    COMMENT: This particular surname appears as Minier/Meaney/Maeney. I have never been able to find any censuses for Mary Louise/Louise/or Lois Minier/Meaney/Maeny anywhere. I suspect that she was never married. FYI, the marriage record for Hilaire Landerman (sic) to Louise MINIER ws on 14 Sep 1891 in Fond du Lac County, WI. "MEANEY" is an Irish surname; Minier is a French-Canadian surname. And what MAENY is I do not know.

    One of their sons, Irving/Irvin Abbott Leppla was born in Greenville Township, Outagamie Co., WI ca 1885. If you check his WWI Draft Card, it will list his place. See 1910 US Census for Irvin A.     Amanda La Fortune, age 96, of Medina, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Carolina Manor in Appleton. She had a long and meaningful life and was ready to be with the Lord. Amanda was born to John and Mary Leppla on March 23, 1910. She was the sixth of eight children and was the final surviving family member. On July 16, 1932, Amanda was united in marriage to Wesley La Fortune.
    She was a lifetime member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Dale and enjoyed participating in many Women's Guild activities. She was proud of her lifelong membership in the Royal Neighbors of America. With a great love for people, she was always available to help family and friends. When the frost was out of the ground she could be found working in her flowerbeds early in the morning, one of her favorite activities. Amanda and Wesley enjoyed spring walleye fishing on the Wolf River and traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
    She is survived by two daughters: Jeanne (John) Myers, Appleton; and Jo Ann Wolff, Appleton; and a son, Duane (Nancy) La Fortune, Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by Wesley, her husband of 63 years in 1994; two brothers: Bill and Harry; four sisters: Elma, Carrie, Marie and Lilia; a granddaughter, Cheryl Wolff and great-granddaughter, Crystal Anderson.
    Funeral services for Amanda will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Dale with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Dale. Friends may call at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home on Monday, March 5, 2007, in Hortonville from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
    Special thank you to all the Angels at Caroline Manor and in Media - all those who lovingly cared for her when she could no longer do it herself. Those who cleaned and bandaged her surgeries, brought cookies and prayers and visited, ran errands, mowed grass, shoveled or plowed her driveway. So she could continue living in her home longer. So many acts of kindness, we are so grateful. Thank you! Their halos and wings will be waiting for them when they retire to heaven.

    Nick, Dorothy Mae
    Dorothy Mae Nick, 90, Green Bay, passed away July 14, 2009, at Unity Hospice in De Pere on the date that would have been her 64th wedding anniversary.
    She was born Dorothy Sullivan on May 20, 1919, to William and Helen (McCarthy) Sullivan in Green Bay. Dorothy attended Green Bay East High School and graduated from high school in Appleton.
    She married Wilfred "Willy" Nick on July 14, 1945. They raised their three children in Green Bay, and while being a mom Dorothy worked several part-time jobs, including the U.S. Postal Service and Smart Fashions in Green Bay.
    In her spare time, she enjoyed working outside, reading and visiting her children.
    A strong, feisty spirit and a love for life and family are qualities that Dorothy exemplified and were appreciated by those who knew her well. She was an especially avid Packer fan and attended all home games, even the coldest, until nearly her 80th birthday.
    Survivors include daughters, Kathy (John) Adams, Green Bay; and Mary Nick, Madison; son, William (Carol) Nick, Sturgeon Bay; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with a ninth on the way.
    Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Eileen Hoel.
    Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 10 to noon Friday. Memorial service at noon at the funeral home with Fr. Mark Falcone officiating. Online condolences may be sent to Dorothy's family at www.prokowall.com.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Unity Hospice Residence.
    The family wants to express special thanks to Dr. Richard Greene and Arlene Grosso for their kindness over the years, the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living, the staff at Santa Maria, and the staff at Unity Hospice Residence for their warmth and caring.
