Dunks, Eli P.
Eli P. Dunks, 77 years old, a longtime resident of the village of Howar d, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, following a long battle with cancer. He w as born Jan. 7, 1927, in Green Bay to the late William and Lena (Tilque) D unks. On July 31, 1948, Eli was united in marriage to Amelia Kaminski at A ssumption B. V. M. Catholic Church in Pulaski. Together they enjoyed the l ast 56 years at each other's side. Eli worked as a farmer for more th an 26 years, first on the family farm and later on his own farm. In additi on to farming, Eli was employed at Red Owl Trucking in Ashwaubenon as a me chanic for 34 years. Some of his favorite times were when he was able to e scape the city to his cottage up north. Here he enjoyed fishing, gardeni ng and gambling as well as just spending time with the family and frien ds that would come to visit. Eli has been a member of St. John the Bapti st Parish in Howard for over 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia; his four children, Mary Jane Dunks, Ho ward; Edward and Carol Dunks, Oconto; Donald Dunks, Amberg; Ronald Dunk s, Laona; his grandchildren, Nickolas and his wife, Kim, Rebecca, Chad, Mi sty Dawn, Kelly Jo, Tanya, Jennifer and her husband Matthew, Dale, Jill An n, and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Haley; a brother and si ster-in-law, Roger and Sharon, Luxemburg; a sister-in-law and brother-in-l aw, Dot and Bill Grispee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Rose Ann and Arnol d; a sister, Beatrice Dunks Van Laanen; and a brother, Earl Dunks.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. from 4 to 8 p. m. Monday (Today). There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Friends m ay also call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on the corner of Glen dale Ave. and Cardinal Lane in the Village of Howard from 12 to 1 p. m. on Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at t he church with Rev. Gregory Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riversi de Cemetery, Little Suamico.
