After wiping the moss off the headstone, I cou ld see that there must have been a 'typo' on the funeral card....the heads tone has her date of death as 4-6-1903, not 4-9-1903. Interesting too th at her funeral card says "Catharine Ver Hulst", but the headstone says "Catharine Van Hulst". Attached are photos of the headstone, and a clo se up of the date of death.On my father's funeral card for Catharine Ver Hulst, (not sure where he g ot it, he wasn't born yet when she died), is my Dad's writing that states that this is Anna Gerrits's mother's 2nd marriage...her first marriage was to Cornelius Gerrits.

Obituary:
Henry Vanhulst, of the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis., died of smallpox at his home on Wednesday of last week. He had been taken ill while in a lumber camp and returned to his home, and apparently recovered from the disease, but a relapse followed, which ended his life in short order. A daughter was also taken ill with the disease, but has recovered. He was about 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and seven children. The remains were buried here in the Catholic Cemetery by neighbors, no services being held.

John Gerrits, 64, route 1, Forest Junction, died unexpectedly at 10:45 Thursday evening at his home. He was born in 1874 in Forest Junction and spent his entire life in that vicinity. He was a member of St. Joseph's society of St. Francis church at Hollandtown. Survivors are the widow; four daughters, Miss Minnie Gerrits, Oshkosh; Miss Regina Gerrits, DeP ere; Mrs. Lawrence Tennessen, Hollandtown; Mrs. Harold Lautenschlager. Brillion; four sons, Frank, Hollandtown; Albert, Ambrose and Lawrence, at home; three brothers, Vick, Little Chute; Anton, Hollandown; William, Wrightstown; two sisters, Mrs. George Coonen, Little Chute; Mrs. Arnold Van Dyke, Wrightstown; one grandchild. Nicholas "Joe" Joseph Gerrits, 96, Kaukauna, formerly of Little Chute passed away Monday, November 13, 2006, at St. Paul Villa. He was born March 5, 1910, in Hollandtown son of George and Catherine (Van Vonderon) Gerrits. Joseph married Frances M. Van Hammond September 23, 1936, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, where he was also a member. Joseph was employed at the Van Zeeland Chrysler/Plymouth Garage in Little Chute for many years, retiring in 1973. He was an avid bike rider with his wife, Frances and his brother-and sister-in-law Joseph and Gladys Van Hammond.
Mr. Gerrits is survived by his wife, Frances; a daughter, Donna Durawa, Green Bay; 3 grandchildren: Jaye Marie (Thomas) Mortensen, Brookfield; Andrew (Thea) Durawa, Whitefish Bay; James J. (Ann Brock) Durawa, Portland, Oregon; 5 great grandchildren: Lilia, Ella and Anna Mortensen, Xavier and Amara Durawa; brothers-and sisters-in-law: George Wydeven, Appleton; Lorraine Daniels, Appleton; Mildred Vander Heiden, Kaukauna; Tony Gloudemans, Little Chute; many nieces and nephews.

Mary Tennessen, age 94, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Kindred Hearts in Kaukauna. Mary was born in the town of Woodville on March 3, 1914, daughter of the late John and Ann (Conrady) Gerrits. On June 2, 1936, she married Lawrence Tennessen in Hollandtown; he preceded her in death in 1990. Mary worked at the Kaukauna Community Hospital for a number of years before retirement. She enjoyed making rag rugs in the basement of her home and was also known for her crocheting. Many of her family and friends have received handmade gifts from her over the years. Mary was a longtime and faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church (St. Katharine Drexel) in Kaukauna.
She is survived by a son, Donald "Bert" (Mary) Tennessen of Combined Locks; two daughters: Joan (Gary) Dollevoet of Hilbert and Rose Tennessen of Kimberly; a daughter-in-law, Blanche Meyer of Greenleaf; eleven grandchildren: Denise (Joe) Fritsch, Pat Tennessen, Carlos (Kathy) Tennessen, Alan (Patty) Tennessen, Tom (Julie) Tennessen, Ron (Jennifer) Tennessen, Lori (Dale) Zuleger, Lisa (Rick) Zuehl, Mark (Tracy) Dollevoet, Tim (Stacy) Dollevoet, and Tracey (Mike) Driessen. Harvey Van Dyke passed away at his home in Waupun on Sunday, December 7, 2008, only two days before his 92nd birthday. He was born on December 9, 1916, in Wrightstown to Arnold and Annie (Gerrits) Van Dyke. He was united in marriage to Irene Hopfensperger on August 26th, 1938. She preceded him in death on November 8th, 2007. Harvey was honorably discharged from the Army in 1941, and was engaged in farming and was a union carpenter for many years. Harvey loved to play cards, and to ride his bicycle every day along the recreation trail in Waupun.
Harvey is survived and will be greatly missed by his two daughters: Joyce (Gerald) Lamers of Kaukauna and Terri (Thomas) Main of Waupun; a son-in-law: Leo Penterman of Appleton. He is further survived by ten grandchildren: Lori (Tim) Hietpas, Kerri (Nick) Siegel, Mike Lamers and his special friend April Schwantes, Brad (Jenny) Main, Michelle (Andy) Kast, Kathy (Greg) Hagens, Diane (Bill) Lutz, Douglas (Donna) Penterman, Lisa (Scott) Underwood, and Bill (Laurie) Penterman; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law: Doris Van Dyke, Esther Thiel, Shirley Hopfensperger, and Myrna Hopfensperger; and a brother-in-law John Wisneski.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, a daughter: Sandra Penterman, a grandson: Joseph Penterman, three brothers: Richard, Clarence, and Robert, and four sisters: Catherine Meulemans, Clara Nieling, Leona VanDeLeyGraaf, and Alrita Wisneski.
The funeral liturgy for Henry will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH (St. Mary's Site) 119 W. 7th Street, in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

You are missing my other twin Aunt Lorraine married to Patrick McDaniel live in Racine. Aunt Norraine lived in Appleton and she passed away along with her husband with in a few months. My mother, Regina was in the middle of the family. She had 5 older than her and 5 younger than her. She was 10 years old when her mother died and the twins were 10 days old. So my mother took care of the younger kids until she was 17 when Calumet County took the kids away from their father because he was drunk all the time and not providing for them. The older boys when to area farms and other older girls when so some time job. Uncle Bob was a little slow so they sent him to Chippewa Falls to some home for boys. Uncle Kenneth and Ruth went to the orphanage in Green Bay and my mother went to Our Lady of Charity because she was too young to be on her own and to old for the orphanage because she was only 17 years. After my mother and dad were married they took Ruth out of the orphanage to live with them on the Brooks Homestead until till she married her husband, Richard Vosters. The twins were adopted my their mother's brothers....Bill Gerrits adopted Lorraine and Nicholas Gerrits adopted Norraine. There were always hard feelings between my mother and her twin sister, Lorraine because she never invited her brothers and sisters to her wedding. Mother would always says Lorraine wasn't her sister anymore.....she even went to the grave not seeing her sister. After mother died I decided that I wanted to see Aunt Lorraine but she just made excuses why I couldn't come and see her in Racine...She was gone all summer to the cottage and in the fall they went to a lot of Packer Games. Well that was OK for awhile........but being the full blooded Hollander that I am I went on a mission. Just so happens Aunt Lorraine had knee surgery and she was confined to her home and I showed up on her door step. She was a little shocked at first but I felt satisfied that I went to see her but I haven't heard a word from her since...I believe she is still alive. I think last time I saw her I must have been 7 or 8 years old at Uncle Bill's house in Wrightstown. When I went to visit Aunt Lorraine I should have taken Kay Krueger Pingel, Norraine's daughter, with me because she was 10 years old when her mother, Norraine died and 3 months later her father died. Her and her brother, Mark, landed in a foster home....I guess Lorraine never got in contact with her twin sisters children and Kay wanted to see her, too. I will always hope she would try and get a hold of Kay to talk to her but that isn't very likely...I tried...but at least she let me take their picture before I left. So I gave Kay a picture of her Aunt that she has never seen . Well, I better gone now before I get email cramps in my fingers. This is the most of typed since I retired.

She married Reinhard Harder on November 8, 1930 in Waukegan, Illinois. She worked at L.M Becker in Brillion for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion.
Viola is survived by her husband, Reinhard; a daughter, Audrey Harder, Milwaukee; a son, Donald "Pat" Harder, Menasha; two sisters; Regina Brooks, Appleton; Lorraine McGregor, Racine; three brothers and a sister-in-law; Clem and Katie Fink, Cambria; Robert Fink, Chippewa Falls; Kenneth Fink, Alabama.
Viola is further survived by her in laws; Frederick and Marcella Harder, Hilbert; Gerhard Harder, San Antonio, Texas; and Lorene Harder, Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by three sister; Genevieve, Ruth, Norraine, and two brother; Clarence and Norbert.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion with the Rev. Ross Henzi officiating.
Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery, Chilton.
Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to especially thank the nurses and staff of Oakridge Gardens for their loving care they gave to Viola.

Brooks, Regina A. Little Chute Age 86, passed away Friday, January 24, 2003 at a local care center. Regi na was born in the Town of Woodville, daughter of the late Henry and Cathe rine (Gerrits) Fink. On October 5, 1937, she married Leo Brooks. He preced ed her in death in 1992. Regina was well known for her needlework, especia lly crochet. She was also a faithful fan of the daily soap operas on telev ision. Regina was also a longtime and faithful member of Holy Cross Chur ch in Kaukauna, but had recently attended Holy Name in Kimberly.She is survived by two daughters: Jeanne (Thomas) Selig of Kimberly and Ju dy (Fritz) Voecks of Appleton; a son: Gerald (Maryann) Brooks of Kaukaun a; six grandchildren: Annette (Dan) Goeser, Dan (Brenda) Brooks, Diane (Sc ott) Vande Wettering, Sarah Selig, Jennifer Selig, and Michelle (Lee) Grie sbach; six great-grandchildren: Mellissa Brooks, Zachary Brooks, Travis, G oeser, Justin Goeser, Logan Vande Wettering, and Ross Vande Wettering; a s ister: Lorraine (Pat) McDaniel of Racine; two brothers: Robert Fink of Chi ppewa Falls and Kenneth Fink of Fayetteville, Alabama; two sisters-in-la w: Katherine Fink of Cambria and Helen Schuh of Appleton; and a brother-in -law: Francis Brooks of Kaukauna. Kaukauna Times News; Pfc. Class Kenneth J. Fink has been recognized for heroic service in connection with military operations in Germany against enemy forces November 10 to 13, 1944. Kenneth, an ammunition bearer carried desperately needed ammo to assault troops under constant enemy fire. On return trips he assisted injured personnel to the aid station. Thyssen, Martin Formerly of 610 Reed Street, Neenah, age 88, died Friday, February 15, 20 02 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah after a brief illness. He was bo rn February 21, 1913 in Little Chute, son of Walter and Mary (Hendricks) T hyssen. Martin married Lillian Vanevenhoven, October 29, 1938 at St. Jose ph Parish in Appleton. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Churc h, Neenah. Martin was employed for 37 years by the Neenah Foundry, retiri ng in 1975. He was highly respected as Superintendent of Plant #3. Mart in had 2 holes in 1 in his golfing career at Ridgeway Country Club. He lov ed being with his family, fishing on the Wolf River with his brothers; squ are dancing and raising his special Ox Heart tomato plants. In retiremen t, he and his wife volunteered at the Golden Age Club in Appleton; traveli ng, playing cards and water exercise at the Neenah YMCA. He possessed crea tive woodworking talents and enjoyed assisting with carpentry jobs for fam ily and friends. Martin was a deeply spiritual, gentle, and compassiona te person. He attended mass daily and meeting with his generous wishe s, he was a bone and tissue donor. The former Ethel Elizabeth Thyssen was born in Febr uary 24th, 1919 in Grand Chute, daughter of the late Walter and Mary Hendr icks Thyssen. She was married to Paul A. Hietpas on February 14th, 19 42 at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. Ethel was a sewing instru ctor for the village of Little Chute for many years and was employed at B ee Frank's shop as a seamstress for about 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Hietp as resided at 120 Lincoln Ave, Little Chute before moving to Rost La ke in 1982. Ethel was a member of the Choir of SS. Francis and Wencesla us Catholic Church, Klondike, where she was a very active member. She al so was a member of the St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute, where she w as very active in church affairs. Age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute, surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Little Chute on May 28, 1918, son of the late John and Johanna (Thyssen) Van Vonderen. On August 27, 1941, Joe married the former Luella Petit in New London; she survives. For many years, Joe was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper, retiring in 1981 as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Thilmany Management Club and the Thilmany Quarter-Century Club. He served his country faithfully as a member of the U.S. Army, and was also a member of the Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW and the Golden Agers. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, golfing, traveling with his family, and fishing. His favorite times came from spending time at the family cottage on Thunder Lake, boating and water-skiing with his children and grandchildren. Joe was a "Master Fixer-Upper", and many will remember his desire to constantly putter with engines, electricity, or anything else that caught his eye and needed "adjustment".
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luella Van Vonderen of Kaukauna; two sons: John J. He was born June 8, 1923 to Joseph a nd Gertrude (Thyssen) Demerath and grew up on a farm in Freedom, Wisconsin .He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, working in mil itary hospitals in North Carolina, England and France. As an Army medi c, he admitted patients, wrote up medical records, and worked with the inj ured. After the war, he returned to the Fox Valley and married Rose Hamm en on June 21, 1947. Using his skills and determination, he built his fami ly home in Little Chute, Wisconsin. For most of life, he worked in superma rkets as a manager/bookkeeper for Krambo's, Kroger's, and Red Owl. In 197 7, he lost his loving wife of 30 years to cancer. Then, in 1982, he mov ed to Kelly Lake and purchased what is now known as Norb and Lisa's Kel ly Lake Bar. He married Lisa Kussow on March 1, 1991. Together they have e njoyed the camaraderie of patrons and friends at Kelly Lake Bar.He was an avid reader, always thirsting for more knowledge. Norb lov ed to travel. While serving our country, he explored much of Europe, danci ng in Piccadilly Square the day the War ended. Over the years he has trave led with family and friends, seeing much of the United States. Playing car ds, pointing out the sights of Kelly Lake from his pontoon boat, and playi ng with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been wonderful past imes for him.Norb had an undying patriotism for his country. He was an active lifelo ng member of the American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute, serving as Po st Commander in 1969 and editor of their newsletter for many years. He w as also a member of 40 et 8 and D.A.V. In addition, he served as an ush er for St. John's Parish in Little Chute, was a member of the Knights of C olumbus, the Kelly Lake Sportsman's Club, serving as it's treasurer and Oc onto County Tavern League. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; two da ughters: Sandy (Joe) Stadler, Appleton; Julie (Pete) Giordana, Estes Par k, Colorado; three step-children: Terry (Mary) Kussow, Little Chute; Jeani ne (Darrell) Manning and Dave (Leanna) Kussow, Kelly Lake; grandchildre n: Andy (Megan) Stadler, Wichita, Kansas; Greg (Sarah) Stadler, Black Cree k; Becky (Matt) Schumacher, LaCrosse; Josh and Kali Giordana, Estes Par k, Colorado; Shannon Kussow, Little Chute; Justin and Tyler Manning, Kel ly Lake; Wyatt and Tiffany Kussow, Kelly Lake. Edward J. Demerath, 74, Green Bay, died Wednesday afternoon, June 6, 2001, at a local nursing home. Born in Freedom on July 1, 1926, he is the son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Thyessen) Demerath . He married the former Ruth Bilquist on Sept. 17, 1949, at St. Philip the Apostle Parish and she preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1996. Ed worked most of his life at Northern Paper Mill. He enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, fishing, making booyah, traveling, and times spent with his family.

Robert L. Van Hulst, age 77, Seymour passed away Sunday evening February 20, 2011, in Green Bay. He was born December 10, 1933, in Wisconsin, son of the late John and Cordula (Fischer)Van Hulst. On June 8, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carol Widder. Bob was a Korean Army veteran. He enjoyed trips to the casinos in the area with his daughter and was second in line for the first bingo game ever played in Oneida. Bob enjoyed his fishing trip to Cass Lake and most of all enjoyed time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joyce A Schmitt, Fairy Springs Rd, Hilbert, age 70, died Wednesday, November 6, 1991 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 2, 1921 at Thorp, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Earl and Josephine (VanHulst) Alger. She was a graduate of St. John High School, Little Chute. She was married to Robert Schmitt on November 22, 1939 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna. After marriage, the couple had resided in the Stockbridge area, where Mrs Schmitt resided for the last 43 years. She worked as a laborer for Tecumseh Products, New Holstein for several years; she then owned and operated a restaurant in Stockbridge for four years, retiring in 1968, and then was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sherwood. She enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with her many friends.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Mrs LeRoy (Janet) Ecker, and Mrs Thomas (Alyce) Head, all of Stockbridge; a son, Wayne Schmitt, Appleton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law; Mrs John (June) Weber Sr, Stockbridge; Mrs Les (Pat) Winius, Little Chute; Mrs David (Carol) Elmergreen, Stockbridge; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Marvin and Lorraine Alger, Kaukauna; John and Mary Alger, Chilton; Ronald and Dorothy Alger, Stockbridge; a very special friend, Ellen Hemauer, Stockbridge.

June Weber, age 84, of Stockbridge, passed away on Tuesday, January 06, 2015. June was born on June, 1, 1930 to the late Earl and Josephine (Van Holst) Alger. She married the late John Weber, Sr. on June 10, 1948. June loved bird watching, gardening, playing 500 rummy, and trying her luck at the slot machines in Carter. Every Christmas she would make candy to hand out to family members and friends, which was always a treat. The biggest joy in June's life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. June was a faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church for many years.

Patricia R. Winius, Little Chute, age 84, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 25, 2016 as a result of a long battle with heart disease at the St. Paul Home. She was born in Kaukauna to the late Earl and Josephine (Van Holst) Alger. On February 13, 1954 she was united in marriage to Lester Winius. Together, they raised 7 children and owned and operated several business, including Morning Glory Dairy and Village Lanes, both in Little Chute. Pat enjoyed reading, gardening and sharing a good joke.

Chilton - John "Buzz" Alger - John Alger, 83, died on June 11th, 2018.
Son of Earl and Josephine (VanHulst) Alger, John was born in Little Chute. He spent his childhood in Kaukauna and moved to Fairy Springs Beach on Lake Winnebago before seventh grade. John graduated from Stockbridge High School. In 1956 he married Mary Wagner at St. Mary's in Stockbridge. After he was married, he was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.
John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially sturgeon spearing. He had a vast knowledge of nature that he enjoyed sharing. John had a great sense of humor that was enjoyed by many and will be greatly missed. He lived on Lake Winnebago for many years, which provided a great place to raise a family. He came up with many fun adventures for his two daughters and their friends.
John worked as a pressman at American Can Co. in Neenah for 41 years.
John is survived by his wife, Mary, and his children Kathryn (Jack) Doxtator and Holly (David) Boe. Six grandchildren, Chantae Mittelstaedt, Shaun Bogan, Brittney Wanless, Blake, Grant and Shane Boe. Four great-grandchildren, Gage, Malia, Sophia and Keaton Mittelstaedt.
His brother, Ronald (Dorothy) Alger and sister, Carol Elmergreen. Brothers-in-law Les Winius, John (Sandi) Wagner, Mark (Sandy) Wagner and sisters-in-law Mary Kay Wagner, Joan (Andrew) Meyer, Lois (Bill) Forstner.
