Biography:
Bill was born in Black Creek, Outagamie, Wisconsin. His mother, Anna Christine died when he was young and his dad re-married, Ida Wolf. Bill pronounced his last name Michaelsmith.
I was told by Adelia (Peters) Melchert, (the wife of Bills' cousin) that Bill went to Montana as he didn't like his dad getting married again.
Bill settled in the Judith Gap, Montana area and worked on various ranches, including the C.R.STONE ranch for several years.
In 1917 he was a wholesale Grocer in Fergus County. He married Willis Minleschmidt in 1919
When Bill and Birdie were first married they went to Wisconsin to meet the family and there was a big party for them. (Adelia told me that)
Bill worked for the Railroad at that time.
