Patricia "Pat" F. Kirchhoff of Oshkosh died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at home, following a courageous battle with colon and liver cancer. She was born August l6, 1939, to August and Hedwig (Dombrowski) Smith in Neenah, Wisconsin. She attended Menasha High School where she participated in swimming and band and graduated in June of 1957. She married Gary L Kirchhoff in Appleton, Wisconsin on October 5, 1957. They had just celebrated their Golden Anniversary in October with a party for family.
Pat worked the majority of her adult life as a manager of various restaurants and hotels and later as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed being with people of all ages, but especially the children. Her interaction and caring was returned by those who knew her. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and has made everything from afghans to sweaters for family members and friends. She also liked to spend as much time as possible with her children and their families and had just returned from a trip to her daughter's home in Colorado. The occasional trip to the casino to play the slots was also a fun diversion for her. She had a quick wit and enjoyed kidding her friends and family, doing whatever it took to make people laugh and did so to the end.
Pat was Lutheran by faith, and attended services at Peace Lutheran Church in Neenah, Wisconsin.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; three children, Kim (Tom) Vanderleun of Grass Valley, CA, Kari (Dan) Roberts of Colorado Springs. CO, and Richard (Tamara) Kirchhoff of Temecula, CA; five grandchildren, Caryn Silva, Eric and Seth Roberts, and Amanda and Mark Kirchhoff. Pat is also survived by her sister, Virginia Berrens of Oshkosh, sister-in-law Shirley Burr of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald and daughter Karen Lynn.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, (west side) from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Daly, Dr. Dar, the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Aurora Medical Center, and the team of the Visiting Nurses Association, specifically Sandy Fontecchio, Pat's hospice nurse for their concern, and excellent care the past eight months.
