    Biography:
    JOHN REGENFUSS, proprietor of Regenfuss Brewing Company, and one of the well known business men of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, was born in Washington county, Wisconsin, August 12, 1859, and is a son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Rossbach) Regenfuss, natives of Germany who came to the United States in 1843 and located near Milwaukee. Jacob Regenfuss was a farmer in the vicinity of Milwaukee during forty-five years, and is now living retired at the home of his son, John, in Kaukauna, where his wife died January 19, 1911. They had a family of fifteen children, of whom seven are now living. John Regenfuss had his early educational training in the schools of Milwaukee, and graduated from the Commercial College at that city, later attending the Brewing Academy. In 1879 he located in Appleton, and for seven years conducted the Northwestern House, then becoming connected with Walter Brothers Brewing Company, with which he was engaged eleven years. In 1906, Mr. Regenfuss came to Kaukauna and established himself in business as proprietor of Regenfuss Brewing Company, which he bought from Peter Helf. This company has a capacity of 8,000 barrels of beer annually, employs eight men, and has a building 40x80 feet, two stories in height and composed of brick. The beer produced is the well known "Standard" brand, which is handled all over Kaukauna and Appleton. Mr. Regenfuss was married in 1881, to Mary M. Heinz of Appleton, daughter of Lambert and Anna Heinz. Mr. Regenfuss' family consists of nine children, of whom one is deceased. They are members of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and Mr. Regenfuss is a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Catholic Knights. While a resident of Menasha, Wisconsin, Mr. Regenfuss served one term as alderman, and later he was given the honor of having his name put before the convention for the office of sheriff of Outagamie county, but owing to political conditions at that time he was defeated by but six votes. Lambert Heinz and his wife Anna, the parents of Mrs. Regenfuss, were natives of Belgium. They came to Appleton in 1862, and were among the old settlers of that city.

    John Regenfuss Dies at Kaukauna President of Brewing Company Succumbs After Long Illness John Regenfuss, 73, president of Regenfuss Brewing Co., Kaukauna, and former Wisconsin hotel man, died at 4:30 this morning at his home, 716 Desnoyer-st, Kaukauna, following an illness of three years. Mr. Regenfuss, active in the Brewing company up to the time of his death, came to Kaukauna 26 years ago when he established the business. He was born in Germantown, -Washington-co. His early business associations were as a hotel man, being proprietor of the old Northwestern House in Appleton for several years, the Raabs hotel in Milwaukee for a short time, and the Island House in Menasha. While in Menasha Mr. Regenfuss became connected with the Walter Brewing Co., a brewing firm with which he was active for 12 years, later coming to Kaukauna. Survivors are: The widow; six daughters, Marie at home, Mrs. E. J. Krautkramer, Wrightstown, Mrs. Joseph Benotch, and Mrs. John Haen, Kaukauna, Mrs. Elsie Fadner, Milwaukee, Mrs. J. C. Ritten, Appleton; two sons, Robert, Milwaukee, Leo, Kaukauna; four brothers, the Rev. George Regenfuss, St. Francis Seminary, Charles and Matt, Milwaukee, Jacob, Kaukauna; one sister, Mrs. Charles Reitzner, Appleton; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at Holy Cross Catholic church, Kaukauna, with the Rev. George Regenfuss in charge. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Kaukauna.

    Marie J. Roome, Kaukauna, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Atrium Post-Acute Care of Little Chute. She was born July 11, 1914 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Leo and Barbara (Hallada) Regenfuss. Marie was a 1933 Kaukauna High School Graduate. In 1936 she married LaVerne C. Roome, he preceded her in death on February 16, 1983. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, volunteering in the Queen of Peace Choir, serving funeral dinners, and hospitality greetings; her church was important to her. Marie was also an avid volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul and the environmental center.
    She is survived by her son, Jack (Mariko) Roome, Alexandria, VA; 2 daughters: Carolyn Gritt, Kaukauna and Shirley Cordes, Riverside, CA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, one brother and sister-in-law: Joseph (Carol) and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Herb) Vander Bloomen.
    Funeral Services for Marie will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Holy Cross Catholic Church.     Margaret M. Bergman, Little Chute, age 91, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Appleton Health Care Center. She was born January 27, 1918, in Appleton to the late Joseph and Anna (Regenfuss) Benotch. She married John P. Bergman at Holy Cross Parish in Kaukauna on June 11, 1940. He preceded her in death September 3, 1997. Margaret was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Her greatest pride was her family and she cherished time spent with her family and friends.
    Margaret is survived by her daughters: Nancy (Butch) Miller, Little Chute; JoAnn (Norbert) Fox, Little Chute; Sandy Walker, Kimberly; and Mary (David) Arnoldussen, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Terri (Dan Locy) Nelson, Sue (Gary) Keen, Bob (Roberta) Miller, Craig and Scott (Penny) Fox, Chris (Jeff) Hooyman, Ed (Kay) and Sara Walker, Dean (Coralie), Adam (Brenda) and Nick (Erika) Arnoldussen; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Millie (Robert) Krueger and Alice Benotch. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her grandson, Kristopher Keen; son-in-law, Charles Walker; and siblings: Mary Janssen and Joey Benotch.
    Visitation will be held at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) Thursday October 1, 2009, beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of Mass at 5 p.m. Committal St. John Cemetery.

    Mildred "Millie" Krueger, age 95, of Winneconne died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born July 14, 1920, in Kaukauna to the late Joseph and Anna (Regunfeuss) Benotch.
    In November 1956 Millie married Robert Krueger. She had a love for people and being a caregiver and it showed in the many things she did which included: running the Winneconne Community Walk-In Center, serving as president of the local United Way, working with the Winnebago County Housing Authority, being an active member of the Winneconne Civic League, and serving on the election board. One year these many endeavors earned her the annual Sovereign State fireworks display in her name. Millie enjoyed gardening, putting together puzzles, and playing Scrabble, but she truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winneconne.
    Millie was loved by all who knew her and will be especially missed by her husband of 59 years, Robert Krueger; four children, Jerry (Rita) Cottrell, Mary Holtz, Donna (John) Ziebell, Scott (Jodi) Krueger; grandchildren, Steve (Lynda) Cottrell, Jeff (Nan) Cottrell, Robbi (Marty) Brethouwer, Julie Studtmann, Kristi (Mark) Anderson, Melissa Holtz (fiancé, Jon Meinen), Martha (Dennis) Sullivan, Rachel Neutzling, David Ziebell, Mason (Alison) Krueger, Breinne Krueger; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Calvin, Austin, Kevin, Baylee, Michael, Emma, Sophia, Sydney, Keller, Cooper, Piper, Brady, Andrew, Jack, Molly, Maggie, and Lia Millie; and nieces, special neighbors, and friends.
    Along with her parents, Millie was also preceded in death by a son, Tom; one brother; four sisters; and a son-in-law, Robert Holtz.
    A visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, March 21, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church 210 Pleasant Dr. Winneconne. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Edward Looney and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Winneconne Cemetery.
    A memorial will be established.

    Benotch, Alice May
    Alice May Benotch, 83, formerly of Kaukauna, entered into Eternal Life on February 13, 2010. Alice was born on April 14, 1926, in Kaukauna to the late Joseph and Anna (Regenfuss) Benotch. She acted as a nanny to Bill and Kathy, children of Beverly Pennings in Green Bay. Alice May enjoyed fishing, country and western music and western movies, and preparing meals of her famous hamburgers for her many nieces and nephews. All of Alice's family considered her meals a special treat and were looked forward to.
    Survivors include her sister, Mildred (Robert) Krueger, Winneconne; her nieces and nephews, Jerry (Rita) Cottrell, Mary Holtz, Donna (John) Ziebell, Scott (Jodi) Krueger, Nancy (Butch) Miller, JoAnn (Nub) Fox, Sandy Walker, Mary (David) Arnoldussen, Vicky Beyer, Pam (Mike) Wiegert, Kitty Peeters and Jacki Murrillo; and Alice's special friend and caregiver Beverly Pennings.
    She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary (Ray) Jansen, Margaret M. (John) Bergman; and her brother, Joey Benotch.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 18, 2010, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.

    Michael C. Helms, age 44, of Little Chute, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wed., May 23, 2012. Mike is survived by his children, Ashley Helms, Caleb Helms, Whitney Helms and Gabriel Helms and their mother, Lori Helms; his father, Steven Helms and his siblings, Eric (Marcy) Helms, Marne Helms, Matt Helms and Chelse Helms. Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a talented artist. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson and enjoyed spending time with his children, pets and family. Mike will be greatly missed and always loved. A funeral service for Mike will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park's Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton followed by full military honors.
