Mrs. August Stern was surprised by a group of relatives last Tuesday evening at her home on route 4, Seymour in honor of her fifty-ninth birthday anniversary. Those present were August Stern, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stern, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sievert and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sievert and family, Seymour; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Springstroh and family and Mr. and Mrs. Hillard Walburn, Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Gehring, Jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Rehlender, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Springstroh, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schroeder and daughter, Mary Ann, Kaukauna; Mildred Schroeder, Melvin Schroeder, Harold Stern, Wilbert Springstroh and Ervin Springstroh. Games were played, and prizes were won by Mrs. John Rehlender and Mrs. Herman Schroeder.

Mrs. Meta Stern
Family Heritage Nursing Home, Appleton
Formerly of Route 1, Seymour, age 96, died Monday afternoon. She was born December 12, 1880 in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schroeder. She spent most of her life in the Seymour area. She was a member of the Freedom Moravian Church and a charter member of the Womens Fellowship. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Dora Gehring, Route 5, Appleton; Mrs. Ella Springstroh, Appleton; two sons: Harold, Route 1, Seymour; Orvil, Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Stern, Seymour; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Rohm, and a brother, Albert Schroeder, both of Appleton; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Her husband, August, a son Walter, and a granddaughter preceded her in death. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Freedom Moravian Church with the Rev. William P. Meyers officiating. Burial will be in the Freedom Community Cemetery. Friends my call at the Muehl Funeral Home, Seymour, from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. at the church until the time of service.

Springstroh, nee S tern, Ella C.The Lord called Ella home on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Rennes H ealth Center in Appleton at the age of 94. She was born on September 6, 19 12, in Freedom, the daughter of August and Meta (Schroeder) Stern. She mar ried Herbert Springstroh at the Freedom Moravian Church. June 20, 193 4, in Freedom. They were members of St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church and lat er became members of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church in 1947. Herbert preced ed her in death on April 7, 1973. Ella had been a member of the Rivervi ew Alter Guild, Ladies Guild and FVL High School Guild. She spent her li fe being a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and also enjoyed caring f or her flowers, crocheting, crafts, and baking cookies.Ella is survived by three children: Roland (Diana) Springstroh of Lexingto n, NC; Shirley (Lyle) Tews of Fremont; Wayne (Candice) Springstroh of Appl eton; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ervin Springstroh; Marv Springstroh; Ar lene Stark; Erma (Milton) Fisher; Lois Stern; grandchildren: Susan (Perr y) Street; David (Jenny) Springstroh; Todd (Lois) Tews; Kris (Eric) Rut h; Kim (Michael) Novotny; Great Grandchildren: Aaron Bradshaw; Adam and Jo rdan Springstroh; Olivia and Sydney Tews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, three brothers: Walte r, Harold, and Orville Springstroh; and a sister, Dora Gehring.Funeral services will be held at Riverview Ev. Shirley A. Tews, age 77, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on December 13, 1937, in Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Herbert and Ella (Stern) Springstroh. On July 15, 1961, Shirley married Lyle Tews at Riverview Lutheran Church in Appleton. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2008. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Caledonia, where she served on the Ladies Aid and LWML, and was a former choir member and Sunday School teacher. After graduating high school, Shirley began working in the accounting department at Kimberly Clark, and continued working there for 36 years before retiring in 1992. Shirley and Lyle loved to travel and visited many places in the world. She loved collecting recipes and cooking, gardening and doing puzzles of all kinds. Shirley was a special grandma to Olivia and Sydney, they spent endless hours together just having fun. They had a very special place in her heart and her love and care will be forever remembered in their hearts. Shirley is survived by her son, Todd (Lois), Fremont, two granddaughters, Olivia and Sydney; two brothers, Roland (Diana) Springstroh, Lexington, NC and Wayne (Candice) Springstroh, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Lois Hoewisch, Greenville; a brother-in-law, Rollin "Jim" (Diana) Tews, New London; five nieces, five nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Lorenz and Frieda Tews, and a brother-in-law, Walter Hoewisch. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, E9016 March Rd., Fremont. Rev. Doug Reinders will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at the Lewin Funeral Home, from 4-8PM and on Friday , at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Jesus gave Wayne L. Springstroh of Appleton, Wisconsin, the best birthday present ever when he died peacefully on July 28, 2017. He was surrounded by his wife/best friend, Candice, and his loving family.
Wayne was born July 28, 1949, the son of Ella (Stern) and Herbert Springstroh. God, in immeasurable love, welcomed Wayne into His family through baptism soon after. The Springstrohs loved their Savior and raised Wayne both with a Christian education (St. Matthew Lutheran/Fox Valley Lutheran) and with a home filled with prayer, worship, and the good news of God's love for us.
Wayne married Candice Kemper in 1973, which meant the next 43 years would be filled with adventures, laughter, and faith. Wayne worked for Mobile Oil, Proctor & Gamble (account manager), and Fox Valley Lutheran (development director) while Candi faithfully served St. Matthew Lutheran as a grade school teacher for 30 years.
Wayne loved life. He knew 93% of Appleton by name and they knew (and loved) him back. Fellow church members, neighbors, and local golfers all enjoyed his infectious smile and warm handshake.
Wayne loved his family even more. With God's help, he strove to love Candi like Jesus loves us (Ephesians 5:25) and give his daughters, Kris and Kim, a glimpse of their heavenly Father's heart. His sons-in-law, Eric and Mike, witnessed Wayne's generosity, selfless service, and devotion to God and family. Wayne ran the race of faith with perseverance and passed the "baton" of faith to his children and grandchildren. During his final days, his grandchildren would repeat, "God's got this, grandpa!" That assurance came from the promises they heard from Kris and Kim, which they first learned from Wayne and Candi.
After his retirement, Wayne devoted himself to his five favorite passions - family, volunteering, golf, traveling, and Fox News. Frequent trips to Detroit to visit his oldest daughter and her family filled his calendar. Many nights were spent at the Bargain Garden where Wayne devoted his time to help raise funds for teenagers to hear the profound love that God has for the world.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 43 years: Candice, Appleton; and his two daughters: Kris and Eric Ruth, Canton, MI; and Kim and Mike Novotny, Appleton; his four grandchildren: Katelyn and Alex Ruth; Brooklyn and Maya Novotny. He is further survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Roland and Diana Springstroh, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Merl and Cinda Meitner, Dean and Wendy Wiech, Rick and Teri Johnson, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Herbert Springstroh, his in-laws, Howard and Carol Kemper, and his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Lyle Tews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, at 11:00am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, N2740 French Rd., Freedom, with Wayne's son-in-law, Rev. Mike Novotny celebrating the life of Jesus, which gave Wayne's life eternal value. The family will greet friends and relatives Tuesday evening as well as before the Wednesday service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for The CORE, St. Peter Lutheran School, Fox Valley Lutheran, and St. Matthew's Lutheran.

While we greatly grieve Wayne's loss, we believe the presence of God is unimaginably greater than the best moments of this life. We also believe Wayne is experiencing inexpressible joy, not because of the wonderful life he lived, but because of the perfect life that Jesus lived for him.
