    Clarence V. VanDeWettering, 73, of Verboort, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at his sister's home in Hillsboro.
    Services have been held.
    Mr. Vandewettering was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Forest Grove, the son of Henry Albert Vandewettering and Catherine Agnes (Kempen) Vandewettering. He attended grade school in Dilley and later graduated from Visitation High School in Verboort in 1952. He later attended the University of Portland, where he majored in Business Administration.
    He joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 14, 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received his honorable discharge on Nov.13, 1954.
    Mr. Vandewettering worked as a letter sorter for the United States Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1987.
    He was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church.
    Among his interests, he enjoyed all sports. While in college, he was active on the track team, participating in the shot put and discus.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Catherine Vandewettering, and three brothers, Vernon, Cyril and Wayne Vandewettering.
    Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Lorraine Vandewettering of Dallas; three sisters, Elaine Vandewettering of Verboort, Germaine Dreiling of Hillsboro, and Loretta Davis of Garibaldi, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Visitation School, 4247 NW Visitation Road, Forest Grove, 97116.
    Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove (503-357-2161) is in charge of the arrangements.
