    Biography:
    GREGOR DEERING, one of the prosperous and progressive farmers of Kaukauna township, is a son of Andrew Deering who came from Germany to America as a young man in 1860 and for a time operated a brewery at Hillsburg, near Hartford, Wisconsin. Andrew Deering married Kunigunde Kohl, a native of Germany who came with her parents George and Rosena (Berkel) Kohl, to the United States, and to this union were born, Annie and Gregor. The birth of the latter occurred March 29, 1863, and in the fall of that year the father was killed in his brewery. The mother and two children then returned to Germantown and for eight or nine years resided with her father; she later married Leonard Hauser, and after his death came to Kaukauna and made her home with G. Deering for ten years.
    The early education of Gregor Deering was acquired in the district and parochial schools in and around Germantown, and when but twenty-four years old he bought and for ten years conducted a meat market in the city of Kaukauna. He then disposed of this as part payment for the farm he now owns in the town of Kaukauna, and has since confined his attentions to agricultural pursuits. When Mr. Deering moved onto his property there were but few improvements, but he has since erected a modern home and suitable barns and outhouses and his land is regarded as one of the fine farms of the community. In 1887 he was united in marriage with Miss Annie Werner, daughter of Mathew Werner, of Hartford, and to them one child, who died in infancy, was born. After the death of his wife, Mr. Deering married Mrs. M. A. Gloudemans, daughter of Arnold Hurkman, and the widow of Martin A. Gloudemans, who died October 13, 1889, leaving one daughter, Rose. The present Mrs. Deering, who is a native of the town of Vandenbroek, has borne Mr. Deering the following children: Matilda M. K., Agnes M., deceased, Arnold A. J., George G., Loretta T. and Charles Joseph.
    Mr. Deering and wife are members of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church at Kaukauna.

    Deering, Joseph C. KaukaunaAge 97, died on Saturday evening, November 30, 2002 at Appleton Medical Ce nter. He was born on March 5, 1905 in Kaukauna the son of the late Greg or and Anna (Hurkman) Deering. On May 20, 1929 he married Mary Bonge rs in Little Chute. She passed away on October 24, 1998. He owned and oper ated a dairy farm most of his life in the Kaukauna area, and had been empl oyed at various jobs after he quit farming. Joe was recognized for 75 yea rs of membership with the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was a lifeti me member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna.He is survived by his daughter Eileen Nackers of Wrightstown, his son Jer ry (Mary Kay) Deering of Little Chute, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-g randchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in dea th by his wife Mary, two brothers, four sisters, a son-in-law Albert Nacke rs, and a daughter-in-law Donna Deering.A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at 11: 00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna with the Rev.     Obituary:
    Roy J. Deering, formerly of White Lake, Wisconsin, died at 2:09 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Brewster Village in Appleton. He died surrounded by his family, following a short, yet valiant fight against cancer. Roy was born May 23, 1926 in Kaukauna, son of the late Arnold and Helen (Vandenberg) Deering, and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946, and was stationed at North Island Naval Base in San Diego. He was married to Joyce M. Beusch on June 9, 1951. Roy worked as a long-haul semi driver for Hennes Trucking, specializing in oversized loads. He retired in 1988. Roy and Joyce purchased their retirement dream home on Sawyer Lake in Langlade County in 1976, and spent thirty-four years in the Wisconsin northwoods.
    He is survived by four children: Sue (Jo Randall) Deering of Portland, Oregon; Mary Green of Appleton; Joe Deering of McHenry, Illinois; and Jerry (Lori) Deering of Appleton; two sisters: Rosemary Hester of Battle Ground, Washington and Ann Bowers of Wrightstown; two brothers: John (Nancy) Deering of San Luis Obispo, California and Peter Deering of Green Valley, Arizona; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; his parents; and a brother Erle Deering.
    A memorial service for Roy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, with Rev. April Kain-Breese officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brewster Village.     Deering, Erle J. 108 E. Seventh Street KaukaunaAge 72, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2002 at the Clement Zabloc ki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Erle was born in Kaukauna on March 1 2, 1929, son of the late Arnold and Helen (Vandenberg) Deering. On Septemb er 13, 1955, he married the former Darlene Eiting in Hollandtown; she surv ives. During the Korean Conflict he proudly served as a member of the Unit ed States Army and was currently a member of the Urban Klister Post #4 36 of the American Legion. Erle enjoyed his dogs Penny and Bandit, and w as an avid reader and Green Bay Packer fan.     Ann K. (Deering) Bowers, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona. Ann was born on October 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Arnold and Helen Deering. On October 17, 1955 Ann married the love of her life, Lawrence P. Bowers. They were married for 26 years before Larry preceded her in death on November 12, 1981. Ann and Larry together ran a dairy farm and built their family.
    Ann enjoyed watching the Packers play football, preferably when they won. She enjoyed her time at the cottage, traveling, working in her flower garden, reading, spending time with friends and family. She was an active member of the Town of Kaukauna Historical Society.
    Survivors include her children: Peter (Barb) Bowers and their children, Jamie (Michelle) Bowers, Jason (Amber) Bowers, Jeremy (Kelly) Bowers, and Jolene (David) Loritz; Arnold (Sheryl) Bowers and their children Michelle (Nathan) Gonnering, Christine Bowers, Lawrence Bowers, and Adam Bowers; Helen Schmude (special friend Mark Schlies) and her children Kevin Bowers and Anthony Bowers; Jean Hill and her children Kayla Hill and Tori Hill. She is also survived by brothers Peter Deering and John (Nancy) Deering; a sister Rosemary Hester; and ten great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
    In addition to her parents, Arnold and Helen Deering, and her husband Lawrence, Ann was preceded in death by her granddaughter: Holly Mae Bowers, her brothers: Roy (Joyce) Deering and Earl (Darlene) Deering, a brother-in-law Kirby Hester; her mother and father-in-law: Henry and Cecilia Bowers, her brothers and sisters-in-law: Lloyd Bowers, Norman Bowers, Nancy Bowers, Lorraine (Jim) Shillcox, Mildred (Roy) Lamers, Mary (Jim) Hermes, and Eleanor Bowers, as well as several nieces and nephews.
