    Jansen, Gertrude, (Techlin)A ppletonAge 97, passed away Monday December 29, 2003 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing C enter. Gertrude was born November 17, 1906 in Appleton, the daughter of t he late Henry and Emma (Gruenke) Techlin and has resided in Appleton a ll of her life. She was united in marriage to Dallas Jansen on August 3 0, 1925, sharing 69 years together before his death on September 21, 199 5. Gertrude and Dallas owned and operated The Radio Shop in Appleton f or 33 years. Following their retirement they pursued their interest in lap idary work, which led to many trips throughout the country. Gertrude w as a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a former member of t he church choir, a past president of the Women's Missionary Society, a nd a member of the church Visitation Group. She also served on the Applet on Girl Scout Council and was a member of the Appleton Gem Club. Gertru de is survived by two daughters Janette (Ed) Pirner of Appleton and Joa nn (Bob) Hubbell of Canon City, CO.; a sister-in-law Sylvia Techlin of App leton; five grandchildren Gary (Sherry) Pirner, Mark (Barbara) Pirner a ll of Appleton, Ronald Pirner of Menasha, Scott (Janice) Hubbell of Denve r, CO., and Brian (Sue) Hubbell of Spokane, WA.; ten great grandchildre n; and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husba nd, Gertrude was preceded in death by a brother Henry Techlin Jr.Gertrude had a deep abiding faith and is dearly loved by her entire famil y. A memorial service will be held 11AM Wednesday December 31st at the Bre ttschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Rev Chuck Fluegel Officiat ing. Private entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A memor ial fund has been established for the music department at Zion Lutheran Ch urch.

    Harold H. Techlin, 88, Appleton, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010. He was born November 4, 1922 to the late Alfred and Edna (Freund) Techlin in Appleton. Harold married Arlene Calnin on July 15, 1944.
    He is survived by his wife Arlene; children: Karen Coons and Terry (Nancy) Techlin; four grandchildren: Kris (Jerry) Sparkman, Keri Coons, Kelli Coons, Tim Techlin; three precious great grandchildren: Marcel Coons, Opal and Cleo Sparkman; brother, Lloyd (Shirley) Techlin and brother-in-law, John (Yvonne) Calnin.
    Harold was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, John Sr. and Rose Calnin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally (Ed) Plach.
    There will be Private family services held for Harold, per his request.

    Lloyd C. Techlin, age 86, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Lloyd was born on April 14, 1928, to the late Alfred and Edna Techlin. He grew up on a farm in the Town of Center and farmed there all of his life. On September 8, 1951, Lloyd married Shirley Wendt, daughter of the late George and Hilda (Schroeder) Wendt, and they spent 62 wonderful years together. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing Sheepshead. Lloyd especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
    He is survived by his wife, Shirley Techlin; sons, Randy Techlin and Kim (Penny) Techlin; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Techlin, Tamara (Christopher) Mattioli, Jason Techlin, Aaron (Kristin) Techlin, Amber Techlin, and Tyler Techlin; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Lilliana Mattioli, Jocelyn and James Techlin, and Pierce Faskell; sister-in-law, Arlene Techlin; and brothers-in-law, Merle (Ruth) Wendt, Larry (Carol) Wendt, and Jim Kiefer. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law; son, Tommy Ray Techlin; brother, Harold Techlin; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Kiefer.
    Funeral services for Lloyd will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at ST. PETER EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, N2740 French Road, Appleton. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hematology and Oncology staffs at AMC for all of their compassionate care.

    Funeral services for Marlowe J. Vyncke, 80, of East Moline, are 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline, where a family rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Marlowe died Thursday December 11, 2008, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. A memorial fund has been established.
    Marlowe Jean Techlin was born August 7, 1928, in Moline, the daughter of Edmund and Edna (Collins) Techlin. She married Paul R. Vyncke on June 26, 1948, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Marlowe had worked as a telephone operator and as a Tupperware Manager but found her greatest joy being a mother and a homemaker.
    Survivors include her husband, Paul; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Larry Hultgren of Rock Island, Cindy and Bill McMullen of Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Peggy Vyncke of Peel, Ark., Bruce and Becky Vyncke of East Moline, Paul D. Vyncke of East Moline and Richard and Kristy Vyncke of Colorado Springs, Colo.; fourteen grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister, Elinor Roitburd of Denver, Colo.
    Marlowe is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bud and a daughter, Lori Jean, who died in 2002.

    Janette M. Pirner, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her Appleton home on Wednesday, February 28, 2013. Janette was born on July 29, 1927 in Appleton. She was the daughter of the late Dallas and Gertrude (Techlin) Jansen of Appleton. In 1947, she was united in marriage to Edward Pirner in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 61 years together until his death in 2008. Janette had a career in teaching which she maintained throughout her life. After moving to Aurora, Colorado in 1957, then Seattle, Washington in 1961, and finally Stamford, Connecticut in 1964, Janette and Edward eventually moved back to Appleton in 1965. Janette was also a water color artist and found joy in her creative efforts with local art instructors and fellow artists. In their earlier years, she and Edward spent many happy times traveling together.
    The Christian faith was very much a part of Janette's life and activity. She was a choir member, committee member and an active member of Lutheran Churches throughout her life, even with every new home around the nation she and Edward created. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton.
    Janette is survived by three sons and their families: Gary (Sherry) Pirner, Mark (Barbara) Pirner, and Ronald Pirner; 6 grandchildren: Brian Pirner, Kristin (Jason) Byerly, Petra (Kevin) Aubrey, Greta (Murray) Froelich, Nicholas Pirner, and Elizabeth Pirner; 6 great grandchildren;
    A funeral service for Janette will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 5 at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.

    COAL VALLEY, Ill. -- Lori Jean Vyncke, a resident of Illinois Advocacy Home, Coal Valley, was freed of her earthly disabilities, to join our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, and became one of his special angels. A celebration of Lori's Life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Lori was cared for at home until the age of 15 and then resided in various assisted living facilities. Some of her favorite things were music, day trips and her daddy's whistling. She was born Dec. 8, 1957, in Rock Island, the daughter of Paul and Marlowe (Techlin) Vyncke. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School or Coal Valley Home. She is survived by her parents, Moline; brothers and sisters (and spouses), Carol (Larry) Hultgren, Rock Island, Alan (Peggy) Vyncke, Gilmore, Ark., Cindy (Bill) McMullen, Moline, Bruce (Becky) Vyncke, East Moline, Rick (Kristy) Vyncke, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Paul D. Vyncke, East Moline; and several nieces and nephews and the caring staff and residents of Coal Valley Home.
