    Mrs. William Melcher, 61, a resident of Menasha for 36 years, died Thursday evening at her home, 30 Main-st, Menasha, after a three weeks' illness. She was formerly Ann Geldenich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Geldenich, Freedom. Survivors are her husband; one son, Clyde; two daughters, Laura and Effie, Menasha; three brothers, Frank and Peter, Marshfield; William, DePere; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Appleton and Mrs. Henry Wilpolt, Jr., Kaukauna; Mrs,. Henry Wilpolt, Sr., Menasha; and Mrs. J. E. Hughes, Appleton. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning from St. Mary church, Menasha, and burial will take place in St. Mary cemetery, Menasha.

    Menasha - Funeral services for Mrs. William Melcher, 61, 30 Main st, who died Thursday evening, will be held at St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock Monday morning. The Rev. John Hummel will officiate and interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body was removed to the residence from the Laemmrich funeral home Saturday afternoon.

All I have is the family story that Mary went to help out with the kids after Elizabeth died and ended up marrying Charles Appleton. They were my mother's god-parents, and I have a bible that she received from them signed on the front flap Uncle Charlie and Aunt Mary Appleton. I haven't had time to research that information farther. Unfortunately my mother passed away before I really got started with my serious research so I wasn't able to get more information from her.

    Chili-(special)-James Geldernick, 43, who had lived on his farm in the Town of Fremont for the past 20 years, died at 6:40 o'clock Monday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been taken about two weeks ago.
    Death was caused by complications resulting from a kidney ailment, following an illness commencing Jan. 28.
    The body will lie in state at the Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, until Wednesday afternoon when it will be taken to the home of Mr. Geldernick, route 1, Chili. Rosary services will be conducted both Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
    The requiem high mass will be read Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Chili. The Rev. Arthur J Cramer will officiate at the services, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
    Mr. Geldernick, son of Frank and Elizabeth (Coffy) Geldernick, was born in Freedom, Outagamie County, Aug. 31, 1896. His mother died when he was a small child, and he was cared for at the Green Bay Orphanage until he was 14 years old, when he came to Chili to live with his father. Since that time he had resided in the vicinity of Chili.
    His marriage to Miss Gertrude Croll took place at St. Stephen's Church in Chili Feb. 29, 1916, with the Rev. Anthony Mueller officiating at the nuptials.
    He is survived by his wife and 11 children, Miss Eliabeth Geldernick, Hinsdale, IL; Francis Geldernick, Elgin, IL; and William Geldernick, Howard and Harold Geldernick, twins; Lorraine Geldernick, Pauline and James Geldernick, twins; Richard and William Geldernick, twins; and Robert Geldernik, all at home.
    He was preceded in death by his mother and an only brother.

    Menasha - An illness of several months resulted in the death Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock of Miss Effie Melcher. She died at the home of her father, William Melcher, 30 Main street. She was born al Champaign, Mich., and came to Menasha with her parents when a child. Miss Melcher graduated from Menasha High school with the class of 1911. She was a member of the American Legion auxiliary, of St. Patrick's church choir, and the Sanctuary society of St. Patrick's church. Survivors include her father and one brother, Clyde of Menasha. The f uncial will be held Tuesday morning at 830 o'clock from the home and at 9 o'clock from St. Patrick's church, the Rev. William P. Mortell officiating. Burial will be at St Mary's cemetery.

    Chester J . Appleton Rt. 2. Kaukauna Age 64, passed away unexpect- edly at the Darboy Club at 7:15 Thursday evening. He was born July 17, 1905 in the Town of Kaukauna and he was a life resident of the town. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, town of Freedom. Sur- vivors are two daughters, Betty at home, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Setliff, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Four sons, Thomas, Daniel, Clark, and Charles, all of Kaukauna; one brother, William, Kaukauna, and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, the Rev. Alfred Hietpas officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.     Marguerite "Mugs" Hughes age 96, went to God on Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was born to the late John E. and Susan (Geldenich) Hughes on March 5, 1921 in Appleton and resided in her family home all her life. Mugs was a happy person and was always there when she was needed. She did lots of works of mercy. Mugs loved to dance, especially the polka and any other good danceable music. She also had a gorgeous singing voice and sang in her church choirs for over 70 years and then Resurrection choirs throughout the Valley. Mugs also sang in the Chaminade Chorus for over 60 years.
    Mugs worked downtown all her working days putting in over 40 years at the First National Bank (now Chase) and enjoyed all the employees and customers, and made lots of friends. She loved sports, especially football, and LOVED her Cowboys (My Cowboys).
    Mugs was always smiling and was often recognized by that smile and was a happy person. She enjoyed 31 years of retirement.
    A Funeral Service for Mugs will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at SAINT MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 S State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary officiating. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Saint Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Freedom.
    As Mugs would always say: "See you round, like an orange!"

    Ralph H. Wilpolt A former resident of Kaukauna, age 72, died Monday, August 20, 1984 in S un City, Arizona. His parents were the late Henry and Dora Wilpolt. He gra duated from Kaukauna High School and Lawrence University. He received h is Masters Degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois whe re he majored in Geology. He was a professor of Geology at the New Mexi co School of Mines, New Mexico. Later he was employed with the U.S. Geolog ical Survey and was Chief Geologist in the Southwest for the Atomin Energ ey Commision. His Various positions took him to many parts of the worl d. He was also a member of the American Geological Society. In 1956 he ret urned to Kaukauna where he was chosen as the Rally Master for the Kaukau na High School Alumni Association Annual reunion. After retiring he serv ed as a consultant working for the Department of Energy with the U.S. Atom ic Agency in Vienna, Austria. Survivors include his wife, Augusta, Sun Cit y, Arizona; three sons: David, James and Robert of the Denver, Colorado ar ea; seven grandchildren; and two sisters: Mrs. Norbert F. (Adele) Noie, Ka ukauna; Mrs. K.H. (Dorothy) Tuchscherer, Ephraim.

She was born Nov ember 24, 1915 in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Henry and Dora (Geldernick) Wilpolt. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1933. Adele married Norbert Noie on October 24, 1935 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Kaukauna Community Hospital Auxilary. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norbert; two sons Tom and Geraldine Noie of Buffalo Grove, IL and Scott and Jill Noie of Oak Creek WI,and a daughter Nancy of Chicago, IL. eight grandchildren Tom (Jennifer), Christopher (Jennifer), Jennifer, Amy, Patrick, Eric , Brian and Sean Noie; a great grandchild Tyler Noie and a sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Konrad Tuchscherer of Sister Bay, WI.     Obituary:
    Willard H. "Tuffy" Geldernick, 79, Chili, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield.
    A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield with the Rev. Donald Meuret officiating. Burial will take place in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Chili and grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
    The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rembs Funeral Home and Friday at Our Lady of Peace Church from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
    Mr. Geldernick was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Chili, the son of James and Gertrude (Croell) Geldernick. He and Darleen D. Curtin were married May 21, 1949, in Hewitt. She died Oct. 15, 2005.
    Tuffy took over the family farm in the town of Fremont where he worked hard and raised seven children. Not only was he a farmer, he also was co-owner/operator of a milk hauling business and later Central Septic Service.
    For many years, he was a member of the Chili Lions Club. He was an avid bowler, ballplayer, card player and gardener. Tuffy enjoyed sharing the fruits and vegetables of his labor with family and friends. He loved watching his children and grandchildren competing in football, baseball, softball and wrestling. As a fan, he also enjoyed sports, watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers regularly.
    He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be forever be in our hearts.
    He is survived by four sons and three daughters, Richard (Karolyn) Geldernick of Chili, Gerald (Shirley) Geldernick of Marshfield, Daniel (Susan) Geldernick of Chili, Timothy (Kathy) Geldernick of Chili, Jeannie (Michael) Bell of Marshfield, Terry (Leroy) Bowe of Greenwood and Shirley (Jim) Schmitt of Chili. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers and a sister, Robert (Sharon) Geldernick of Marshfield, James Geldernick of East Dundee, Ill., and Pauline (Herb) Weber of Downers Grove, Ill.
    He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Karen Kay Geldernick; twin granddaughters, Renee and Lisa Geldernick; five brothers and two sisters.
    In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial in Willard's name at a later date

    Willard H. "Tuffy" Geldernick. 79. Chili, died on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at St. Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Donald Meuret officiated. Burial was in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Chili. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.
    Willard H. Geldernick was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in Chili, to James and Gertrude (nee Croell) Geldnick. He married Darleen D. Curtin on May 21, 1939, in Hewett. She died on Oct. 15, 2005. He took over the family farm in the town of Freemont where he worked hard and raised seven children. Not only was he a farmer, he also was co-owner/operator of a milk hauling business and later Central Septic Service. For many tears he was a member of the Chili Lions Club. He was an avid bowler, ballplayer, card player and gardener. He enjoyed sharing the fruits and vegetables of his labor with family and friends. He loved watching his children and grandchildren competing in football, baseball, softball and wrestling. As a fan, he also enjoyed sports, watching the Packers Brewers and Badgers regularly. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be forever in our hearts.
    Survivors include four sons, Richard (Karolyn) Geldernick, Chili, Gerald (Shirley) Geldernick, Marshfield, Daniel (Susan) Geldernick, Chili, and Timothy (Kathy) Geldernick, Chili; three daughters, Jeanne (Michael) Bell, Marshfield, Terry (Leroy) Bowe, Greenwood, and Shirley (Jim) Schmitt, Chili; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Sharon) Geldernick, Marshfield. And James Geldernick, East Dundee, Ill.; and a sister, Pauline (Herb) Weber, Downers Grove, Ill. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; a daughter, Karen Kay Geldernick; twin granddaughters, Renee and Lisa Geldernick; five brothers; and two sisters.
    The family will designate a memorial at a layer date.

    Clark Leo Appleton, age 66, of Kaukauna, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 5, 2008. He was born September 6, 1941, to the late Chester and Elizabeth (Weiland) Appleton, in Appleton. Clark married Carol Fritsch on November 24, 1979, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Clark farmed all of his life with his brother, Chuck. He put his whole heart and soul into farming. He was a 4-H member in his younger years and won many blue ribbons and won a grand champion ribbon for a cow he showed at the State Fair. He was a member of FFA and Farm Bureau Association. He loved country and polka music. Clark loved the countryside and would many times just get in the truck and drive around. We wish to thank the family, friends and neighbors for their helpfulness and for taking and giving Clark the opportunity to get out of the house when he was no longer able to drive to the places he loved.
    Clark is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his daughter, Sabrina Schmidt and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and James Schmidt. He is also survived by two brothers: Tom (Flora) Appleton; Dan (Nancy) Appleton; and a sister, Betty Appleton. He is further survived by his wife's family: Jerome (Carol) Fritsch; LeRoy (Mary Lou) Fritsch; Bernard (Sandy) Fritsch; Robert (Helen) Fritsch; Chuck (Connie) Fritsch; Patricia (Joseph) Rickert; and Nancy (Robert) Van Boxtel. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a brother Chuck and a sister, Pat Sutliff.
    The funeral liturgy for Clark will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Father Dave Hoffman and Father Paul Paider officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m., until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
    A special thanks to Dale Vande Voort for helping Clark and the family throughout the years and also many thanks to the ThedaCare at Home Hospice caregivers.
