    Obituary:
    John L. Arft, age 95, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at St. Paul's Home, on July 8, 2005. He was born September 25th, 1909, in Appleton to Jennie Mae (Larson) and John Arft Sr. On September 5th, 1942, he was united in marriage to Dorothy (Delrow) Arft in Appleton. They have been married for 64 wonderful years. He spent many years as a Seaman in the Coast Guard. John was an engineer for the Appleton Area School District, until his retirement. He was also the Town Constable and the Chairman for the Town of Grand Chute for many years. John and Dorothy retired to North Fort Meyers, Florida were they resided for 15 years before returning back to Appleton to be with family. John enjoyed woodworking and carving, gardening, boats, reading, going out to eat and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    John is survived by his wife Dorothy. Also by his children Jim (Diane) Arft of Shiocton; William (Dorothy) Arft, of North Port, Florida; Roberta Caldwell of De Soto, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Mark (Julie) Arft, of Combined Locks; Mike (Lyn) Arft of Appleton; Melissa (Dennis) Koehler of Kimberly; Gary (Dawn) Mcananey of Northbrook, Illinois; Jini Olsen of Round Lake Park, Illinois; Michael (Toni) Caldwell of De Soto, Kansas; Michele (Tom) Smith of De Soto, Kansas. John is further survived by his great-grandchildren: Elliot and Aleigha Arft, Christopher and Brandon Ertl, Kayla Arft, Janet and Isaac Koehler, Quinn and Allie Mcananey, Samantha Olsen, Bret and Rhiannon Caldwell and Ben and Brittny Smith.
    John was preceded in death by his brother Dan Arft, his sister Myra Jorgenson, and his parents.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home, with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2005, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Valley Funeral Home and Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 10 a.m. until time of service at Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
