From Faust family; Nicolas Faust came with his parents to Wisconsin in 1846, settling near Milwaukee. In 1856 they moved to Town of Harrison, Calumet Co and farmed. In 1864 Nicolas enlisted in Company F, second Wisconsin Cavalry and served until the end of the war. He later served as Command er of Paul H. Beaulieu Post GAR, as City Treasurer, and City Assessor of K aukauna, Supervisor in Calumet Co and was a member of the County Soldiers Relief Commission.

Nicholas Faust - The Faust Agency has changed its name to The Fox River Health and Accident Company. Nicholas Faust remains as president of the new company which he had founded. Mr. Faust was born on 1841 in Germany and came to this country at the age of six. He lived in Harrison in Calumet county moving to Kaukauna 18 years ago. He had gone into the insurance business after returning from the Civil war over 40 years ago.

Biography:
Nicholas Faust, who is one of the old insurance men of Outagamie County Wisconsin, having been continuously identified with this line since 186 5, is perhaps, as well known as any other citizen in this section, in which his standing as to business integrity has never been questioned. He w as born in Germany, Jan 3, 1841, and is a son of Johann S. and Maria (Reinertz) Faust. The family came to the Unites States in 1846 and settled in what was then a wild section of the county, although 6 miles from Milwaukee. the father cleared the land and developed a farm on which he labored until 1854, when he removed his family to Fond du Lac County, where he lived until 1856, when he sold and moved to another wild section, locating in Harrison township, Calumet County. That land he also cleared and then sold and retired to Menasha, where he died at the age of 54 year s. the mother of Mr. Faust died in Outagamie County. They had the following children born to them: Nicholas: two babes who died in infancy: John, w ho was killed while serving as a soldier in the Civil War; Annie, who is t he wife of Joseph Renn, residing in Outagamie county; Mary, who is the wife of M. Renn, residing at Appleton; Katherina, who is the wife of G. How e, residing at Portland, Or.; Anton, who died in California; and Louis w ho died at Menasha, WI. Nicholas Faust had but limited educational opportunities and afterward, as the eldest son, had many responsibilities in connection with clearing up the wild farms with his father. In 1864 he enlisted for service in the Civil War, entering Company F, second Wisconsin Cavalry, and was honorably discharged June 22, 1865 at Memphis Tenn. He participated in many sharp engagements and in the one at Egypt Station received a wound in the side and also, at one time, had his horse shot from under him. After his military service was over and he had returned home he spent a short time on the farm and at Menasha and then entered the insurance business, one in which he had met with much success. He was first located in Calumet County, removing to Kaukauna in 1890, in June 1908, organizing the Fox River Health and Accident Co., of which he is president, August Heinz being treasurer and Charles J Faust being secretary. he represents all the leading lines of life and fire insurance, doing general insurance business and having important connections. On December 26, 1863, Mr. Faust was married to Miss Mary K. Furstenberg, who was born in Saxony, Germany and came to the United States with her parents in 1855. Ten children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Faust, namely: Joseph J. who is in the well excavating business at Kaukauna; Louis S. who lives at Sheboygan; Henry L. w ho lives at Oshkosh; Charles J. who is with his father; Matt G. who lives in this city; Katie, who is the wife of Joseph J. Berendson, of Green B ay; Edward and Tony, both of whom are deceased, and two babies who died at birth. Mr. Faust and family are members of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. In politics he is a Republican, and on numerous occasions he has been elected to public office, serving as county assessor and treasurer of Kaukauna and formerly was supervisor in Calumet count y. He is a member of the G.A.R.

Biography:
Joseph J. Faust, a well known business man of Kaukauna, is a member of o ne the old pioneer families of Wisconsin, the grandparents coming from Ger many and settling in 1846 near Milwaukee, subsequently living in Calumet a nd Fond du Lac counties. Joesph J. Faust was born in Harrson township Nove mber 16, 1864 son of Micholas and Maria K. (Furstenberg) Faust. The fath er was about 6 years of age when the grandparents came to America. He w as a soldier in the Civil war and is a member of the G.A.R. He is promine nt in insurance affairs, being president of the Fox River Health and Accid ent Company, and has been a resident of Kaukauna since 1890. The moth er of Mr Faust was born in germany in 1845 and came to Wisconsin when youn g. Their family contained 10 children. after his school days were over Jos eph J Faust traveled for a time for a nusery company, but in October 18 79 he embarked in his present business that of well drilling. He has compl ete equipment including modern machinery for this business and wor ks 6 to 8 men. He was married June 28, 1887 to Miss Johanna Hoffman, who w as born in Germany and accompanied her parents to the United States in 18 81 and to Calumet County where he father was a farmer, and died in 1908, h aving survived his wife since 1892. To Mr and Mrs Faust nine children ha ve been born, as follows: Suan M. who is a milliner; Louis J. who is in bu siness with his father; and Bernard N , Peter C. who live at home; Till y, who is deceased; Cecelia M., Michael A., and Gregory M., all of whom a re at home, while the eldest Katherine died when aged 18 months. Mr. Fau st and family are members of the Holy Cross Catholic church. he is a memb er of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph's Society and the Forester s, of which, his son Louis J, is also a member, while his wife belon gs to the Lady Foresters. Mr Faust has been active in other lines. For sev en years he served as a member of the city fire department and was subsequ ently made chief of this brave and efficient body of men and served as chi ef for four yeras. he is a practical electrician and for two yeras was emp loyed by the municipality as city electrician.

Joseph Faust, formerly of Kaukauna, passed away in Arizona on October 8, 2015, at the age of 88. Funeral arrangements are pending, and will be announced soon. For more information or to share a memory, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.

On October 8, 2015, Joseph L. Faust originally of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, went to join his Heavenly Father in eternal peace. Joe was born November 27, 1926, and was raised in Kaukauna, the eldest son (but the fifth of seven children) of Louis J. and Mary (Hager) Faust. Joe attended Kaukauna High School and St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Manila and Tokyo as a Supply Sergeant. Following his discharge, he relocated to Milwaukee to find work, and in 1963, met his "angel", Carol Natrop. The couple married on June 19, 1965 at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. They settled in Thiensville, Wisconsin, where they adopted three children and raised their family. Joe and Carol are outspoken advocates for Adoption and Pro Life organizations and causes.
An active community member wherever he lived, Joe was a Boy Scout during his teenage years, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post #66 in Green Valley, Arizona, the Purchasing Management Association, and a tireless volunteer to church parishes he belonged to in Kaukauna, Milwaukee, Thiensville, Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, and most recently in Green Valley, Arizona. He served as Grand Knight for his KC council in the 1980's, serving an unusual two terms, was the director of the St Gall Food Program through St Cecilia Church, in Thiensville, for much of the 1990's and participated as a Men's Group volunteer at both St. Anthony's, in Lac Du Flambeau, and Our Lady of the Valley, in Green Valley, Catholic Churches since the late 1990's. For many years, Joe led the KC annual Tootsie Roll Drive for the Mentally Handicapped. In 1989, the couple retired and purchased a cottage in Lac Du Flambeau, where Joe enjoyed fishing. In 1997, they retired to Green Valley. There he was a member of woodworking, silversmith and lapidary clubs. Joe enjoyed woodworking and fishing his entire life. He also loved working with stained glass. His children, nieces and nephews were given one of- a- kind wooden toys he created early in their young lives. His family will remember him as forever faithful to the Lord, charitable, strong, and absolutely dedicated to noble projects.
Joe will be missed by his loving wife of 50 years: Carol (Natrop) Faust; two sons: Joseph (Cynthia) Faust and Mark Faust; a daughter: Caroline (David) Berns; two grandchildren: Nicholas and Natalie Berns; a brother Louis (Mary Hartzheim) Faust; and a sister: Margaret Belson. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Joan M. Cleveland, age 82, St. Paul Villa, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2007, at the Appleton Medical Center. Joan was born June 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Bernard "Barney" and Cecilia (Faust) Lamers. On September 14, 1946, Joan married Orville "Bud" Cleveland at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna; he survives. Joan worked for several years as the Deputy City Clerk for Kaukauna, and from 1974 until 1986, served as the City Clerk. Upon her retirement, she was given a key to the city. For thirteen years, she kept the books for her husband's business, Bud's 66.
Joan was a woman of profound faith who prayed the rosary with her husband daily. Joan will be remembered as a dedicated and longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she volunteered many hours as the bookkeeper for the renovating committee. Her keen mind made her a difficult opponent for anyone brave enough to challenge her to a game of Scrabble or Boggle. She also excelled at crossword puzzles. Joan was a talented seamstress and was able to craft all sorts of crocheted and knitted items for her loved ones. She was a member of the Lady Knights of Columbus and in her earlier years enjoyed square dancing. Joan daily admired all of God's creation, and enjoyed the water, watching the sunset, as well as being an avid bird watcher. A passionate reader, it seemed that she read nearly a book each day.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years: Orville "Bud" Cleveland, Kaukauna; six children: Thomas (Kris) Cleveland, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Michael (Sally) Cleveland, Kaukauna; Patrick Cleveland and his friend Barb Karas, Rapid River, Michigan; Margaret "Peg" (Steve) Vande Hey, Kaukauna; Teresa "Terri" (Arden) Bolland, Burnsville, Minnesota; Suzanne "Suzie" (Jack) Klein, Neenah. There are also seventeen grandchildren: Heather (David) DiStefano, Brennan (Renata) Cleveland, Kyle (Valerie) Cleveland, Sean (Kristina) Cleveland, Tiffany Cleveland, Rebecca (Curt) Hietpas, Robert (fiancee Laura Schmidt) Ronk, Nicole (Tom) Ellis, Hayden "Duke" Cleveland, Nathan (Nancy) Vande Hey, Celia (Kevin) McKee, Greg (Beth) Vande Hey, Andrew Bolland, Michael Bolland, Marla Klein, Corbin Klein, and Melissa (fiance David) Klein. The funeral liturgy for Joan will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Clarence (Barney) J. Lamers of De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2011, at 78. Clarence was born in Kaukauna, Wisconsin on January 17, 1933, to the late Bernard Lamers and Cecilia Faust-Lamers, the sixth of eight children. The family story is that his father was so excited to have a boy after five girls that he drove a horse and buggy around town to announce it, then they were lucky enough to have a boy and a girl after that. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shari Winkler, their four children: Brian, Melissa, Andrea (and Tom) and Jessica (and Jason); nine grandchildren: Oliver, Cecilia, Demetrius, Madeline, Mason, Cole, Carson, Tag and Pia; sister, Lois (and Harold) Bozile, Sister-in-Laws, Helen and Donna; and Brothers-in-Laws, Francis (Fitz) and Ronald.
Clarence spoke fondly of his many happy memories growing up in a small town and the close childhood friends and family he still "chummed" with all the way back to his days at Holy Cross Elementary and Kaukauna High School. He attended UW-Stout on a football scholarship and played collegiate football and tennis. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned home to earn his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at UW-Madison and later taught Ph.D. level courses in Physics. Clarence and Shari were married on July 5, 1958, in Askeaton at St. Patrick's Church and moved to Marinette, where he worked in industrial development and energy technology at Wisconsin Public Service for 10 years. The family moved to E. De Pere and he worked at Kimberly-Clark for 10 years as an executive manager of Energy Development and traveling extensively throughout Latin America. Always a visionary and a master tinkerer, Clarence held over 5 patents for his ideas. Clarence came out of retirement several times to consult for renewable energy and cogeneration companies. He finally retired to Mesa at 62 where he honed his golf game taking home many trophies in men's tournaments around Arizona. Active in politics, Clarence volunteered on many state and local campaigns and held positions as an appointee of Gov. Tommy Thompson to the WI Planning Commission. Clarence, an Eagle Scout, took his volunteer service seriously and was honored to serve his community for many years as President of the JC's, a member of Kiwanis Club, the Men's Club, American Legion, Sullivan-Wallen Post #11, and the Elk's Club. He was also very active in his children's sporting and education activities, always cheering them on and involved in his church, St. Francis, where he was a lecturer and usher. Clarence was a prostate cancer survivor who was honored by Cancer Centers of America for over a decade in remission, for his unbelievable zest for life, his fight to overcome his own disease and his support of other families and men suffering cancer.
Clarence is preceded in death by his sisters, Joan (Orville), Clarice (Rick), Audrey (George), Ruth Marie, Laverne (Francis); and his brother, (Joseph), and brother-in-Law, (Marty).
Barney lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by his wife, children and (Papa Barney) by his nine grandchildren.

Mr. Faust was born June 3, 1946 in Kaukauna. He was a 1964 graduate of Kaukauna High School. He married Lois Hansen Feb. 10, 1966. The couple moved to Rhinelander in 1972 when he was employed at Red Owl. He owned and operated Bert's Resort on Lake George.
Mr. Faust was a member of the Oneida County Tavern League, the Town of Pelican Community Club, a former member of the Town of Peilcan Fire Department, a past member of the Jaycees, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Karen and Leone, both at home; one son, Michael at home, three sisters. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. Mary's Church with Father James Brinkman officiation. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlson Funeral Home with a 7:30 pm prayer service.

Elaine L. Theabo, 87, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Willow Lane Assisted Living. Elaine was born on April 10, 1927 in Oshkosh to the late Adolph and Frances (Faust) Janssen. Elaine graduated from Mercy Medical College with her degree in Nursing.On May 20, 1950 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Earl Theabo. Elaine was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. She was very active in the church; serving on the funeral committee, as a lector, communion distributor, and with the daily rosary league. Elaine was also involved with the Senior Center in Waushara County, the Waushara County SHARE Program, the Linus Program which provides quilts for children in need, and she was a member of the Eagle's Club Auxiliary.Elaine enjoyed camping and cooking out on the fire pit. She loved her flower garden, and knitting, crocheting and praying for her family.Elaine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl Theabo, her children; Mary Hare, Jean (Robert) Schultz, Rose (Robert) Prader, Michael, Paul, Gary (Cindy), and John (Pam) Theabo, by her 27 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her mother Frances Janssen, her father and step-mother Adolph (Lenore) Janssen, and by her brothers; Lawrence (Cecelia) and Clayton, her sister Doris (Malcolm) Larson, and by her son-in-law Richard Hare and daughter-in-law Gwen Theabo.Private family services will be held.The family wishes to send their deepest thanks to the staff of Willow Lane Assisted Living, and Hospice Advantage for the loving care of their mother. Kathleen "Kathy" M. Ott, (Deeg), Sherwood, age 65, died peacefully on Monday July 21, 2014 at home with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 5, 1949 in Appleton, WI, daughter of the late George and Audrey (Lamers) Deeg. On March 14, 1969 Kathy married Randy Ott. The couple resided in the Sherwood area their entire married lives. Kathy was a dedicated volunteer, a talented seamstress and a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, "seester", and a friend to "ALL". She will be sewn in our hearts forever, we love you! Kathy loved bingo and going to the grandchildren's activities. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sherwood. Kathy was a meal site manager for Meals on Wheels for over 15 years.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Randy, Sherwood; 4 sons: Randy Jr. (Lori), Spokane, WA, Mark (Laura), Chilton, Ryon (Heather), Appleton, and Kristopher (Lori), Hilbert; 7 grandchildren: Morgan, Trevor, Taylor, Brianna, Vincent, Logan, Sophia, and baby Ott on the way; 1 "seester", Karen Van Dinter, Neenah; 3 brothers: Ron (Terri) Deeg, Georgia, Alan (Angela) Deeg, Appleton, and Dan (Terri) Deeg, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Stephen "Steve" Meinert, age 17, of Rhinelander, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital following an auto accident. He was born on February 25, 1988, in Jacksonville, Florida to James Meinert and Leone Faust. Steve attended Central School and was currently a junior at Rhinelander High School. He was employed at Subway of Rhinelander. Steve loved to work on cars and wanted to be a mechanic. He was very proud of his truck and loved to drive. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and bowler. He was a member of the YMCA of the Northwoods. Steve will be remembered for his smile, his blue eyes, and his relationships with family and friends. Steve is survived by his mother, Leone (Ken Weber) Faust of Rhinelander; his father, James Meinert of Springfield, IL; sister, Jennifer Meinert and brother, Eric Meinert, both of Rhinelander; step brothers and sister, Scott Weber of Milwaukee and Christopher and Krystal Weber, both of Wisconsin Dells; paternal grandfather, Edwin Meinert Sr. of Rhinelander; step grandparents, Roland and Carol Weber of Milwaukee; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
