Obituary:
Surrounded by her family, Vicki Lynn Smith, age 69, Freedom, passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 14, 2017 at Bellin Hospital, due to unexpected complications that arose after an emergency abdominal surgery. Vicki was born March 29, 1948, the daughter of Howard and LaVerne (Piering)Lutter.
Vicki was a 1965 graduate of Rhinelander High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
On June 22, 1977, Vicki married Richard "Dick" Smith. More than anything, Vicki enjoyed the time that she spent with her children and grandchildren. She also cherished spending time at the cabin in Rhinelander listening to the loons, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, gardening, and reading on the swing by Lake Julia. In March of 2017, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of traveling to Hawaii with her children and grandchildren.
Vicki is survived by her four children, and six grandchildren: Kristy (Chad) Carter, Green Bay, (Kaeley and Kynsie); and Kevin (Jill) Smith, Rhinelander (Dylan and fiancé Rae Lynn, and McKayla); step-children, Randall Smith, New York City; Sheril (Brian) Janssen, Green Bay (Samantha Boettcher and Lauren Janssen); her brothers and sisters, Jeff (Laurie) Lutter, Cindy Steffens, Bruce (Peggy) Lutter, and Kurt Lutter; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Peot, Gary (Dianne) Smith; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and dear friends.
Vicki was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and brothers-in-law, Elmer Steffens and Ed Peot.
