    Dennis Van Den Berg, age 75, died, Sunday, August 14, 2016 after a short bout with cancer. He was born on December 15, 1940 in Kewaunee to the late Peter C. and Elizabeth (Stoveken) Van Den Berg.
    He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1960. He then worked at different Kewaunee industries, at Hamilton Manufacturing and for twenty-six years as the maintenance manager of the Kewaunee County Court House, retiring in 2000.
    Dennis was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish, a member of the Kewaunee Hunting and Fishing Club and a long time fish boiler for famous trout boils, a lifetime member of the Kewaunee Trap Club, member of Ducks Unlimited, charter member of Algoma - Kewaunee Great Lakes Sport Fisherman, served on the Wisconsin Conservation Congress in the 1980's and 1990's. He instigated the Great Lakes Trout Stamp. He also liked to pick mushrooms and asparagus. He instigated the A.T.V. trails for Kewaunee County when he was employed with the county. He was instrumental in establishing a memorial monument for all veterans killed in action since WW I.
    Survivors include eight brothers and sisters: Teresa Derenne, Green Bay; Rose Duescher, Kewaunee; Rita Van Den Berg, Kewaunee; Angela Paul, MN; Jerome Van Den Berg, Kaukauna; Mercedes Van Den Berg, San Francisco, CA; Helen (Bob) De Grave, Green Bay; James (Patricia) Van Den Berg, Madison.
    He was preceded in death by brothers, Loren and Allen (Betty), brothers-in-law, Richard Duescher; Lloyd Paul and Clem Derenne.
    Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16 at Buchanan Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis St., Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Visitation continues on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Holy Rosary Church, 521 Juneau St. Kewaunee with Fr. Peter Stryker officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
