Rosemary (Mrs. Stanley) Krueger, 83, Big Falls, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2008, at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. The former Rosemary Fahrenkrug was born March 29, 1925, in Nichols, Wis., daughter of the late Oscar and Emma Fahrenkrug. Her early to mid teens were spent in food service at the University of Wisconsin Extension in Appleton. She married Earl Edward Malueg in 1947 and bore two children, Douglas Earl and Lucinda Lou (Cindy) Rademacher. After selling her tavern in Marion, she married Blaine A. "Bud" Miller and gained another daughter, Laverne (Miller) Betow. Rosemary owned and operated the old Riverside Tavern, next to the Marion Pond, from 1954 to 1960. Between the years of 1966 and 1970, she worked at Koepke's Bar and the Marion Bowling Alley, earning the nickname "Sugar Bear". On Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1970, she married Stanley "Bucky" Krueger and they lived in Big Falls for many years where Rosemary kept herself busy creating beautiful flower gardens around her home. After her husband's death, she moved to her daughter's home in Iola, and then finished out her life at the Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Waupaca. The staff became a second family to her and lovingly cared for her as one of their own.
Rosemary enjoyed being a den mother for the Cub Scouts when her son was younger. Her other interests included snowmobiling, archery competition, hunting, fishing and in her later years gardening, reading and working on puzzles were her passion. She was a member of The United Methodist Church in Marion, for several years prior to marrying Bucky Krueger and then joined St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Falls.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Kay Miller, Paducah, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Hank Rademacher, Iola, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Laverne (Miller) Betow and husband, Kurt, Menasha; two grandchildren, Keith (Meann) Miller, Sacramento, Calif.; and Laura (Steve) Frederiksen, Stevens Point, Wis.; four step-grandchildren, Todd (Terese) Rademacher, Goose Creek, S.C.; Tammy (Rademacher) Wellman, Summerville, S.C.; Kory and Kelly; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Caleb Frederiksen, Ashley Spulak and Skylar Wellman; along with nephews and nieces.
