    Cuene, Wilfred J. "Bill" Wilfred J. "Bill" Cuene, 93, De Pere, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1910, in De Pere, son of the late Frank and Hattie (Van Dyke) Cuene. He married Marion Noonan, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1998. He was owner/manager of Ralph's Tire Service and a Coast-to-Coast Store until his health forced him to slow down. He sold new and used cars for Broadway Chevrolet-Olds with his brother, Herb, for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Suamico on the river and his home in De Pere on the Fox River, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and gardening, and took great pride in his home and yard. After he retired he especially enjoyed woodworking in his garage. He truly loved his family. Wilfred was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in De Pere. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire, Green Bay; and Virginia "Ginny" and Pat Dwyer, Green Bay; two sons, Don and Evelyn Cuene, Green Bay; and William "Bill" and Kathy Cuene, De Pere; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; son-in-law, Roland McGuire; two granddaughters, Judy and Karen Jean; six brothers, John, Joe, Herb, Leo, Norbert, and Hugo; and three sisters, Marie Bertrand, Agatha Burdon, and Anne Thompson. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 18, 2004, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Visitation will c ontinue on Monday, July 19, 2004, from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Ave., De Pere. Ma ss of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at church, with the Rev. V. Anthony Dolski officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. The family extends a special thanks to St. Vincent Hospital, Renaissance, San Luis Nursing Home, especially therapist, Laura Miller at San Luis, for all the wonderful care and support, and also to Wally Charles for his close, personal friendship.

    On Sunday, January 31, 2016, Donald Eugene Cuene, son of Marion (Noonan) and Wilfred "Bill" Cuene, embarked on his last journey. He was born on May 4, 1927 and spent the majority of his life in Green Bay. Don attended Central Catholic High School, Class of 1945, but left to join the Navy, serving in the amphibious forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Green Bay in June, 1946, met and married Evelyn Brunette and they've been together for 68 years.
    Don loved airplanes and flying, and soloed at age 16. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, but circumstances brought him back to Green Bay in 1948. Don was a member of the Air Force Reserve and served a year at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Green Bay, he joined the Green Bay Police Department in November, 1951 and served 34 ½ years as a police officer. He retired from the department as Chief in 1985.
    Don enjoyed challenges and learning. He was an accomplished pilot, sailor, photographer, and target shooter. Don and Evie were world travelers, first in their RV and, after wearing it out, continued with cruises and tours. He loved his computer and was on his fifth one. Don also loved music, especially contemporary jazz. He was one of the founding members of the Windjammers Sailing Club, racing the "Light Breeze" with son, Tom, and cruising the Bay and upper areas of the Great Lakes with his family. Don was instrumental in establishing a rifle and pistol range at the De Pere Sportsman's Club. He belonged to the Brown County Sportsman's Club and the Nicolet Rifle Club.
    Work-wise, Don was active with the Green Bay Police Benevolent for many years served on the Governor's Retirement Study Commission and was on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Police Benevolent Association, serving a term as President. He, along with a few other police target shooters, formed the Fox Valley Pistol Club and held competitions at cities throughout the region. As juvenile Police Captain, he brought the School Liaison Program to Green Bay. On July 7, 1977, Don was sworn in as Chief of the Green Bay Police Department. He loved the department and all of his officers and staff.
    Don is survived by his wife, Evie and their three children, Tom (Carol), Pam (Mike) Baeten and Frank. He is also survived by two wonderful grandsons: Justin (Stefanie) Cuene, Arizona; and Tristan Cuene (friend, Laura), Colorado; two darling great-grandchildren, Sofia and Miles, Arizona; his brother, William "Bill"; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; Evie's sister-in-law, Norma Brunette, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
    Preceding him in death were his parents, parents-in-law, Clarence and Irene Brunette; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire and Virginia "Ginny" Dwyer; brother-in-law, Rollie McGuire; sister-in-law, Kathy Cuene; Evie's two brothers, Bob and Duke Brunette, with whom he had a very close relationship; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Brunette and Marion VanderMissen.
    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 4. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Friends may also call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth St. and 12th Ave., from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev.     Margaret C. "Peggy" McGuire, 85, Green Bay, died peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2015. She was born on December 20, 1929, in Green Bay to Mae and Wilfred Cuene. On September 29, 1948, she married Roland P. "Mac" McGuire at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. They had six children. Mac preceded her in death on March 9, 1996.
    Peggy loved spending time at the family cottage in Athelstane. She was particularly proud of the fact that she and Dad built the cottage. We all have many happy memories of family and friend time spent there. Everyone who came burned their name above the fireplace.
    Peggy's hobbies included her keeping up her yard and the many different flowers that she planted. She loved her backyard pond given to her by her boys. Peggy belonged to the same bridge group for over 20 years, and was a proud hockey mom who spent many years taking care of the youth hockey concession stand.
    Peggy is survived by her children: Sharon (Tom) Lutsey, Egg Harbor; Mike McGuire, Waukesha; Maureen Landry and her friend, Ted, Green Bay; Tim (Lynn) McGuire, Townsend; Dave McGuire and his friend, Cindy, Green Bay; and Ted (Sara) McGuire, Green Bay; 15 grandchildren, Matt, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Andrew, Ben, Missy, Jason, Adam, Chad, Eric, Abbie, Justin, Emily, Marc, and Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Tristin, Henry, Simon, and Alexander; her brothers, Bill Cuene, and Don (Evie) Cuene; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac; daughter-in-law, Cathy McGuire; parents, Wilfred and Mae Cuene; stepmother, Marion Cuene; sister, Ginny Dwyer; sister-in-law, Cathy Cuene; and a niece, Judy.
    Friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, October 19. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 19, at the church.
