    Obituary:
Margaret Zwicker Vandenberg, 90, Appleton, died peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by members of her loving family on April 15, 2011. Margaret was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Appleton, Wis., daughter of the late Walter and Helen Ryan Zwicker. She attended Appleton High School and graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy, Fond du Lac, and Mundelein College, Chicago. She married Paul P. Vandenberg on Aug. 7, 1944. Together they raised eight children. Paul preceded Margy in death on Dec. 18, 2002.
Margy's time of employment outside the home was brief, but she earned the distinction, as librarian, of being the first female employee of St. Norbert College, De Pere. Margy was active in the Appleton community early in their married life, as Girl Scout leader, in King's Daughters and in bridge groups at St. Mary Church and school and eventually at Xavier High School. As her family grew, she devoted herself and her time to making their home a nurturing place for family and friends. We remember her bread, apple pies, chocolate desserts, pot roast and so much more which was always expandable for the unexpected guest. In recent years she cared for us all by naming each one as she prayed the Rosary nightly before she fell asleep.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, where she was baptized, confirmed, married and now will be buried. Margy loved raising her family and taught them to love, respect and enjoy others. She and Paul demonstrated hospitality, kindness and service and she instilled in her children a love of reading and learning.
Margy will be deeply missed by her children, P. Peter (Mary) Vandenberg, Appleton; John (Barbara) Vandenberg, Melbourne, Fla.; Thomas (Karen) Vandenberg, Coral Springs, Fla.; Barbara (Milo) Foster, Sydney, Australia; Richard (Lee) Vandenberg, Germantown, Tenn.; James P. (June) Vandenberg, Appleton; Neil (Pat) Vandenberg, Elmhurst, Ill.; son-in-law, Charles Snyder, Viera, Fla.; and by her 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Margy is survived also by a brother, Walt Zwicker; sister-in-law, Cele Zwicker; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret married Vandenberg, Paul P. 7 Aug 1944. Paul (son of Vandenberg, Cornelius Adrian and VandenHeuvel, Anna) was born 18 Dec 1920, Kimberly, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; died 18 Dec 2002, Appleton, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; was buried Aft 18 Dec 2002, St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. He is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kriesel of Rhinelander, WI, and Mrs. Margaret Vandenberg of Appleton. Tim leaves behind many aunts, uncles: Dick and Dena Kriesel, John and Maggie Kriesel, Phil and Jean Kriesel, Robert Taylor, Dale and Joyce Schreiber, Rick and Cindy Uecker, Peter and Mary Vandenberg, John and Barbara Vandenberg, Charles and Helen Snyder, Milo and Barbara Foster, Tom and Karen Vandenberg, Dick and Lee Vandenberg, and Neal and Pat Vandenberg; and 36 cousins.
We will always remember Tim and his love of country music, watching "Little House on the Prairie," his great impressions, and how he loved to dance!
Tim resided at the Roads to Freedom Group Home in Brillion for 13 years. While there he made many friendships. The family wishes to thank all of the people who work in group homes who love and care for individuals like Tim. Thank you to Tim's very special caregiver, Judy Bohrtz and her family who loved him like he was a member of their family.
A memorial service for Tim will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 7, at Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church, 136 W. Seymour St., Appleton, with the Rev. Dennis W. Belter officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in Tim's name.
