    Sept 17, 2014;
    Ray Kaufman Jr.
    Age 81, Appleton passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Rennes Health Care with his family at his side.
    He was born July 1, 1933 to the late Rayburn Sr. and Viola (Janke) Kaufman. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1951 and was a proud member of Club 51. He started driving truck at the age of 18. Ray served in the U.S. Army stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He married Carol Hoelzel on June 23, 1956 in Appleton. Ray started his 48 year trucking career with Northern Transportation and finished with ABF. He was a man that was involved. Ray was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club; Knights of Columbus for over 40 years; City Alderman for 20 years; member of both the Appleton American Legion and VFW; Flag Day Parade committee over 30 years; charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. When he wasn't attending a meeting or driving he enjoyed gardening, planning family vacations and was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. But most important to him were his 3 grandsons. He enjoyed cheering them on at their sporting events and was so proud of all their accomplishments.
    He will be greatly missed by his wife, Carol of 58 years; two sons: Karl (Marian) Kaufman, Appleton and Kevin (Peggy) Kaufman, Appleton; 3 grandsons: Dr. Andrew Kaufman, Michael Kaufman and Tony Kaufman; a brother, Cal (Arlene) Kaufman, WI Rapids; sister, Betty Beyer, Racine and a sister-in-law, Donna Kaufman, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
    Ray was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Tom and sister Joan.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12PM (Noon), Friday, September 19, 2014, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev Thomas Farrell officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may visit the family Friday directly at church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. The family would like to thank the staff of Rennes for compassionate and wonderful care of Ray. Also a special thank you to Dr. James Mariano and Dr. Mary Statsny. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ray's name.
    A Journey's End
    The road behind us is full
    of seeds we've sown.
    The road before us
    contains the unknown.
    Memories are filled
    with things we've shared
    Our lives are touched
    by those who cared.
    Each day make a friend,
    We know not when the journey ends.

    Rayburn married Hoelzel, Carol L. 23 Jun 1956. Carol was born 10 Jul 1934; died 10 Dec 2023. [Group Sheet]
