    Obituary:
    William G. Dougherty, age 79, died Monday evening following a battle wi th cancer. He was born January 5, 1926, to the late Robert and Helen (Meye rs) Dougherty, in Appleton, where he was a resident most of his life. Bi ll served with the U. S. Navy, as a chef, during World War II. Following h is discharge he met Janice Stead, they shared 54 years together. Bill h ad been employed as a butcher and as chef at various restaurants in the ar ea. In 1967 he opened Chef Bill's Supper Club, now Mark's Eastside, whi ch he operated for 20 years. Bill loved to participate in games of chanc e, entertaining and cooking for friends, he also enjoyed small engine repa ir, hunting and boating. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church a nd was a member and helped to establish his local chapter of the Wiscons in Restaurant Association. Bill is survived by four children: Dave "Duffy" Dougherty and his fiance e, Carol Tuoto, Seminole, FL; Judy and Rick Simon, Appleton; Linda and T om Kuchenbecker, Stevens Point; Mark and Lori Dougherty, Appleton; seven g randchildren: Dawn (Bill) Ebert, Scott Simon, Curt (Jenny) Simon, Nicole ( Richard) Klemme, Sarah Kuchenbecker, Will and Riley Dougherty; three gre at grandchildren: Connor Simon, Caitlin Simon and Tommy Klemme, a brothe r, Russell Dougherty, Wisconsin Rapids and Florida; a sister, Betty Smit h, Neenah; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Don) Slusarski, Stevens Point; ni eces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice L. (Stead) Dougherty, on Mar ch 16, 2001, a brother, Robert Dougherty and a brother-in-law, Richard Smi th. The funeral liturgy for William will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, Apr il 7, 2005, at ST PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, wi th Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Ceme tery, Neenah. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m ., until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has be en established for the American Cancer Society.
    The family would like to thank the staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice for t he love and care they showed to Bill and his family.
