Obituary:
Eileen M. Van Wychen, 96, Freedom, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born March 4, 1914, in Freedom to the late George and Josephine (Farrell) Randerson. Eileen married Norbert Van Wychen at St. Nicholas Parish on July 8, 1937. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2007, after 70 years of marriage. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Kaukauna until 1949 after which they moved to the Town of Freedom. Later, Eileen worked as a baker for the Freedom Elementary School. She enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino. In her earlier years, Eileen loved to fish at their cottage at Crooked Lake. She and Norbert loved to travel. Eileen cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her children, Patricia "Pat" (Fred) Zimmer, Grand Chute; Tom (Mary Pat) Van Wychen, Kaukauna; and Luanne (Tim) Brinkman, Freedom; daughter-in-law: Joyce Van Wychen, Freedom; grandchildren: Dan (Ann) Wynboom, Kathi (Randy) Sanders (Goddaughter), Judy (Ed) Krzyzak, Sue (Mike) Eiting, Shari (Todd) Romenesko (Goddaughter), Michael Van Wychen, Andy Wilquet, Lori (John) Don Carlos, Lisa (Joe) Derivan, Christopher and Angela Brinkman; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernice Randerson, Jerome (Edna), Tony (Lillian), Rich (Betty), William (Bernice) and Melvin Van Wychen; additional Godchildren: Bette Wilkens (whom she shared a birthday and was very close to) and Pete Van Wychen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to Norbert and her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her siblings: Lucille (Johnny) Suchko, Melvin (Martha), Gene (Ora), Patrick (Margie) and Jerry (Helen "Tootie") Randerson; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Peter (Hattie), John (Hattie), Millie Van Wychen.
Visitation will be held Monday July 19, 2010, beginning at 2:30 p.m. until time of funeral at 5:00 p.m. at ST. NICHOLAS PARISH (W2037 County Road S, Freedom). The Rev. David Hoffman will officiate. The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to St. Paul Elder Services' Staff and Hospice for the wonderful supportive care of their Mother. Also the wonderful volunteers who delivered Mom's meals when she was still at home and especially Dee Spiegel. Thank you also to the many friends and relatives who took time out of their lives to visit Mom.
