    Corporal Ralph Doering states that he is in Anzio in Italy and as safe as he was in Kaukauna. He says the war has moved north and now is having a private battle with the mice trying to live in his foxhole.

    Mr. and Mrs. Otto Doering, Sixth Street, received the package Monday from their son, Cpl. Ralph Doering, who is stationed in Germany. Package consisted of a wooden box containing a Nazi officer's dress hat. Its condition is very good and apparently its owner had little opportunity to use it. Included with the hat was a large red armband with the black and red swastika insignia and a black and silver iron cross inscribed with the dates 1813 and 1939. Cpl. Doering has been overseas for two years and participated in the African, Italian and southern France campaigns before moving to Germany where he is an anti-aircraft gunner. He has been in service since November, 1942. He wears five battle stars on his service ribbons and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received.

    Obituary:
    Ronald J. Doering, age 66, of White Lake and formerly of Kaukauna, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. He was born on August 19, 1946, in Appleton to the late Ralph and Margaret (Kraft) Doering. Ron was united in marriage to Nancy Brautigam on September 4, 1971, and they spent 41 years together. He graduated from Kaukauna High School, Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Madison, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.
    Ron worked for numerous companies and ended with the Department of Defense in Milwaukee. He greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, amateur "ham" radio, and restoring old radios. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends. He could talk to anyone and often did. He was involved in the American Legion Riders, Patriot Guard, and Rolling Thunder.
    Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy; sons, Michael (Shelly) Doering and Steven (Amy) Doering; grandchildren, Alexa, Hailey, Carlee, Bryce, Lance, Natalie, and Gabriel; siblings, Carol Stepanski, Richard (Lyn) Doering, Dennis Doering, Leon (Mary) Doering, Diane (Cyril) Schmidt, Nancy (Charles) Weyenberg, Cathy (Kevin) Kavanaugh, Susan (Mark) Vander Heiden, Linda (Kevin) Wirth, Jane (Terry) Waters, and Jean (Steve) Leick. He is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Brautigam, Thomas Brautigam, Mary (Louis) Thein, Susan Brautigam, Ruth (John) Van Meter, Carol (Clifford) Keating, Michael (Kathy) Brautigam, Steve (Marsha) Brautigam; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, many godchildren, all his ham radio buddies, and many friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Margaret Doering; brothers-in-law, James Stepanski and Robert Brautigam; and sister-in-law, Beverly Brautigam.
    A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the WICHMANN TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha, with Pastor Buchanon officiating. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In Ron's memory, a memorial fund has been established.

    Kaukauna - Nancy A. Weyenberg, age 62, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018, after a strong and courageous battle against a brief illness. She was born on May 17, 1955, daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (Kraft) Doering. Nancy married Charles Weyenberg on November 9, 1976. Together they celebrated 40+ wonderful years of marriage. Nancy was always laughing and smiling. She loved spending time with and spoiling her granddaughter. Nancy loved cheering on her Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed her sweets, a good thunderstorm, and shopping for deals at "Walmarket", the dollar stores and rummage sales. Nancy adored her husband, children, grandchild and siblings. They were her pride and joy. She loved them and they loved her. She enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.
    Nancy will be missed by her husband, Charles, two sons: Brian (Amy) Weyenberg of Wrightstown and Robert Weyenberg of Kaukauna and one granddaughter Aleah. Nancy will also be missed by her eleven brothers and sisters: Carol (the late Jim) Stepanski, the late Ron Doering (Nancy), Richard (Linda) Doering, Dennis Doering, Leon (Mary) Doering, Diane (Cy) Schmidt, Cathy (Kevin) Kavanaugh, Susan (Mark) Vander Heiden, Linda (Kevin) Wirth, Jane (Terry) Waters, and Jean (Steve) Leick. Six brothers and sisters-in-law; Richard (Louise) Weyenberg, Carol (Greg) Coenen, Janice (the late Eugene) Minten, Raymond (Janice) Weyenberg, Dorothy (the late Daniel) Lamers, and the late James Weyenberg (Beverly). She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
    Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Margaret Doering; parents-in-law John and Anna Weyenberg, brother Ron Doering, brothers-in-law: Jim Stepanski, Eugene Minten, Daniel Lamers, and James Weyenberg.
    A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna with Deacon Steve Vande Hey officiating.
