    Paul A. Kersten "Cuddy" 124 E. Elm St. Combined Locks Age 79, died Friday, August 25, 2000, at Appleton Medical Center following a short illness.
    He was born April 19, 1921, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Cornelius and Anna (Wimberger) Kersten. On May 18, 1946, Paul married the former Rosemary Weyenberg at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks. The couple resided in Combined Locks their entire married lives. Paul was a World War II Army Veteran and had achieved the status of TEC 5. He was employed at Appleton Papers- Combined Locks for 43 years, retiring in 1984. He also helped his son-in-law farm after retirement. Paul had served as assistant fire chief of the Combined Locks Fire Department and fire chief of the Appleton Papers Mill. Paul loved golf and had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and grand and great- grandchildren. Paul was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks, Jacob Coppus Post 258 of the American Legion-Little Chute and the VFW Post 10544- Combined Locks. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosemary, Combined Locks; two daughters and two sons-in- law, Janice (Robert) Schroeder, Appleton; Gail (Joe) Jackels, Kaukauna; six grandchildren, Stefanie (Eric) Herb, Tricia (Vincent) Salvia, Troy Jackels, Tonia (Ben) Van Wychen, Craig and Joe Jackels; seven great- grandchildren. Paul is further survived by four brothers and five sisters-in-law, Gene (Mary) Kersten, Appleton; William (Germaine) Kersten, Tilleda; Francis Kersten, Kaukauna; James (Delores) Kersten, Appleton; Melva Kersten, Arizona; Rita Kersten, Menasha; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen Baier, Milwaukee; Elaine Peotter, Margaret Collins, Lois (Ed) Scharenbroch, Wilma Kersten, all of Kaukauna; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Richard; a sister and brother-in-law, Marion (Joe) Van Cuyk. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m.
    Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks, with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Jacob Coppus Post 258/VFW Post 10544 immediately following services at the church. Friends may call directly at the church from 2 p.m. Monday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
    Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Appleton Medical Center and Fr. Norm Krutzik and Fr. Robert Vandenberg for the care and concern shown Paul.

    She is survived by 6 brothers and sisters: Helen Baier, Milwaukee, Francis Kersten, Lois Scharenbroch, Elaine Peotter, and Margaret Collins, all of Kaukauna, and James (Dolores) Kersten, Appleton; 4 sisters-in-law: Rosemary, Rita, Mary, and Germaine. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers: Henry, Richard, Paul, Eugene, twin brother, Wilbert, and John; a sister, Marion Van Cuyk; 2 brothers-in-law: Joseph Van Cuyk and Edward Scharenbroch, 2 nephews: Richard Kersten, Jr. and David Scharenbroch.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Wilma's name. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. He loved his big cars, dancing to polka music, and playing his trumpet.
    He is survived by his brother, Jim (Dolores) Kersten, 4 sisters: Helen Baier, Louis Scharenbroch, Elaine Peotter, and Margaret Collins; sisters-in-law: Rosemary Kersten and Mary Kersten; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    John A. Kersten, age 55, of Kaukauna, passed away unexpectedly in Appleton, on Sunday, April 19, 2015. John was born on August 5, 1959, in Neenah, to the late Richard and Rita (Schedgick) Kersten. He married his Lover Girl, Cindy, on August 23, 2014.
    John was employed by P.H. Glatfelter for more than 25 years, retiring in 2002. His passion was ice boating. John was the World Champion Ice Boater in 1987, 1988, and 1989 in boats he both designed and built. He also served as Vice-President of the Neenah Ice Yacht Club. His enjoyment of fireworks led him to his Class A Pyrotechnic Technicians License. He designed and was involved with many major pyrotechnic displays in the Valley over the years. Christmas was a favorite time for John and his lighting displays were spectacular and enjoyed by all. In addition to being a well-known woodworker and craftsman, John was a true craftsman and "fixer" of almost anything. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed camping and spending time at Mountain, Wisconsin, but most of all enjoyed the time spent with his family.
    Survivors include his wife, Cindy and beloved dog, Lexie; his children, Melissa (Steve) Jahnke; Pamela Kersten; Diana (Paul) Kersten; and Daniel Kersten; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Patricia (Bob) Salzman, Dianna (Greg) Simon; Nancy (Gene) Lenhardt; Gerard (Margaret) Kersten; Mary (Willy) Schroeder and Joey (Ann) Kersten; his sisters-in-law, Louise Kersten, Penny (Pete) Brockman, Jo (Joe) Pritzl, and Tammy (Mike) Thyssen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Michael and Richard Kersten, and his sisters, Marilyn, Karin and Jacqueline Kersten.
    Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME - TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha, with Pastor Vicki Simon and daughter Melissa officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
