KAUKAUNA: Mrs. Henry Weyenberg, the mothr of 15 children of whom 13 are living was buried from her home Wednesday. Survivors besides her husband and children, there survives in this city, three brothers; John, George and Peter Bergmans and in the town of Kaukauna, two sisters, Mrs. Anton Detrich and Mrs. George Williamson. Two years ago, Mrs. Weyenberg became the mother of twins at the age of 42.

Biography:
ADRIAN BERGMANS, who has spent his life in agricultural pursuits in Vanden broek town, is now the owner of the Bergmans homestead in Little Chute Rur al District No. 9, in which he was born August 11, 1870. He is a son of Pe ter Bergmans, who was born in Holland and came to the United States with h is wife, Theodora Bergmrans, and their six children, John, Annie, Hatti e, Hannah, Georgiana and Peter, in 1869, settling in the town of Kaukaun a, south of the Fox river, and shortly thereafter going to the farm whi ch is now owned by Adrian iBergmans. Here Peter Bergmans died in 1882, ag ed fifty-eight years, while his wife, who was born Maiv 12, 1822, passed a way in 1895. Adrian Bergmans was the only child of his parents to be bo rn in this country and he received his education in the district schoo ls of Vandenbroek township. He was reared to the life of an agriculturi st and has always lived on the home farm, of which he took charge at the t ime of his father's death, working it on shares for his mother. When she d ied he bought the interests of the other heirs, and he has since made nume rous improvements, both to land and buildings. He has brought this proper ty into a high state of cultivation, and by hard work and the use of pract ical methods has made it one of the valuable properties of the town of Van denbroek. In the fall of 1896, Mr. Bergmans was married to Mary Schumache r, who was born on the old Schumacher homestead in Vandenbroek, daught er of John and Minnie (Vandenhooven) Schumacher, the former a native of Ge rmany and the latter of Holland. Mr. Schumacher came as a very early settl er to Outagamie county, and spent his life in agricultural pursuits.
Six children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Bergrmans, namely: Dora, bo rn October 28, 1898; Minnie, born November 2, 1899; Annie, born July 13, 1 902; Emmlla, born April 9, 1905; Elizabeth, born May 17, 1907; and Mabe l, born October 9, 1909. Mr. and Berglmans are members of St. John's Catho lic Church of Little Chute. He is interested in educational matters, and h as been a member of the school board for the past two years.

Obituary:
George H. Weyenberg 73, Little Chute, a member of the village board died Wednesday evening after a nine week illness. He served as Treasurer of board for 40 years and also operated a grocery store in Little Chute for 45 years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harry Valentyne, Kimberly; three sons, Henry, Florian and George, all of Little Chute; three brothers, Peter, Martin and Frank, all of Little Chute ; five sisters, Mrs. Charles Myerla, Holbrook, Neb. Mrs. Richard Peters, Kalamazoo, Mi. Mrs. Floyd Kessler, Appleton, Mrs. Lena Lucassen and Mrs. George VandenHeuvel both of Little Chute and 13 grandchildren.
George opened the first Grocery store in Little Chute. Weyenberg Grocery in Main street in 1912. The store was not only a grocery but also a meeting place for all the people from the village. They also had a gas pump in front of the store. The children of George and Mayme also helped out in the store. They also had a dog, Sport, who also was the mascotte of the store. In bad times, the customers could pay with strawberrys, eggs or potatoes. During the depression George helped a lot of people, some times people came in crying that they had no money to buy food, and these people never left empty-handed. They got potatoes, macaroni, sugar etc. George also gave out loans, and often they weren't paid back. During prohibition he sold sugar to the bootleggers, and made good money with it. George's sons ran the store later, until approx.1959.

He married the former Rita Marjorie Moser May 10, 1938, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death February 2, 1999. He and his wife, Rita, owned and operated Bergman's Grocery Store in Two Rivers and the Steiners Corners Tavern for many years. He was also employed by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company for 31 years as head steel repair man. Mr. Bergman was a member of the Catholic Knights and the Knights of Columbus Mishicot-Tisch Mills Council 4807. He enjoyed many hobbies. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jerry Graycarek, Mishicot; Judie and Tom Lehman, Minocqua; six grandchildren, Wendy and Doug Novak, Green Bay; Rick Graycarek, Kentucky; Traci and Curt Weis, Burlington, Wisconsin; Kelly and Dan Duhamell, Missouri; Robyn and Jeff Fidler, Francis Creek; Crystal and Eric Heideman, Nebraska; nine great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel VanDenBroek, Kimberly; Margaret VanOss, Kimberly; a sister- in-law, Ruth Huss, Freedom; nieces, nephews and many special friends. The Rev.J.Sprangers officiated. The attendents we re Miss Rose Weyenberg, a sister of the groom, and Willard Van Den Heuve l, cousin of the bride. The bride was gowned in a pretty white Canton cre pe dress with a veil and carried a bouquet of roses. The bridesmaid was go wned in a pretty pink crepe gown and carried a bouquet of pink carnatio ns. About 100 couples were present and a delicious wedding dinner and sup per was served. In the evening a barn cance was indulged in and young a nd old enjoyed themselves.

He was employed at the Kimberly Clark Corp. Kimberly un til his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, a memb er of the Jacob's Coppus Legion Post #258 a member of the Golden Agergs a nd a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a World War I Veteran. He was bo rn in the Town of Vandenbroek on December 20, 1906; son of the late Theodo re and Georgiana (Jansen) Weyenberg. On September 16, 1936 he married Loui se Seegers in Darboy. She preceded him in death in 1946. He then married V irginia Kortz on November 27, 1948. They enjoyed over 50 years together a nd celebrated their golden anniversary in 1998. Matt worked at Thilmany Pu lp and Paper for seventeen years. He then operated a dairy farm in the To wn of Vandenbroek until his retirement in 1961. When he first operated t he farm he raised bees and made his own honey. Following his retiremen t, he continued living at the farm. Henry Weyenberg, age 98, Little Chute, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Parkside Care Center, surrounded by his loving family. Hank was born March15, 1914, in the Town of VandenBroek, son of the late Theodore and Georgianna (Jansen) Weyenberg. He married Florence (Bloy) Weyenberg on April 25, 1936, sharing 63 years of marriage until her death in December 1999. Their only son Roman A. Weyenberg also preceded Hank in death on August 6, 2006. Hank was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was employed by Kimberly Clark Corp. as a painter and in field service until his retirement in 1977. Hank enjoyed many years of retirement building his home in Little Chute using the many trades he learned throughout the years and sharing those talents with family and friends. Grandpa will be remembered for playing volleyball, marble game, sheepshead and swimming at their home on Lake Poygan. All of us will cherish the memories made annually at his birthday celebration at Van Abels in Hollandtown. We will miss our Grandpa!
Survivors include his seven grandchildren: Ken (Wendy) Weyenberg, Ted (Cindy) Weyenberg, Roman Weyenberg Jr., Sandy (Don) Miller, Gary Weyenberg, Terry Cotter, Sally Holzwarth; 14 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Jean (Hooyman) Weyenberg; sisters-in-law: Mabel DeGraves and Margaret Gresel; brothers- in-law: Leonard (Shirley) Bloy and Adolph (Charlotte) Bloy Jr.; many nieces and nephews and special godchildren.

Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass.
A memorial has been established in Henry's name.

Obituary:
Marie A. Huiting, 103, Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. Paul Home. She was born on May 12, 1908, in Kaukauna, to the late Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. Marie married Joseph Huiting on Aug. 16, 1932, in Little Chute. In 1946, they moved to Reedsville where they owned and operated Huiting Electric until Joe's death on Dec. 6, 1956. After Joe's death, Marie worked as an assistant cook at the Reedsville High School, leaving to care for her father in Little Chute for 10 years. She then worked as a housekeeper at North Shore Golf Club. Marie was a longtime member at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She most recently attended Holy Name Church in Kimberly. Marie was an avid crafter, enjoying knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren. Many will remember her for love of playing cards and her stories and jokes. Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Robert Huiting, Green Bay; daughter, Mary (Gene) Gauthier, Oshkosh; son-in-law, Edgar Nate, Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister, Rosella Van Dyke, Kaukauna; brother-in-law, Theodore (Jule) Huiting, Little Chute; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Elaine Nate; son-in-law, Alois Linsmeier; daughter-in-law, Shirley Huiting; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Cyril Bongers (infant) and Joseph Bongers and two sisters, Catherine Schumacher and Lucina Jansen.
The funeral liturgy for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, 400 E. Kimberly Avenue. Fr. David Beaudry will be officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Reedsville. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

Obituary:
Catherine J. Schumacher, age 99, formerly of Kimberly, passed away Monday evening, April 6, 2009, at St. Paul Home. Catherine was born March 1, 1910, in Little Chute, to Henry and Nellie (Bergman) Bongers. On June 24, 1933, she was united in marriage to the late Martin H. Schumacher at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Martin preceded her in death on June 24, 1947.
For 25 years Catherine worked at Paul Wydeven Insurance as a secretary. She was a faithful member at Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a past Chief Ranger.
Catherine is survived by her four children: Eleanor De Koch, Gerald (Mary) Schumacher, both of Kimberly, Kenneth (Sarah) Schumacher, Onalaska, WI, Dennis (Judy) Schumacher, Hiles, WI; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchild; two sisters: Marie Huiting and Rosella Van Dyke, both of Kaukauna; two brothers: Orville Bongers, Little Chute, and Bernard Bongers, Appleton; sister-in-law: Evelyn Bongers, Kimberly; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Martin, Catherine is preceded in death by her son-in-law: Charles De Koch; her sister: Lucina Jansen; two brothers, Cyril and Joseph Bongers; three sisters-in-law: Helen, Wilma, and Barbara Bongers; three brothers-in-law: Joseph Huiting, Emil Van Dyke, and Nick Jansen; one daughter-in-law: Susan Schumacher; a grandson; a great-grandson; and many other Schumacher family members.
A Funeral Liturgy for Catherine will be held 12 noon, Monday, April 13, 2009, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Fr. David Beaudry will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Catherine's name.

Rosella P. Van Dyke, formerly of Kimberly, age 99, died Monday May 7, 2012 at the St. Paul Home. She was born on Little Chute on April 29, 1913 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Rosella married Emil Van Dyke on August 21, 1935 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1978. Rosella enjoyed playing bingo and socializing during the St. Paul Home's happy hour and the monthly dinner outings. She also liked to read, knit, crochet and play in her neighborhood monthly card club.

Age 87, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, d ue to complications with kidney disease and diabetes. Lucina was born M ay 9, 1914, in Little Chute to the late Henry W. and Nellie (Bergman) Bong ers. She married Nicholas J. Jansen August 23, 1937, at St. John Cathol ic Church in Little Chute and they resided in Little Chute their entire ma rried life.
She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society, the Catholic Order of Fores ters and the Mission Club, with whom she made many beautiful rosaries. S he loved to play cards, especially sheepshead. She enjoyed fishing with h er family while vacationing in the North during the summer. She was bless ed with creativity which she expressed through many different crafts and n eedlework. Her singing voice was beautiful, although she chose to sing mos tly when she thought no one was listening. Her cooking was excellent and s he appreciated sharing a meal someone else had cooked by saying "It was ju st as good as if you would have fussed." In their earlier years, she and N ick shared many wonderful times square-dancing with friends and were membe rs of the "Village Squares." In more recent years, they enjoyed trips thro ughout the United States. Favorite times were those spent with her fami ly where she would always acknowledge as she left, "I had a good time at y our party." She loved the Green Bay Packers.

Orville enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, completed Officer's Candidate School, served on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and the Army Reserve until 1952. He attained the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corp.

Obituary:
Orville J. Bongers, Little Chute, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the age of 95 with his loving family at his side. Orville was born March 12, 1916, in Little Chute, to the late Henry W. and Petronella Bongers, one of eight children. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary in 1931, and graduated from St. John High School in 1933. Orville enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, completed Officer's Candidate School, served on active duty from 1942 to 1946 and the Army Reserve until 1952. He attained the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corp. In 1944, he married Barbara Hammen, high school classmate and love of his life, and together they raised their family of five children. They opened their home to Barbara's sisters, Elizabeth and Jane in 1952, and for many years this "family of nine" shared a great deal of love and fun together. Orville worked 40 years for Kimberly-Clark as an instrument technician/foreman, and retired in 1976 to spend more time with his family, his golf game, Sheephead and fighting the "battle of the weeds" in his lawn. He was a lifelong member of St. John Church and a man of great faith. In addition to serving on the St. John Parish Council and School Board, he ushered, lectured, and was a co-founder and first appointed president of the St. John Athletic Association. Years later he was indeed proud to be inducted into the Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Athletics were a large part of who Orville was. He played for the Northern States Traveling Baseball League in his younger years, refereed many high school and college basketball games in the area and only gave up working on his golf game when his arthritic ankles would not allow it. Orville was a proud member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, serving as its Post Commander in 1952. He also belonged to the Quarter Century Club and Atlas Management Club at Kimberly-Clark.
Those who knew Orville knew him to be a man of principle, a man of old-fashioned honor with an insatiable appetite for reading novels, newspapers, sports magazines, and anything he could get his hands on. He loved a good prank, funny joke, or hearing a good story, and always had one of his own to share. Orville was real-life hero to his family - the kind of man/person you wanted to be like someday. He loved everyone always, and we loved him back. This wonderful man died with a smile on his face and fulfillment in his heart. He had done his best to be the kind of husband, father and friend we could be proud of and knew he "gave it everything he had."
Orville is survived by his children, Charles J. (Joyce) Bongers, Grand Chute; Ellen (Philip) Vanderhyden Jr., Menasha; Janet (Jack) Kruse, Sherwood; Anne (Jeff) Weiland, Appleton; and Stephen (Deb) Bongers, Grand Chute. Grandchildren, Christopher and Leanne Bongers, Elizabeth (Joseph) Franzoi, Philip III and John Vanderhyden, Andrew (Laura) Kruse, Anne (Matt) Lautz, Bradley Kruse, Neil (Jessica) Weiland, Laura (Owen) Yaklin, Pam (Travis) Lowe, Leah (John) Van Rooy, and Kale, Quinn and Nicholas Bongers. Great-grandchildren, Drew and Bryn Korth, Alexandra and Theodore Kruse, Nolan Lautz, Katie, Claire and Nora Weiland, and Sara Yaklin. He was also looking forward to the arrival of four additional great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by his siblings, Bernard "Beany" Bongers and Rosella Van Dyke; brother and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bongers, Grace Hoffman, Marian Vanden Heuvel, Gordon (Margy) Hammen, Josephine Hammen, Betty Hammen and Jane Hammen. He had four very special godchildren, MaryBeth Wilson, Mike Bongers, Paula Huiting and Barbara Stave; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. You each held a most treasured spot in his heart.
In addition to his beloved wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julie Kruse; siblings, Joseph and Cyril Bongers, Lucina (Nick) Jansen, Catherine (Martin) Schumacher, Marie (Joseph) Huiting; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emil Van Dyke, Roger Hammen, Eugene Hammen, Carl Hammen, Dr. E.J. Bernard "Beany" Bongers, Little Chute, age 94, died Thursday January 17, 2013 at Brewster Village. He was born in Little Chute on May 18, 1918 to the late Henry and Petronella (Bergman) Bongers. Beany married Helen Gertrude Orth at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on April 26, 1941 where he was a lifelong member. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1983. He married Wilma Losselyong in January 25, 1986. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2002. Beany served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a 65 year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. Athletics were very important to him. Beany served as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for St. John High School Varsity Basketball and Football teams for several years. He was a member of the St. John Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and belonged the to Fox Valley and Ridgeway golf clubs. Beany was the President of the Bank of Little Chute until his retirement in June, 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Forestors and Little Chute Fire Department.

She was born March 14, 1938, in Appleton, daughter of the late John A. and Alvina C. (Vanderloop) Bergman. She married James A. Cotter Sr. November 28, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. Before retirement, Mary worked at Mark Travel and Guaranty Bank in Glendale, Sentry Foods in Milwaukee and Appleton, and Kimberly-Clark, Neenah. She did volunteer tax advising for seniors and church activities, she enjoyed playing cards monthly with a group of girlhood friends for over 50 years, and was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Greenville.
She is survived by husband James A. Sr., of Greenville; children: Colleen (Peter) McGinty, London, England, Cheryl "Cheri" (Steven) Treutel, West Bend, Catherine (Milos) Brablec, Arlington Heights, IL, James A. II (Mary Borgren), Greenville, and John A. (Shanda), St. Charles, IL; 13 grandchildren: Lauren (Troy) Olson, Amy and Jennifer Treutel, James A. Mabel M. (Bloy) DeGrave, 98, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Friday, April 29, 2016 into the arms of her Lord. She was born December 26, 1917 to Henry and Mathilda Bergman in Kaukauna. She started her employment at Uneeda Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Appleton and later at Montgomery Ward and Prange's in Green Bay. Our Mom was a feisty little red-haired lady who did not hesitate to give you her opinion. We are convinced that her great spirit and zest for life contributed to her long life.
Mabel loved shopping, gardening and flowers, going to the lake and fishing with our Dad, playing cards and bingo, and did we mention shopping? She was always dressed well and loved her jewelry.
Above all, she loved and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren. She married our Dad, Donald J. Bloy, at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute on Sept. 2, 1939 and he passed away in 1986.
Mabel is survived by her four children, Harlan (Ruth) Bloy, Janet Laes, Barbara (Ben) Cruz-Uribe, Bonnie (Stan) Waslowski; eight grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Proebsting, Kristine (Brian) Finell, Beth (Red) Rogge, Eric (Kelli) Laes, Lara Cruz-Uribe, Justin (Kim) Cruz-Uribe, Karen (Rob) Gitlewski, Kathy Waslowski and her special friend, Tim; eight great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Doucette; a step-grandson, Greg Deatherage; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Obituary:
Joseph Hietpas, 93, formerly of Little Chute, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at St. Paul Villa where he resided the past 2 years. He was born September 5, 1915, in Little Chute, son of John and Mary (Weyenberg) Hietpas. Joe attended St. John Grade and High Schools and then went on to one year of business college. He was employed at Kimberly-Clark Corp. for 38 years. Joe enjoyed and was active in amateur plays and musicals during the 1930s, 40s & 50s. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served aboard the cruiser U.S. Birmingham which was a part of Admiral Halsey's 3rd fleet in the Pacific Ocean. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. During the 1950's Joe sang for weddings for a number of years. He also sang with the barbershoppers and with St. John's adult choir for many years. He sang for funerals for more than 25 years. Joe was a member and past commander of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute, since World War II. Many of these years in the Legion he was a part of the firing squad for military funerals. He enjoyed golfing for more than 40 years and was a member of Fox Valley Golf Course. He was a director of the Bank of Little Chute for 22 years and was on the board of directors for St. John Cemetery Association for many years. He planted many trees in the cemetery over the years and took pride in keeping the roads and trees in good condition. For many years he kept records of military veterans as they passed away making sure they were added to the list to receive an American flag on their grave each Memorial Day.
Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Albert, Frank and Angie; Sylvester and Rosella; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and Ted VandenHeuvel, Sophia and Ted Huiting, Susan and Henry Kamps, Genevieve and Barney Lamers, and Della and Ervin Haessly.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. Monday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by members of Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joseph's name.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to St. Paul Villa and St. Paul Hospice Services and Staff along with Dr. Brian Scott for their loving care and compassion for Joe.

Alice Olson, 101, Little Chute, died at Care Partners Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007. She was born Oct. 14, 1905, in Little Chute, daughter of Theodore and Helena (Weyenberg) Lucassen. Alice married John "Jack" Olson and he preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1952. Mrs. Olson was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was employed at Tuttle Press, Appleton, and the Little Chute Five and Dime. Alice enjoyed following her grandchildren in their sporting events.
Alice is survived by a son, Thomas (Karen) Olson, Combined Locks; three grandchildren, Eric (Marsha), Appleton; Brad (Megan), Denver, Colo.; Greg (Courtney) Olson, Germany; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Brecken Olson; two sisters, Barbara Mueller, Pickerel Lake; Rosemary Loiselle, Kimberly; sister-in-law, Elverta Olson, Hilbert; many special nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, William, Henry, Angela, Emma, Henry, Margaret and Norbert.
