    Obituary:
Robert Paul Arndt, age 93, 0f Neenah, joined his wife in heaven on Friday, May 5, 2017. He was born in Fremont, WI, on January 20, 1924, son of the late Walter and Helena (Schiessor) Arndt.
Bob left school at the 8th grade to help on the farm. He married Phyllis Collier on September 18, 1948, in Neenah. Bob worked a myriad of jobs in the Valley: Marathon, Courtney & Plummer, Victrylite and the Neenah Foundry.
He believed in education and self-improvement; and took a number of mail order classes to raise his ability to provide for his family. Guided by his strong faith, Bob and Phyllis raised their six children. He learned patience and compassion as he cared for Phyllis through her 12 year struggle with dementia. Bob always said he looked for something to smile about every day and if he could make someone smile, then it was a good day.
Bob loved family time spent at the cottage on Archibald Lake and outdoor activities with his sons. He loved music and singing with the "Y Nots" singing group; an activity he missed greatly as his strength deteriorated. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Faith was very important to him and he read the Bible daily. He always had a smile and a greeting of "Have a great day today and a better one tomorrow."
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and in-law; his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; daughter, Carrie; son, Marlyn; and grandson, Brian. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers: Gerhardt (Lorraine), Frank; two sisters: Esther (Tom) Hoyman, Leona (Maynard) Strohschein.
Bob is survived by his sons: Wally (Susan), Mountain Home, AR, Arno (Amy), Neenah; and daughters: Lana (Dan) Steinike, Loretta (Darryl) Schmidt, Oshkosh. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Jason, Casey, Carrie, Jonathon, Lacey, Derek, Todd, Eric, Jay, Jesse, Joe, Wendy, Lightning, Lance and Holly; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah, with Rev. Paul L. Holte officiating. The visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Valley VNA, 1537 Lyon Dr., Neenah OR St. Paul Lutheran Church.
