    Vera E. Holz, 98 went to bed Sunday evening at the Heritage, and woke up Monday morning August 22, 2011 in Heaven. She is where she wanted to be, and she left us the way she wanted to. She was born March 11, 1913 in Greenville, daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Maves) Schroeder. Vera married Milton Holz June 25, 1936.
    Vera and Milton owned a dairy farm for many years in the town of Vinland. They moved to Hortonville and Vera worked at Hortonville Manufacturing, as an assembler until she retired. Vera was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church-Greenville. She was very active with the United Methodist Woman. She loved to travel, and quilting, especially with the church quilters. She was also a member of the Greenville Homemakers Club.
    She is survived by two sisters, Irene Holz, Appleton, and Dorothy Holz, Appleton; many nieces, nephews, and good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, brothers Walter, and Harold; sisters, Eleanor Wussow, and Nelda Leitzke; brothers-in-law, Milton Wussow, Myron Leitzke, Harry Holz, and Forest Holz; sister-in-law, Germaine Schroeder; her nieces, Correne Tregaboff, and Sally Schroeder; and her nephew, Dennis Schroeder.
    Funeral service for Vera will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at FAITH COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, N1966 Julius Road, Greenville, with Rev. Don Olm officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

    Dorothy C. Holz, 95, beloved mother and grandmother of Appleton passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Heartwood Homes. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1917 in Greenville to Harry and Esther (Maves) Schroeder. She married Harry Holz on June 16, 1938, and together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage until his death on January 17, 2000. Dorothy was a loving and devoted farm wife and enjoyed cooking and sewing. Her apple pies and later in life her English toffee will always be remembered. She was very active in the Faith Community United Methodist Church and was also a pianist. Dorothy and Harry enjoyed traveling throughout the county visiting relatives. She also was an avid genealogist and stamp collector. Dorothy will always be remembered by her grandchildren for her wonderful hugs.
    Dorothy is survived by her children Sandra (Richard) Conover of Waupaca, and their children, Timothy Conover of Clemson, South Carolina; Cindy (Henry) Yacek and their son Daniel of Richmond, Kentucky; son Daniel (Linda) Holz of West Des Moines, Iowa, and their children, Kimberly (Robert) Squires and children, Chandler and Anne of Middleton, Lisa (Adam) Thompson and her step-sons Luke and Nicholas of San Diego, California; her daughter Nancy (Jerome) Buman of Kiel, and children Lynn (Benjamin) Wessel of West Allis, and Stacy (Scott) Schweitzer and children Cassandra and Jenna of Kiel, her sister, Irene Holz, Appleton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry, brothers and sisters Eleanor (Milton) Wussow, Vera (Milton) Holz, Nelda (Myron) Leitzke, Walter Schroeder, Harold (Germaine) Schroeder, and her brothers and sisters-in-law Hazel (Wilbur) Lohrenz, Ruth (Lester) Peters, Milton (Vera) Holz, Mabel (Henry) Lohrenz and Forrest Holz.
    The funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the FAITH COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, N1966 Julius Road, Greenville, with Rev. Don Olm officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the Highland Memorial Park.

    Walter "Chick" Schroeder, age 92, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 27, 2011. Walter was born on December 11, 1918, in the Town of Greenville to the late Harry and Esther (Maves) Schroeder. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. Walter farmed on the family homestead in Greenville until his retirement. He was a faithful, life-long member of Faith Community United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Building Committee, a Trustee and Congregational Treasurer. He was also a long-time member and past president of the Greenville Lions Club. For many years Walter enjoyed his cottage at Pelican Lake and was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and NASCAR.
    Walter is survived by his sisters: Vera Holz, Dorothy Holz and Irene Holz; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
    He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanor Wussow and Nelda Leitzke; his brother, Harold; his brothers-in-law, Milton Wussow, Myron Leitzke, Milton Holz, Harry Holz, Forest Holz; and his sister-in-law, Germaine Schroeder; his nieces, Correne Tregaboff and Sally Schroeder; and his nephew, Dennis Schroeder.
    Funeral services for Walter will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at FAITH COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, N1966 Julius Road, Greenville, with Rev. Dave Farina officiating.     Appleton - Irene Holz, age 97 of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones and went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Irene was born in Greenville on August 17, 1920, daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Maves) Schroeder. She attended Wide Awake, a one-room school in Greenville, graduated from Appleton High School, and received a Certificate of Completion from the Famous Artists School in Westport, CT. She learned to paint beautifully - a talent and gift she enjoyed for many years. On June 12, 1941, she married Forrest Holz in Greenville and were blessed with sixty-four wonderful years together until Forrest went home to heaven in 2005. The couple farmed in the town of Center until 1964, then moved to Hortonville. Later, when The Heritage in Appleton was constructed, they became residents and lived there the rest of their lives.
    Together, they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and playing cards with friends and family. Irene was an avid reader and also did crosswords in the paper in PEN until her mid 90's! She will also be remembered for the many years she made delicious English Toffee and her famous Lorna Doone dessert for church bazaars and as treats for family and friends.
    Irene was a longtime and faithful member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Greenville where she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and the Quilting Group. A woman of deep faith, she also regularly listened to WRVM Christian Radio. Calling them 'her kids', Irene is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her family: Pam (Alan) Uhlenbrauck of Black Creek, Shirley (Paul) Hameister of Appleton, Lowell "Buzz" (Charlotte) Leitzke of Greenville, Kathleen (Neil) Plamann of Appleton, Sandra (Richard) Conover of Waupaca, Nancy Buman of Kiel, Gene (Susan) Wussow of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Roland (Thelma) Schroeder of Appleton. Other surviving relatives include Franklin "Hank" Diestler and Linda Holz.
    Irene was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Laurel Jean, her husband Forrest, four sisters: Eleanor (Milton) Wussow, Vera (Milton) Holz, Nelda (Myron) Leitzke, and Dorothy (Harry) Holz; two brothers: Walter Schroeder and Harold (Germaine) Schroeder; nieces: Corrine Tregaboff, Sally Schroeder, Karen Leitzke, Joanne Diestler, and Yvonne Leitzke; and nephews: Dennis Schroeder and Daniel Holz. Other relatives already passed include Jerry Buman.
    The funeral service for Irene will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018, at FAITH COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, N1966 Julius Drive in Greenville, with Rev. David Farina officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.     Daniel L. Holz, 72, passed away February 15, 2013 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines.
    Dan was born December 9, 1940 in Appleton, WI to Harry and Dorothy Holz. He grew up on a dairy farm near Appleton and graduated from Hortonville Union High School in 1959. He received his MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 1964. He married Nancy Marcks in September of 1963 and together they had two daughters, Kimberly and Lisa. Dan later married Linda Christensen in October of 1996.
    Dan moved to Des Moines in 1966 as an employee of the American Can Company. Later he was a partner in Denman and Company, CPAs, and also served as CFO of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. He was very active in the Lions Club, Gyro Club, and his church. Dan enjoyed golf, music, Drake Basketball, traveling, history, and visiting state capitols.
    Dan is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Kimberly (Robert) Squires of WI, Lisa (Adam) Thompson of CA, Todd (Holly) Christensen of IA, Scott (Jodi) Christensen of AZ; sisters, Sandra (Richard) Conover and Nancy Buman, both of WI; ten grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jerry Buman.
    Dan's family would like to thank Dr. Matt Hill and staff, the Stoddard Infusion Center, and the staff at Kavanagh House for all of their loving care.

    Obituary:
    Dennis Schroeder, Appleton, 55, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007, at his home. Dennis was born Dec. 25, 1951, in Appleton, son of the late Harold and Germaine (Hesse) Schroeder. A lifelong Appleton resident, Dennis was employed by Industrial Ventilation, Inc., and also worked as an engineer at Kimberly Clark Corporation for 27 years. Dennis was a big race fan, and enjoyed watching NASCAR, ASA, and local racing. He also loved spending time at his brother, Rollin's cottage as well as the company of the many friends and neighbors on Lake Winnebago. He also enjoyed playing with all of his "toys," which included his pontoon boat, jet boat, four wheeler, and snowmobile. One of Dennis' favorite pastimes was boating on the pontoon with friends and neighbors. He also took great pleasure in spontaneous road trips with Rollin.
    He is survived by wife, Betty Jerusalem Schroeder; two sons, Kenneth Jerusalem and Keith Jerusalem; a brother, Rollin H. Schroeder, Appleton.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally.
    Funeral Services for Dennis will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at 11 a.m., at EMMANUEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Meade Street and College Avenue, with the Rev. Mark Geisthardt officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again at the church on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
