    Obituary:
    Walter J. "Wally" Horkman, 88, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1928, in Humboldt to the late Frank and Angeline (Lathauer) Horkman, the last survivor of eleven siblings. Wally enlisted with the Navy in 1947. During his time in the Navy, Wally served in the Korean War. Wally was married to the love of his life and fishing partner, Marcella Horkman, on June 14, 1952, at Holy Martyr Catholic Church. Wally was employed with Procter and Gamble for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the VFW Post 9677 in Bellevue. Wally enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Wabeno, fishing, hunting, caring for his garden and apple trees, feeding his birds and squirrels, listening to polka music, and trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Wyoming. Wally's family was very important to him and he cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
    Wally will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Marcella (Smits) Horkman; children, Linda (Wayne) Serrahn, Susan Dorak, Rick (April Buhr) Horkman, Todd (Kristy) Horkman; nine grandchildren, Brian Serrahn, Kari (Dave) Neckuty, Brett (Sheena) Dorak, Taylor Dorak, Dillon Horkman, Rachael Horkman, Corey Horkman, Kyle Horkman, and Katie Horkman; five great grandchildren, Aiden and Elaina Serrahn, Lexie and Trenton Neckuty, and Una Dorak; three sisters-in-law, Joan Horkman, Gloria Horkman, and Pat Smits; and many other family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Wally is preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur (Emma) Horkman, Henry (Marge) Horkman, Elmer (Loretta) Horkman, Bernard Horkman, Donald Horkman, Marvin Horkman, and Wilbert Horkman; three sisters, Mabel Horkman, Mayme (Joseph) Pieschek, Ella (Henry) Thyes; and two brothers-in-law, Donald (Jean) Smits, and Robert Smits.
    Visitation will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Dr., from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.     Wally's family would like to give a special thank you to his neighbors, Dan and Pam Vander Loop and Sherry and Tim DeChamps. They would also like to thank Dr. Ai, Dr. Villwock, and the staff of Unity Hospice for taking such great care of Wally.
