    Irene M. Van Asten, 94, of Little Chute, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1920, in Boyd, WI, daughter of the late George and Rose (Klauson) Hermsen. Irene married Maurice Van Asten on May 22, 1944, at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna.
    In her younger days, she worked at Zwickers Knitting Mill in Appleton. She was active in the St. Elizabeth Society at St. John's in Little Chute for many years. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and homemaker. Irene enjoyed bowling and was very proud of the trophies that she was awarded. She also enjoyed playing cards and trips to the local casino. Her Holiday dinners were always a special treat for the entire family.
    Irene is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry) Krueger, Crandon; son-in-law, Charles Pingel, Little Chute; three grandchildren: Tim (Nikki), Brad (Lisa) and Sari; seven great grandchildren: Aaron, Laura, Aidan, Charli, Mason, Abby and Sara; a sister, Evelyn Labine; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
    Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; a daughter, Carol Pingel; her parents, George and Rose Hermsen; a sister, Harriet (Charles) Van Rossum; a brother, Martin (Ester) Hermsen; two infant brothers: Johnny and Richard; brother-in-law, Leroy Labine; in-laws: Urban (Barbara) Van Asten, Elmer (Bernetta) Huss, Ambrose (Tillie) Wiegman, Melvin (Lexie) Van Asten and Cyrus (Jean) Van Asten.
    Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.     Carol J. Pingel, Little Chute, age 67, died Sunday June 29, 2014 at her home. She was born on November 20, 1946 in Green Bay to Maurice and Irene (Hermsen) Van Asten. Carol married Charles Pingel on May 22, 1976 in Appleton. She was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where she was a member and served as treasurer of the St. Elizabeth Society. As a young girl, Carol played snare drum and marched with the Little Chute Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Den Leader Coach for 13 years for the Little Chute Pack 151 and earned the Cub Scout District Merit Award. Carol and her husband fostered 32 babies over a 10 year period. She was also a Big Sister in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program.
    Carol is survived by her husband of 38 years Charles; sons: Tim (Nikki) of Oxford, WI; and Brad (Lisa) of Appleton; grandchildren: Aaron, Laura, Mason, Abby and Sara; mother: Irene Van Asten; sister: Sharon (Larry) Krueger; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia Hall, Gerald Pingel, Carol Pingel and Wilmer Schulz. She is further survived by her puppy Joey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Carol was preceded in death by her father: Maurice Van Asten; father and mother-in-law: Carl and Laura Pingel; step father-in-law: Otto F. Pingel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Caroline (Melvin) Steiner, Kenneth Pingel, Harold S. Hall, Jeanette Schulz and Elizabeth (Charles) Peterson.
    Visitation will be held Thursday July 3, 2014 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr.
