    Email from Kathy Roskom dkroskom@hotmail.com 6/30/2005;I've been trying to clear up some confusion over multiple "Bertha Pagel' s" born in the 1880's in Wisconsin. I found your rootsweb.com pages as we ll as information from a Steven Schmidt which have enabled be to determi ne that "my" Bertha Pagel is a different person. I thought I might as we ll pass along the additional information I found on "your" Bertha Page l. ( ID 162384 )Birthdate: Apr 1881 in Wisconsin Father: John Pagel, born June 17, 18 48 in Germany and died Dec 1 1927. Mother: Hanne Frederune Wilhelmina Seli now, born Sept 1849 (or Oct 22, 1848) in Germany and died Aug 19 1946. Jo hn & Wilhelmina married about 1876 and had total of 7 children; 6 livi ng in 1900.This information is from 1900 census: Wis, Brown Co, Wrightstown ed35 p 6B which also has information on 5 of the children, including Bertha (lis ted as Birdie) and from Steven Schmidt (c.w.schmidt@gmx.net - good in 200 3, I haven't tried it recently).Also, Steven had information that Wilhelm Hildebrandt died in the 1920's ( which I assume means that Wilhelm & Bertha divorced, since she remarried l ong before that) and that Hubert Scheibe died in 1955.Hope this is helpful to you, Kathie Roskom dkroskom@hotmail.com

    Mrs. Peter Conrad, Erma Schei be Schmidt, age 73, died Monday, March 4th, 1985, after a lingering illnes s. She was born July 15th, 1911, in Brown County and was a lifelong ar ea resident. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, whe re she was very active. She was a member of the Woman's Aide Society f or over 50 years, and a member of the Kaukauna AARP. Survivors include h er husband, Peter; a daughter, Karen L. Frank, of Neenah, three sons and f our daughters in law: Wayne L. and Elaine Schmidt, of Buckley Illinois; a nd Gene W. and Jean Schmidt, of Greenleaf; Lee H. and Wendy Schmidt, of Mi nneapolis; Ruth Schmidt, Appleton and; a brother and sister in law Edw in R. and Irene Schmidt; of Little Chute; 15 grandchildren; two great-gran dchildren; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Joan) Sherwood, of Elmhurst Illino is; a step grandson; a brother in law, Leonard Swender, Waukesha; two sist ers in law: Irma Scheibe, Wrightstown; Nina Hildebrandt, of Tucson. She w as preceded in death by a son, Ralph L. Schmidt, a sister, Louella Swende r, a brother, Walter Sheibe, a half-brother, William Hildebrandt. The fun eral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Churc h, Kaukauna, with the Reverend Andrew Martens and Mark Neitzel officiatin g. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum.

    Obituary:
    Walter C. Scheibe, 70, 247 Clay St. died early Sunday morning at his home following a long illness.
    He was born July 10, 1914, in the town of Lawrence, a son of the late Hubert and Bertha Pagel Scheibe and attended the Wrightstown Schools.
    Mr. Scheibe married the former Irma Rosin May 22, 1941, in Wrightstown and they farmed in the town of Lawrence until moving to Wrightstown in 1974. He was also employed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
    He was past president and deacon of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, a past director of the South Lawrence Butter and Cheese Association and a member of the Golden Agers.
    In 1982, he received a plaque for dedication service from the Wrightstown Historical Society.
    Survivors are his wife; one son, the Rev. Richard Scheibe of Roanoke, VA; one daughter Mary Ann Rosin of Edina, Minn. one brother Edwin, of Little Chute; one sister, Erma Conrad of Kaukauna, and three grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Carl Klein officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with De Wane Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
