Obituary:
Gerald H. "Jerry" Salentine, age 81, of Appleton, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah after a brief illness. He was born on February 11, 1934 in Appleton to the late Clemens and Rose (Meiers) Salentine. In December 1956, he joined the U.S. Army, and served for two years. He then came back to Appleton where he began working at Appleton Juvenile Furniture, where he met Jane Dreger, they were married on May 2, 1959. Jerry worked by Riverside Papers for several years until his retirement. Together with his wife, he volunteered at St. Josephs for 18 years, right up until he became ill only a week ago. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his father and mother in law, Otto and Margaret (Paschen) Dreger, his brother, Carl (Ella) Salentine and brother in law, Robert (Dorothy) Dreger.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home, with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4:00pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park
