on October 18, 1925 in Little Chute, WI, son of Peter and Marie Lamers. He served in the US Navy during WWII. On August 31, 1948 he married Theresa Van Nuland at Holy Name Church. They had just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. He was employed for 40 years by Kimberly Clark.
    Don is survived by his wife, Theresa; his daughter Gail (Lan) Waddell of Marshall, WI, his sons Dean (Diana) Lamers of Combined Locks and Jay (Debra) Lamers of Kimberly; grandchildren Sarah, Ben, Drew, Tina, Jamie, Rob, David, and Ashlee; great-grandchildren Trent, Nora and Miles; sister Germaine Hieptas and many nieces and nephews.     Armella C. Gerondale, 77, Green Bay, died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at her home, after a short illness. Armella was born on Nov. 8, 1931, in Little Chute to the late Jake and Anne (VanOudenhoven) Lamers. Armella loved spending winter months in Arizona and traveling. She enjoyed playing cards and quilting with Senior Citizens groups. She also enjoyed her time spent with family, friends and playing bingo with her grandchildren.
    Survivors include her children: Fred (Kathy) Gerondale, Green Bay; Cindy (Michael) Steeno, Green Bay; Connie (Philip) Bruner, Green Bay; Tom (Debbie) Gerondale, New Franken; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.     Gladys S. 79, and Leo P. Gerrits, 89 of Appleton completed their journeys to their Heavenly home. Gladys on Thursday May 3, 2012; and Leo on Sunday May 6, 2012 at Brewster Village, with family by their sides. She was born in Appleton, July 1, 1932, daughter of the late Henry and Theresa (McDaniel) Lamers. He was born in Wrightstown on November 16, 1922, son of the late Antone and Ann (Bushman) Gerrits. Gladys and Leo were united in marriage on May 5, 1959 and were blessed with 53 years together.
    Gladys spent her years raising her five children, and had a great love and talent for arts and crafts. She also had a great love for music. Gladys will be remembered for her selflessness, always putting her loved ones needs before her own.
    Leo served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He was employed for 40 years as a laborer for International Associates Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed playing pool and horseshoes. Leo will be remembered for his dedication to his family, and his love of animals.
    Gladys and Leo were long time members of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton. They will both be deeply missed by their family and many loving friends.
    Gladys and Leo are survived by their five children, Ronald (Debbie), Appleton, Sandra (Michael) Bodwin, Sturtevant, Diane (Pat) Nimtz, Hartford, Dennis (Abby), Chicago, IL, and Karen Liethen (Brett Jacobs), Appleton; six grandchildren, Kayla Duffy, Kevin Duffy, Michael Green, Jordan Green, Haleigh Green, and Samantha Bodwin; Gladys' sister, Carol (Bob)Dorsey; and her loving friend, Judy Kaddatz.
    A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys and Leo will be 11:00AM on Friday May 11, 2012 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine St, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday evening May 10, 2012, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM.     Evelyn Vandenberg, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, October 5, 2015. Evelyn was born in Appleton on June 5, 1929, daughter of the late Anton and Susan (Lamers) Van Lieshout. She attended Appleton High School, and married Giles Vandenberg on May 21, 1949. For a short time, she worked in Social Services at the Outagamie Court House, but most of her working years were spent as a clerk at J.C. Penney Company in downtown Appleton. She was an excellent seamstress, and over the years enjoyed the company of many pet cats.
    She is survived by her loving husband: Giles Vandenberg of Appleton; two children: Gary (LuAnn) Vandenberg of Darboy and Carla (Sidney) Nennig of New Holstein; six grandchildren: Amy Vandenberg, Justin (Lyndsey) Vandenberg, Krista (Jarred) Spindler, Michael Nennig, Laura Nennig, and Heather Nennig; a great-granddaughter: Brielle Vandenberg; a brother: Ken (Rosemary) Van Leishout of Amherst Junction; and two sisters-in-law: Ione (Harvey) Minten of Florida and JoAnn Schroeder of Appleton. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law Pauline (Stanley) Joosten and June Vandenberg; and brothers-in-law: Ervin (Virginia) Vandenberg, Kenny Vandenberg, and Norbert Schroeder.

    Lamers, Victoria LeeVictoria Lee Lamers, age 56, of Little Chute, died peacefully Wednesday, J uly 27, 2005, after a long courageous battle with cancer with her family a nd friends at her side. She was born November 17, 1948 in Kaukauna, daught er of Paul and Irene (Baeten) Lamers. Victoria was a 1966 graduate of S t. John High School, Little Chute and a 1969 graduate of the Universi ty of Wisconsin, Oshkosh as a speech therapist. She taught in Door Coun ty for 2 years and also in Southern California for 28 years. She helped ma ny deaf and severely handicapped children speak during her career. Her li fe had meaning. The world was a better place because of her endless givin g, love and dedication. She will be dearly missed by her family and many f riends.Victoria is survived by her father and step mother, Paul and Joyce Lamer s, Little Chute; her sister, Paula (Russell) Gilson, Appleton; her niec e, Jamie (Patrick) Gill, Appleton; aunts and uncles: Orville Romenesko, Fr eedom; Carol Lamers, Little Chute; Dorothy Vosters, Appleton; Donald (Bett y) Baeten, De Pere.She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Lamers in 1990 and her brot her, Teddy in 1959.Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2005, at St. J ohn Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute with Rev.     De Groot, Thomas Roger “Tom my De”Thomas Roger Groot, age 52, of Little Chute passed away peacefully, Frida y, March 5, 2004, at Colony Oaks Care Center with his family by his sid e. Tom was born July 26, 1951 to the late Florian “Chub” and Pearl (Lamer s) De Groot. He lived in Little Chute most of his young adult life and lov ed riding his bike all over town, visiting with everyone he met. He will a lso be remembered playing his guitar and singing his favorite Elvis song s. He graduated from Robert Plamann School in 1972. In his later yea rs he joined a group of other special needs boys in an Appleton home und er the loving and compassionate care of Michael Loppnow, who would beco me one of Tom’s truest and best friends and a trusted part of his whole fa mily. Tom was employed at Valley Packaging where he also had many friends.Tom was special to everyone who knew him. He had genuine love for each a nd every person he ever met.     Diane Lynn Nimtz, 52. With her two dogs at her side, Diane Lynn Nimtz (nee Gerrits) was born into eternal life on the morning of Thursday, April 23, 2015.
    Born in Appleton, Wisconsin on May 4, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Lamers) and Leo Gerrits, whom she now is reunited with.
    Diane is survived by her husband Patrick Nimtz of Hartford; daughter, Kayla Duffy of Milwaukee; son, Kevin Duffy (Karleissa Rogacheski) of Milwaukee; siblings Ronald (Debbie) Gerrits of Appleton; Sandra (Michael) Bodwin of Sturtevant; Dennis (Abby) Gerrits of Chicago; and Karen Liethen (Brett Jacobs) of Appleton; aunt, Carol (Bob) Dorsey; countless friends who have been touched by her life; and of course, her two dogs, Roscoe and Chena.
    Diane spent her years working as a nurse, where she dedicated herself to the needs and comforts of her patients. Coworkers will remember her for her hardworking spirit and sweet nature. Diane will always be remembered as a loving woman who was in every sense of the word, a nurturer-from her profession to the love and dedication she showed towards her husband and two children, and the kindness she showed to the pet rabbits, birds, cats, and dogs who have come and gone throughout her life. While Diane's love for her family and "fur babies" will never be forgotten, she will also be remembered for her passion with interior design and her love of nature through camping, biking, sitting outside to watch thunderstorms roll in, and of course, being an avid gardener who greeted springtime with excitement as she planned out what she would be planting that season. Diane lived with Diabetes for fifty years. While Diane's life was cut tragically short, she will continue to live on through her children and her loved ones, whose memories of Diane have now become the most sacred of treasures.
    Visitation for Diane will be from 1 -3 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St, Hartford, WI with a Catholic prayer service at 3 p.m., officiated by Fr. David of St. Kilian Parish.

    Marty J. Vanden Wyngaard, Kaukauna, age 40, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 following a short battle with lung cancer. He was born June 2, 1972, son of June Vanden Wyngaard. Marty was disabled but had worked at Valley Packaging, Kaukauna Coffee House and Walmart. He also worked side jobs cutting lawn and helping his brother, Dan work on houses. Marty was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. He could always be seen riding his bike all over town.
    Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie (Herb) Loose and their children, Amanda, Jordan, Janelle, and Joselyn; a brother, Danny Vanden Wyngaard, all of Kaukauna; his godfather, Marty Lamers, Tippler, WI; his godmother, Marlene (Hank) Vanenken Voort, Kaukauna; and numerous cousins. Marty is further survived by his best buddy "Cinnamon".
    He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin and Odelia (Vande Hey) Lamers.
    Funeral Services for Marty will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
