Bergs, Frances E., KimberlyAge 79, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at her home. S he was born on September 25, 1923 in Kaukauna the daughter of the late Mic hael and Lena (Green) Courtney, the youngest of seven children. She gradua ted from Kaukauna High School, Mercy School of Nursing, and Xavier Colle ge in Chicago graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. S he also attended Marquette School of Nursing majoring in public health. S he married V. W. Bergs, DDS in Milwaukee in 1959 and he passed away in 198 8. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly where she w as a Eucharistic Minister, the Third Order of St. Francis in Menasha, volu nteered in respite care and with the homebound for the Visiting Nurse Asso ciation. Many people knew her for her charitable good works especially vis iting the sick.She is survived by two sisters and one brother: Lucille Kelley of Savanna h, Georgia, Robert Courtney and Eileen Biersteker both of Kaukauna; a daug hter-in-law Edie Bergs of Milwaukee; and her children John Bergs of Milwau kee, Julie (Jay) Goska of Wisconsin Rapids, and Elizabeth Bergs of New Jer sey, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parent s, her husband, her brother and sister-in-law John (Ann) Courtney, her bro ther Melvin Courtney, a sister Margaret Courtney, two brothers-in-law Ne il Biersteker and Francis Kelley, and a sister-in-law Ethel Courtney.A memorial mass will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 4 p.m. at H oly Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Kimberly with the Rev. David Schmi dt officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Appleto n. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the ti me of the mass.
