    A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Charles William Evers at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at St. James Catholic Church. Father Charles Borho will officiate.
    Private interment is planned in the St. James Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
    The son of William and Catherine Hermens Evers, he was born on the family farm in Dayton on Aug. 12, 1923. He attended St. James Catholic School in McMinnville.
    He started working on the family farm after school and raised turkeys for many years. He was one of the originators of the Turkey Rama celebration in McMinnville.
    Mr. Evers married Ann Ellen Cantlon on June 7, 1945, at St. James Catholic Church. In addition to the church, he was a member of the Turkey Growers Association, serving on its board of directors, and was long active in Boy Scout leadership.
    He enjoyed fishing and spending his winters in Tucson, Ariz. He traveled extensively throughout the world.
    His family spoke of him as a great father and wonderful grandfather who took in other family members to work on the farm.
    Mr. Evers is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters, Claudia Evers, Oregon City, and Mary Anne Fernandez, Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Gerald Evers, Dayton and Lawrence Evers, Portland; a brother, Raymond Evers, Eugene; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
    Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Catholic Church, care of Macy & Son Funeral Directors.
