Verbeten, Clement A., Litt le ChuteAge 89, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at Franciscan Care Center, Appleto n. He was born April 17, 1914 in Wrightstown, Wisconsin the son of Corneli us and Isabelle (Lamers) Verbeten. Clem married Rosella Schampers May 1 9, 1936 at St. John Catholic Church, in Little Chute, she preceded h im in death on September 7, 2001. Together they owned and operated Clem a nd Rose' s Bar in Little Chute. Clem loved entertaining at his taver n. He was known for the Friday evening jukebox parties he hosted and the S aturday and Sunday cribbage tournaments he held. Clem was a devoted memb er of St. John Catholic Church where he sang in the Resurrection Choir a nd at many weddings. He loved to play cribbage and spend time with his bel oved family.Mr. Verbeten is survived by a son, Gerry (Elizabeth) Verbeten, Libertyvill e, IL; a daughter, Mary (Thomas) Schmidt, Darboy; five grandchildren: Timo thy (Dana) Verbeten, Daniel Verbeten, Emily, Alison and Nicholas Schmid t; a great-grandchild, Morgan Verbeten; a sister, Lillian Ruchdashel, N ew London; a half-sister, Mary Burris, South Carolina; a special niece, De bbie Schampers, Milwaukee; many other relatives and special friends. He w as preceded in death by two brothers: Vincent, William (Colletta) Verbete n; a sister, Ardina (Martin) VanGompel; three half brothers: Robert, Benja min and Charles Verbeten.Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday July 23, 2003 at St. Paul Cathol ic Church, Combined Locks with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiatin g. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may ca ll at the church Wednesday 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a mem orial has been established.The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff at Franciscan Ca re Center for their tremendous care they gave our father.Dad, We will miss your sense of humor, your compoassion for people, your l ove of music, and the love you have shown to all of us, especially the gra ndchildren.
