    Mrs. Barbara Bedessen, 93, died Sunday morning at her home at 714 S Cherry-st. She had been a resident of Appleton for the past 43 years. Her husband Michael Bedessen died about 30 years ago. She was a member of Christian Mothers society of the Third Order of St Francis. Members of the order will act as bearers at the funeral.
    Survivors are two daughters, Miss Margaret Bedessen and Mrs. H.A. Kamps, one son, Harry J. Bedessen, fourteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
    The body will lie in state at the Schommer funeral home on W. Washington-st. Funeral services will be held from the Schommer Funeral home at 8:30 Tuesday morning and at 2 o'clock at St. Joseph Catholic church. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery

    Mrs. Katherine Schommer, 57 years old, wife of N. C. Schommer. died at 8:40 o'clock Saturday evening at her home, 981 Seventh street. Mrs. Schommer had been in ill health for a long time and was seriously ill more than two weeks. The decedent was born in Kenosha in 1863 and came to Appleton with her parents about 40 years ago. She was married here in 1884 to Nicholas C. Schommer. Twelve children were born to the couple, of whom nine survive. The daughters are Marie, Mrs. A. J. Hall, Sybil and Margaret, all of Appleton; the sons are Harry P. of Milwaukee; Edgar, Herman and George, Appleton; Raymond, Charleston, S. C.. Besides her husband and children. Mrs. Schommer is also survived by five grandchildren; her mother. Mrs. Barbara Bedessen, Appleton; two sisters, Miss Margaret Bedessen and Mrs. H. A. Kamps, Appleton; one brother, Harry Bedessen. Appleton. The decedent was a member of the Christian Mothers' society of St. Joseph church, and of the Third Order of St. Francis. Funeral services will be held at St Joseph church at ten o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.

    Funeral Concern Associate Dies George M. Schommer, 34, Succumbs to 3 Months' Illness in Appleton George M. Schommer, 34, 330 W. Prospect street, an associate of the Schommer Funeral home for the last 17 years, died at 11:35 this morning in Appleton following a three months' illness. He was born July 5, 1902 in Appleton and lived here all his life He was a licensed embalmer and funeral director and secretary and treasurer of the N. C. Schommer and Sons Funeral Service. Mr. Schommer also was a member of the Holy Name society, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Elks lodge. Schommer, Appleton, and Raymond Schommer, Los Angeles. Calif, and four sisters, Mrs. Ray M. Peeters, Mrs. A. J. Hall and Mrs. Russell J. Ward. Appleton, and Raymond Schommer, Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at the Schommer Funeral home and at 10 o'clock at St Joseph's Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. She was born on July 22, 1912, daughter of the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schommer, in Milwaukee. Addie married Ambrose Lingnowski on July 16, 1938; he preceded her in death on July 21, 1986. She was employed with Wisconsin Tissue Mills for 10? years. Addie was a life-long member of St. John the Baptist. She enjoyed doing needlework, fishing and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
    Addie will be missed by her two sisters: Virginia Lippert, Wauwautosa; Mary (George) Webster, Florida; four sisters-in-law: Jean Schommer, Appleton; Irene Rippl, Menasha; Helen Schuh, Kaukauna; Cecile Lingnowski, Menasha; and a brother-in-law, Richard Lingnowski, Menasha; many nieces and nephews; her cousin, Helen Alferi; and her friends and helpers Sylvester and Rosalie Swederski.

    Appleton & Milwaukee - Virginia "Virgie" M. Lippert, age 101, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Camillus Health Center. She was born to the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schommer on October 29, 1916. Virgie married Cyril B. Lippert on June 28, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and shared 62 years with him until his passing in 2004.
    Virgie was a long time member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and partook in various volunteer activities there and at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. She enjoyed golf, bowling, needlework, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading. Virgie loved spending time with family, especially her grandsons.
    She will be deeply missed by her daughter Nancy (Ignatius) Smetek of Brookfield; grandsons: Dan (fiancé Amber Ellis) of Green Bay and Sam Smetek of Brookfield; sister-in-law Dolores Lippert of Appleton; brother-in-law Jerry (Nancy) Lippert of Huntington Beach, California; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her husband and parents, Virgie is preceded in death by her sisters: Adelaide (Ambrose) Lingnowski, Dorothy (Duane) Raiche and Mary (George) Webster; brothers: Harry (Grace) Schommer and Robert (Jean) Schommer; and brother-in-law Harold (Hildegarde) Lippert.
    The Mass of Resurrection for Virgie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating.     Thomas, E. Schommer, born in Appleton, Wisconsin and moved to Rochester, New York June of 1958, went to be with the Lord at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center on Friday, January 18, 2013, at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothea; parents, Elda (John Palmbach) and George Schommer; two brothers, Richard and Paul. Survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Patrick Wright and Linda and Joseph Chiappone, and his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Deborah; sister, Susan (Walter) Drechsel; sisters-in-law, Nancy and Ione Schommer; three grandchildren, Katherine (Jeremy) Cortash, Stephanie and Matthew Wright; step-granddaughter, Sondra (Mike) LeDuc; several nieces and nephews; and many caring friends.
    Thomas retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986 after 28 years; served his country in the Air Force and Naval Reserves. He was a dedicated community volunteer with many organizations including the Greece Historical Society, Greece Central School Board, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Greece Chamber of Commerce, and WGMC Radio station.
    Thomas's visitation will be held Friday, January 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road; Greece Chapel.     Richard J. "R.J." Kamps, age 83, passed away surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 11, 2012. RJ was born in Appleton on October 26, 1928, to Harold and Virginia (Lally) Kamps. He was one of three in the family, including his sister Virginia "Ginny" and brother Jerry. RJ grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton Senior High School in 1946. He and five high school buddies joined the Army in September of 1946. RJ served in the Army of Occupation in Korea until March of 1948 when he was discharged as a sergeant. He then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1952 with a BS in Economics. RJ was in the sales management field for 41 years. He was active in founding VFW Post 10544 and was its initial Post Commander. RJ leaves many friends. His charismatic personality left a memorable impression on all who had the privilege of meeting him. His luncheon group, the R.O.M.E.O.s (Retired Old Men Eating Out) held special meaning to him. RJ is survived by his wife and best companion, Charlsey Jo "Josie" and four children, Kristi (Nathaniel) Kamps; Michael (Carol) Kamps; Lisa (John) Glaze; and Kathy (Bill) Houston. He is further survived by his stepchildren, John (Maria) Schachner; James (Paula) Schachner; and Susan Swanson. RJ is also survived by his brother Jerry (Annette) Kamps. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick, in 1993 and his sister Ginny in 2007. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2012, at the GRAND MERIDIAN, 2621 N. Oneida Street, Appleton, with Mr. Bill Countney officiating.     Following a courageous battle with lymphoma, Jerome H. Kamps, 85, Beaver Dam, died on May 4, 2015. Jerry was born in Appleton, WI, on January 27, 1930. With an interjection of four years in the Air Force, he graduated from Lawrence University, Appleton WI, in 1956, and received an MFA degree in art education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1963. He began teaching at the Beaver Dam High School in 1957, and retired in 1991.
    He was a charter member and co-founder of the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre and of the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association.
    Jerry is survived by his wife Annette; children, Maureen (Art) Noe, Hartford; Colette (Steve) McLaughlin, Phoenix, AZ; Teresa (Greg) McCulloch, Baraboo; Jeremy Kamps (Trixie and her daughter, Sofia Kioko), Brooklyn, NY; his grandchildren, Jacob and Ryan Lawrence, Virginia and Grace Noe; and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Steven Jerome in 1967; parents, Harold and Virginia (Lally) Kamps; sister, Virginia (James) Groh, and brother, Richard (Josie) Kamps.
    A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam. Father Michael Erwin will serve as celebrant. Immediately following the Mass, a luncheon will be served at Mission Hall. Inurnment will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam at a later date.

    James Henry "Jiggs" Kamps, passed away peacefully in his chair at home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 with his wife by his side. He was born to Ralph and Barbara (Goeser) Kamps of Appleton on June 12, 1927. Jiggs attended Appleton West High School and went on to enlist in the Army. He proudly served his country during WWII. When he returned from Japan he went to work with his Dad as a beer distributor for Kingsbury Beer. He went on to work at Thilmany's until his retirement. James was united in marriage to Mary Lou McGoey on October 6, 1951. They just celebrated 63 years together. Jiggs family was very important to him. He enjoyed family get togethers watching his grandchildren participate in various activities. He was an avid Brewers and Packer fan and never missed a game and kept perfect stats. He also loved the game of cribbage and cherished the time spent playing with his son-in-laws and grandsons.
    Jiggs is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou, two daughters; Kara (Bernie) Hietpas, and Katie (Travis) Kroner, his grandchildren; Chris, Ali and Ben Hietpas, Audrey and Tyler Kamps, Kip and Kamryn Kroner, great grandchildren; Brayden and Charlotte Hietpas. He is further survived by his sisters, Mary Femal and Barbara Mahony, brother-in-law Gary McGoey and sisters-in-law, Norma McGrath and Jean Kamps, as well as many nieces and nephews.
    Jiggs was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin and an infant daughter Mary.
    A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 4:00 PM at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH , 309 Desnoyer St., with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating.     Barbara A. Wichman, 77, Neenah, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah. She was born on April 5, 1937, in Neenah, daughter of Harry and Grace (Allen) Schommer. Barb was united in marriage to Donald Henry Wichman on November 10, 1956. The Lord has a new angel in heaven, so any babies who might end up there are bound to end up in Barb's arms. She was a very loving and loveable person. Though challenged with many medical problems her family and husband (plus all babies) were her pride and joy. Barb and Don were charter members of St. Gabriel Parish, Neenah.

    Mary Frances Kohl, age 68 of Sheboygan, passed away June 3rd, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born February 28, 1949 in Appleton to Daniel and Dorothy Grosser Kamps. Mary was a program supervisor for Sheboygan County Human Services for 26 years before retiring in 2002, prior to that she was employed by Manitowoc Human Services. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, her local book club, and she enjoyed gardening, playing the flute, ballet and shopping.
    Mary is survived by her son Daniel (Andrew Clark) Kohl, one sister, Mary Kay Buck, and four brothers, Ralph Kamps, Jim Vanbommel, Joey Vanbommel and Kurt Vanbommel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Dorothy, her step-father, John Van Bommel, a sister, Karen Kamps,and a brother, Marty Vanbommel.
    A Celebration Of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2104 Geele Ave. Sheboygan with Pastor Kristin Berglund officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the celebration.
    A memorial fund has been established in Mary's name for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or St. Peter Lutheran Church.
    The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Mary's arrangements.
    Mary's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their loving care and support.

    Kevin J. Kamps, Appleton, age 49, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at home. He was born June 13, 1957, in Kaukauna, to James and Mary (McGoey) Kamps. Kevin was a 1975 Kaukauna High School graduate and graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1980, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. He was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a Supervisor of Meat and Food Safety. Kevin enjoyed baseball, football, golf, and NASCAR racing.
    He is survived by his parents: James and Mary Kamps, Appleton; his son, Tyler and daughter, Audrey, both at home; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Kara (Bernie) Hietpas, and their family, Christopher, Alexandria and Benjamin, Kaukauna, and Katie (Travis) Kroner, and their family, Kip and Kamryn, Combined Locks. He is further survived by his children's mother, Amy Basten, Appleton.
    He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary.
    Kevin's Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2007, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for his children's education. 920-766-2099
